| Scienza and Edozie 09:58 - Feb 9 with 1924 views | HytheFerrytales | Looks like Eckert is set to give Edozie some serious game time. Is he going to use him as a like- for-like with Scienza and rotate them as starter/sub or is there a formation that can accommodate both starting? Scienza's drop off in contribution is a bit troubling...long term injury? | | | | |

Not sure I quite get Robinson. Sure, he's a talented young chap, but what else is he?..A left winger?..An attacking midfielder?...I believe he played a bit on the right at youth level. He's 18 years old and by definition lacking experience, so is he an asset on a busy push for play-off spot? If Edozie is up for it, I would give him the nod over Robinson.

When Robinson was on form, he made a difference, he made things happen. That's never been the case with Edozie. Edozie can look good but rarely produces any end product. Maybe Eckert can turn Edozie into a different type of player, but I doubt he has the time. If Edozie was going to develop into the real deal, he should have done it by now. So for me, it's Robinson before Edozie. In crunch games, TE might prefer Matsuki over both of them.

Edozie isn’t a nipper anymore. He is 23 and only played about 60 games. He is in last chance saloon with us and if he leaves here on a free it’s only downwards . Still I’m sure he’s made more than enough money from saints to retire.

Robinson would be 5th choice behind Edozie and Matsuki, I would suggest.

Right...this football punditry is far too difficult. I'll get back to the 1960's music scene threads where I belong.. I wonder if Salisbury's finest export..Dave Dee, Edozie, Beaky, Mick and Tich are still out there?

That's a flashback. I remember "BEND IT" getting banned in the US because of its naughty innuendos. Dave Dee passed away in 2009.

That's where most of the band came from but not sure about the pub thing. They were defo the big celebs there. I went to my Uncle John's wedding there when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

You can't buy that quality of trivia, other than on this Forum.. I'll make sure it's in the family Christmas Quiz in December.
| Scienza and Edozie on 11:01 - Feb 10 with 817 views | dirk_doone | Scienza took a nasty kick, deliberately intended to injure him, just after the start of the Watford game. He struggled after that. Many teams try to injure the opposition's best player at the beginning of games because they know the referee won't give a yellow card that early. He didn't even give a free-kick. Scienza's legs must be black and blue after games. [Post edited 10 Feb 11:01]

I agree Grumps. I don't think we've seen the best of Edozie yet. I'll be dissapointed if he doesn't turn out to be half decent. He's been messed about, lots of different Coaches , out on loan & very little game time. I'm not sure he'll ever get enough game time with us.

How long is he going to be 'a work in progress'?

Edozie has had 7 coaches, 8 if you include his loan period since his arrival in 2022. He’s only 23. He needs stability. Our present manager did a good job with our Youth team so hopefully is in good hands. [Post edited 10 Feb 13:27]

Edozie is one of those players at St Mary's who came in as a youngster at 19 and was thrust into a Saints side about to go into managerial turmoil and eventual relegation and some can never see past that In 2023/24 in the Championship he started 16 regular season games plus another 16 off the bench, scoring 6 goals and adding another 3 assists, he also made 2 sub appearances in the play offs including 48 minutes at Wembley after David Brookes went off. Some would probably say 6 goals 3 assists is not a big contribution, but if you put it into context it is. Ryan Fraser who started 13 games plus 26 as sub in that regular season also scored 6 goals but with only 2 assists. Carlos Alcaraz made 23 appearances and only 3 goals, David Brooks 17 games and 2 goals, Sulemana 25 games 0 goals, Ffaser was see as making a major contribution that season, but is stats arent as good as Edozie Only two players, Armstrong & Adams scored more goals than Edozie's 6. So in his only real full season for the club if we discount the shambles which was his first season which was none of his making, he produced an end product of significance when you compare it with those around him

It’s a mystery that’s for sure. I’m coming round to thinking we need some stability and sticking with Tonda even if we don’t reach the playoffs. Germans have a habit of grinding out results just ask England teams.

Adam Blackmore said during the Watford game that Eckert had a sit down one-to-one with Edozie recently & they cleared the air. I would imagine this happened soon after the transfer window closed when it was clear Edozie was staying. Hopefully the lad will knuckle down, get his head sorted & start to do what he does best - play football.
