George Floyd
by Sadoldgit at 15:11 28 May 2020

I expect many of you saw the film of the policeman kneeling on his neck? It is hard to believe that this is still going on in America. So the four policemen have been sacked? Why haven’t they been arrested for murder? Until these incidents are dealt with properly under the law, black people will continue to die at the hands of those who are charged with upholding the law. I remember well Martin Luther King’s speeches and the protests in the 60’s. Precious little has changed since then

Payback
by Yarman at 14:58 28 May 2020

Lets hope that in the future there is some fairness in the way taxes are going to be hiked to pay for all those furloughed on 80% of wages. How can it be right for all those workers and essential workers that have been working on as normal through lockdown, usually low paid, to be expected to pay the same towards the debt of those sat at home doing nothing. Of course l realise its more complicated than just that, and there are many other issues, but what would be fair?.

The Latest Central Defender To Be Linked Is ......
by TimSaint at 14:52:34

I like the way Wolves are dismissed because of their plethora of centre backs.
As a reminder, we ourselves currently have Bednarek, Stephens, Vestergaard, Danso, Hoedt and Yoshida !! A lot of work needs to be done in this area, which have proved problematic for at least 3 years now. Yoshida will be gone once this season is over and no doubt Danso will be returned. I am sure we will listen to offers (if any, despite what the player himself says) for Hoedt and probably Vest - maybe Leicester will come back in for him ? !!
That could leave us with just 2 average players, so we definitely need 2 signed up if we let 4 go - unless we plan to use Romeu or Bert as CBs.

Anyone know much about Salisu ? Is he too young and inexperienced for us ? They said that Danso was a good fit and an international, but look how that worked out !!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we should have paid the money and signed Cahill for a couple of seasons and he would have helped educate Bednarek and Stephens.

The Death of Spin?
by Sadoldgit at 12:14 28 May 2020

Recently we have seen the disaster that was Prince Andrew’s attempt to reframe himself in the wake of the Epstein firestorm. His big PR event was car crash TV and backfired on him big time, so much so that his Mum effectively fired him. Since then we have seen an attempt by Dominic Cummings to explain away his breaking of the rules, a further attempt by Johnson to whitewash the situation and move on and daily “briefings” from various cabinet lightweights and occasionally the PM , if he can be arsed, which are supposed to reassure us that all is well and the government are in complete control of the situation. Thing is, none of this sh*t seems to work anymore. People are seeing through the guff and are calling it for what it is, BS. Spin is unravelling so fast the memes are springing up almost as the broadcasts finish. Trump, Johnson, Cummings, Prince Andrew have all played the PR game and have lost badly. Not much good has come out of the pandemic so far (apart exposing the weakness of the PM and his total reliance on an unelected ego maniac) but if it sees the end of the spin doctor and a return to treating the general public as adults who to paraphrase Jack Nicholson, can handle the truth, we can chalk that up as a plus.

Kyle Walker - Peters To Extend Loan
by TimSaint at 11:42:55

Just had the radio on in the car and they were saying that their podcast this week is an interview with KWP. They didn't play it all, but did play highlights of him talking about spitting, celebrations and keeping him contact with team mates. They also stated that he extended with Saints until the end of the season.
I suspect he will be in the market for some added home security, as he said he lives round the corner from Dele Alli :-)

Celtic Set The Bar With Asking Price for Olivier Ntcham
by highfield49 at 09:46:44

I agree with NewburySaint but, if Celtic want to negotiate, take any sell on clause for Ntcham out of the equation. If Ntcham has similar ambitions to VVD I don't see why Celtic should gain from his development without making any financial contribution.

Kyle Walker - Peters To Extend Loan

This is a win-win situation. Clearly he has no future at Spurs and with 9 games left and the possibility of using 5 subs. in those matches he's sure to get some game time, and a chance for Ralph to access his options . If he's not upto standard, then we've lost nothing.
Obviously he would be a bargaining chip in an eventual deal - if PEH moves , providing Spurs don't ask some ridiculous fee for KWP.

Hairdressers
by SaintNick at 22:04 27 May 2020

I always wanted to be a hairdresser. As a child I'd practice in my bedroom using a microphone as a hairbrush ....

My girlfriend said she was leaving me because l was acting like a posh bastard.
I was so shocked, my monocle fell out ....

As a paranoid schizophrenic, l take the lift alone to my top floor flat.
I can't stand the stares ....

Leadership vacuum
by DorsetIan at 21:56 27 May 2020

There's a lovely slot for Starmer to now fill as de facto moral leader of the country.

He should tell the country to ignore what Cummings has done and the public health risks that Boris is prepared to take by not condemning it. He should reiterate the message that the public needs to abide by the letter and spirit of the rules and act in the interests of everyone, even if Boris and Cummings clearly can't.

Starmer has the authority to do this and should do it. Boris and his credits have lost that authority.

Open goal.

Lockdown.
by hedgeend61 at 20:48 27 May 2020

What have done, achieved, had to do you probably wouldn't have otherwise?

Walked, averaging 6.2 miles a day so far in May, (like walking to Derby ), averaged 4miles per day April, lost a stone.
Cut own hair, easy really, shaved a grade 2.
Cut dogs hair with groomers shut, easy clip really as Springer Spaniel, and hair not curly.
Talked to wife.
Drunk more water, one beer a day, eaten less.
Queued outside a supermarket and chip shop.
Ordered 2 Sunday dinners delivered to your house for the last 6 weeks, Master Builder West End £9.95, recommended, now on rolling Sunday order
Watched no News programmes on TV for 2 months, it's as if nothing else happens.
Not put any petrol in car, as haven't driven further than a 5 mile journey.

Probably more, but you lot got any more?

Emily Maitlis should be sacked- biased report on Cummings
by Bazza at 18:48 27 May 2020

Guilty of breaching impartiality guidelines in item about Cummings on Tuesday's Newsnight. Disgusting that BBC allowed this especially from such a high earning individual(unelected). Polluting the airwaves with biased statements. Possibility of millions being misled. I'm looking forward to a immediate public apology and resignation.
Never been so shocked since my mum told me where babies came from!

Yet Another Defender Linked With St Mary's
by underweststand at 18:21:28

Typical news story bolstered up by the players agent , or some journo on a quiet day.
Yes - we MIGHT sign him, but where do all these stories come from?

2 years ago , I listed the players who Saints were " inked with " prior to the Summer transfer window...I lost count ..and patience ..after the first 20.

How may of them did we finally sign ..NONE..but any one of them might have been better than those that we did eventually sign, and now we are paying the price.

Saints Issue Ticket Refund Information Statement
by the_saint at 16:25:30

I think that they refund you for this season missed games then sell you a full price ticket for next season and at the end of that season refund you games missed.
Got a feeling season ticket holders will dwindle best thing is dont renew and pay as you go for next season

And, we've kept on buying them, Tim -Bednarek, Hoedt, Vestergaard, Danso - although, admittedly, not very good ones. The problem is that they are so bad that we can't get rid of them.
