Southampton Injury News : Theo Walcott Returns To Squad For Wolves Clash
by underweststand at 11:12:00

Theo Walcott's return to fitness may not make headlines as he is unlikely to be first choice as a starter at this time, but the continued absence of Stuart Armstrong is cause for concern. For several weeks past we have had the same blank explanation about his injury, which suggests that it maybe more serious than first thought.. or will surgery be involved?

Although we thankfully have adequate replacements available, many would agree that his presence in the side does add a lot to team performances, and we can hope for an early return.

You covered most of the issues well in the article(Nick) but there is an open question of the side that Ralph will start with .
The absence of new signings Simeu and Small from the recent B team squads suggest that sooner rather than later there may be some game time for them.
We have seen of late that age is no barrier to selection and it's perhaps better to choose a game like Wolves for an introduction rather than v. Chelsea or Leeds.
With Stephens out for for next 3 months (?) means Bednarek will be the mainstay at the back but the recent ultra-defensive displays from Romeu may suggest he has a second career in a more defensive role, and provide extra support with Salisu.
Whilst Livramento continues to show up well, some have suggested than he should play further forward and we revert to KWP at RB (?).
Certainly Tino could be no worse than Redmond on recent performances.

We just need to get back in the habit of winning games. Now that the defence is not looking so shaky we can go for the jugular of these lower teams and get two or three ahead for a change.

I am so fed up with all those on here -or one in particular - who never stop going on about RH and how much they want him out. FFS put a sock in it. You are so boring!, why don’t you try and be positive about him for a change? You might even start to enjoy being a fan…!

Watching Eddie Hearn interview after he lost and Hearn prattling on about how “he only fights the best”

What a corrupt lying sport the heavyweight division has become. Joshua has been a massive marketing machine kept away from the best so they can avoid defeats and keep generating more money. Hearn is another in the list of promoters who take fight fans for mugs.

Having gained valuable points against several top-end sides , this is the sort of fixture that we need to win convincingly to kick start the season properly. Having lost their (class) goalie and manager, Wolves look a bit lop-sided and haven't shown the vigorous playing style they had last season, and don't look very convincing .....so far.
We still have a few tough fixture in the coming month and so this game is highly-winnable
and we ought not to let the opportunity slip.

I can't agree about Redmond. He's had so many opportunities but just doesn't consistently produce the goods.
How many dreadful performances do we have to suffer because of 2 passes in 1 game - remember what happened with him after Bournemouth in the cup last year, nothing. He's had so many chances, give some of the younger players like Tella an extended run. I'm fed up with a player whose inflated ego is so much bigger than his ability. How many clubs were interested in him in the transfer window - none. That says it all.

Well I cant think of anything that you didn't cover Nick apart from the Manager , coaches and tactics We have lost our goalscoring machine and this is the match where we will learn so much more about our new attack force and the level of effectiveness of the tactics applied by Ralph to make sure .that we get more shots on goaL
I would suggest that there is more pressure this weekend on the manager himself, than on any of the individual payers chosen to start the match.

Just watching the game and if we managed a draw at the Etihad last week, we could even do better at the Bridge next week?

A well balanced article Nick. However, I think you heavily neglected the goalkeeper situation. I've personally had enough of McCarthy and Forster. Both need to be replaced with younger hungry goalkeepers who can meet the modern demands of the game.

Furthermore, the striker situation is of serious concern. Ings did the business two seasons ago and if not for injuries would have replicated that form last season.

Che Adams isn't good enough to lead the line. I don't want to be too critical of Armstrong as it's his first season back in the EPL but he needs to hit the ground running. I think if both can aim for 10-15 goals each coupled with goals from midfield that should be more than enough to ensure safety and potentially a top ten finish.

We should definitely look to buy a proven goalscorer in Jan--especially if Che and Armstrong aren't scoring. The club can surely justify the spend relative to EPL survival. We also need to ship out Shane Long. I can't for the life of me understand how he's still in the squad smh

The people who voted him in must really hate this country.
