So you keep repeating. Getting pretty dull now to be honest.
Odd that a player I often defended against some pretty idiotic abuse is having a storming season at the top end of the Championship whilst a player I often questioned despite fan claims he was a future Spanish international in the making gets pilloried now.
To be honest I'm quite comfortable with what I do or don't know about central defenders.

I'm pretty sure a decent coach would have vdh and Mawson working as a unit. Amat is a tw@t ,lacks discipline as proven yesterday, again.
Mawson will be a good player, very good , a certain captain.
Problem is our full backs allow too many crosses
I'm sure a coach could sort out the basics.
We won't score many but ,we could shore things up. | |

Apparently the first goal was his fault. The fact that Mawson was turned inside out for the Boro player to get the cross in and that Negredo's finish was fantastic doesn't count.

Not really getting the Mawson love in at the moment. All I have seen is a centre half who cannot win a header. Very poor mans Ash Williams.
He may well turn out to be cracking defender, but will be for us in the Championship, not Premier League. |  | | |

Feels a bit like a Hobson's choice, but I'd go with VDH and Mawson from our current crop. Amat is too reckless and Fernandez is too casual.
I like VDH from what I've seen. Has the distribution of an epileptic buffalo, but seems to defend well and covers the basics. Mawson will at least put a decent shift in.
Ideally, as someone pointed out earlier, one or the other should be playing second fiddle to an Ash replacement, but that never happened, so here we are. |  |
