I'm not sure about the promoting thing, I just looked it up. Job done!
Although slightly entertaining (very slightly) in a comedic way, having Sean Bean trying to make witty commentaries as you attempt vinegar strokes is hardly the optimum formula.
Seriously though, the promotion is really coming from the media here, they are making something out of nothing, hence increasing the audience viewing. It wasn't Clucas that pointed me to the site, I would have thought it would be the ludicrous media narrative of white supremacy sign that would have sparked people off, it was the Daily Mail telling people what the site is. Can't beat free publicity..

Swansea City star apologises for goal celebration which sparked FA probe over links to viral porn videos
"As a club we were unaware of any links to the Internet group in question and disappointed to learn of the association as it does not reflect the values of Swansea City nor our strong commitment to equality," said a Swansea City spokesman.
