Apparently we're favourite to sign him. Top scorer in the Championship last season, still 26.

If we're able to keep Bony and McBurnie then this guy will be a lethal addition to the strike force.

Would be an unbelievable signing at this level.

Shows we mean business aswell if we pull it off.

Can’t see Bony, McBurnie and Vydra being at the club. He cost Derby £8m two years ago and is on a 4 year contract so he will cost a few bob.

He would be a good signing as long as he fitted in to the pattern of play the new manager wanted to implement. The club really needs to sort out the manager position quickly.

He'll cost 15 m minimum no doubt..

Would be a dream signing..but let's face it..not gonna happen..we could barely afford that kind of fee in the PL..can't see us spending more than 10 m on a single player in the Championship.

Think about how many players we could be potentially selling though. Mawson on his own would cover that cost.

When players can consistently put the ball in the back of the net at your level it doesn't matter what "pattern of play" the rest of the team uses as long as it gets the ball to him.

True..but the Club will have to raise about 25 m in sales to keep the club afloat..so they need to be careful with the money.

We also have other positions to consider..CB,CMF,AMF for example..probably we'll only spend about 25 m total..

You are in for a massive shock if you keep thinking the club are going to spend that £25m figure on transfer fees in the Championship.

Derby will accept what they paid for him if reports are to be believed. £8M

I hope not though :)

That'd be the bare minimum needed.

Because they've lost their f*cking minds have they?

Division top scorer without serious problems or bad injury record..why?

Nonsense. Even the best strikers thrive on specific kinds of service, you can't just chuck it at them anywhere and expect goals.

Cast your mind back to when we last in the Championship. The final league game at home against Norwich springs to mind for some reason and it doesnt feel like that ago.

Think of the money spent on that team. Think Scott Sinclair was the most expensive outlay on £2m? (somebody will correct me)

This season will be consolidation and a cleaning of the decks. A bunch of freebies and low cost outlays (£1m-£3m) will be how this pans out. And tbh, i really hope the board dont go throwing huge amounts of cash at this as that is the absolute last thing we want - a debt mountain with minimal income streams.

The Championship (and football as a whole) has changed a lot since we were last there. Premier League TV money doubled in the time we were there.

We're a different club and it's a different league. Everyone's spending silly money.

Everyone?

One or two clubs are. Most arent. We wont imo - and i hope we dont. Money does not = guaranteed success. We should know this better than anyone.

This. In Spades.

A quality manager working to a plan and players who know their roles within it are preferable to chucking money against the wall.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

More like £50m. Parachute payments will be 55% of what we made this season. So if we make a bit over £100m from TV, that be down to £55m.

True about the parachute payments..

But Wages will be cut significantly+probably cuts on operational costs etc

Gary Rowett looks like he is off to Stoke.
So Vydra may well go with him.
Joe Allen has also said he may stay with Stoke next season but it depends on recruitment and how ambitious Stoke are.

Poll: Would you like Cooper to stay or go (regardless of compensation situation)

It wont quite be 55% of what we make from TV this season as:

Relegated clubs will receive 55 per cent of the equal share of broadcast revenue paid to Premier League clubs.

So it's 55% of the equal share of broadcast revenue and doesn't include the merit payment (for where you finish) and facility fees (income you get when your game is shown).

For reference, in 2016/17 the broadcast revenue was £84.4m so if that was consistent we'd get £46m. I don't think they've decided what it will be yet though-they have a meeting in June where it has to be decided by I believe.

Yeah, and top scorer last time out. Would be a signing of real intent and one I wouldn't have imagined us making under the current regime once we got relegated.

Nonsense is NOT having one or more players who know where the back of the net is.
Because it doesn't matter what style you play they will never score enough goals to keep you up.
Ask Swansea City FC fans, they can tell you all about it, because they tried different styles of play and it didn't work.
And don't say they didn't create any chances, because they did.
