We didn't deserve that.. 22:21 - Sep 18 with 2969 views_

The goal, the first half performance, the emergence of some real talent right through the squad.

We won't take the 3 points tonight, but we'll take more from that game than they will.

It's more than onwards and upwards after that. Let's get behind the lads here, we're right in this league.

I completely agree with your OP. Slightly less your second post, as with a couple of key additions I think we'd be as good as anything in this division, if not better. Division is there for the taking.

So many positives. Especially Potter.

This.

The squad we have now will in all likelihood struggle to maintain a promotion challenge over 46 games. With three or four good additions it definitely can.

Tend to agree, without Montero we struggle to open up teams.

Read the OP but not the other comments, agreed that we didnt deserve that last night.

The injuries are hurting us, combined with the small squad, this will be our Achilles heel this season.

Potter is getting not just a tune out of this small young squad but getting a bloody good tune out of them. You just know that Potter has something about him and if he is not supported, he will be gone either to soon or before he can actually get everything in place to do something here.

Must add, I was really impressed by George Byers, what a superb player with excellent vision....another find this season for the first team.

If we continue with the bad luck that's kept Fer, Montero, Celina, Fulton and Carroll out, of course we would.

But otherwise it's an unfair statement.

There's an argument for the opposite, in fact. Stoke had pretty much their best side out and they didn't deserve to win, only doing so with the most farcical decision we'll see all season.

It's been a great start to the season and the depth of the squad, whilst young, is full of talent and exciting.

You have it spot on when you say we will take much more from this than the Fcking Stokies. Their manager at the end was applauding a win that they didn't deserve and not one person who watched that match would disagree, he will be fckd by January. A desperate man.

Tonight was an impressive performance by a side completely ravaged by injury. The winning goal was such a farce you have to question once again the integrity of the linesman. We just don't deserve these shouts.

Nice to see your dialogue with folk is improving 👍

Weren’t Stoke favourites for the league too? Just because they spent some cash? They looked terrible first half, but better 2nd. It’s wide open again this year folks

And the other thing, just heard the Potter interview, he looks at the interviewer like he's got two heads when he calls out the squad.

This is a serious facking squad for this league.

Believe.

It's a pleasure to actually agree with you for once , we didn't deserve that result, routs and Naughton who I've always rated proved they will be a massive help to us supplemented with the young hungry footballers we have.

I was proud if the display considering the rape of our playing assets with sale and injury.

We're three or four players short to challenge

As hard as that defeat was to take due to the nature of the goal, it's hard to argue that of the two teams Stoke didn't deserve to win.

As well as we played in large patches, Stoke created 4 or 5 clear chances and if they had taken one of those rather than the one they did, most would probably not complain too much about the result.

Certainly plenty of positives to take from the game though but the lack of a cutting edge is threatening to become a concern.

Montero is always going to be on the verge of spending a couple of weeks out. That's the problem.

Two or three injuries will always leave us up against it, especially injuries to absolute key players like Fer.

You're right, but I think we have to put Stoke's chances into context. Some of them were later in the game when we were chasing the game, so we can forget about them, but if Stoke had scored earlier in the game, it could have been a very different game.....but they didn't.

We are definitely lacking a cutting edge up front though, especially without Ollie starting (although Routs played so intelligently last night, to be fair).

The issues are mainly a lacking a driving force in the centre of midfield (ie Fer) and simply not having enough goals around the squad to worry teams. Look at any decent team and there are usually four or five players who can chip in with 8-10 goals over the course of a 46 game season, as well as someone with over 15.

We've got Ollie who'll hopefully get 15 and Celina who'll hopefully get close to 10. Fer's capable of getting 7-10 but the rest (Byers, James, etc) are unknown at this level. Carroll and Fulton aren't regulars on the score sheet (2 or 3 a season maybe) whilst Dyer, Montero and Routs have never been anywhere near prolific over a whole season.

Should Ollie, Fer or Celina not stay fit and available, we're struggling for goals but that's the problem with the balance of the squad at the moment. What I'm hoping and praying is that the likes of Dan James get a goal soon and then has the confidence to recreate his U23s goalscoring feats.

We're definitely in a transition phase at the moment so we all have to be as supportive of the manager and players as we have been all season, but HUGE pressure needs to be put on the Yanks to make sure the manager's not raped again in the January window. That's my biggest worry, by far.

Poll: Simple...would you want Leon in the squad right now, if he was available?
