The finals should for the best teams not all the teams. Finishing third in a four team group should not allow progress. There's enough crap around in so called qualifying. |  |

Its tricky though Wales for instance would more than likely not have qualified for the last 2 tournaments if it was still 16 teams.
32 is to many with only 55 teams in qualifying.
The only other way they could have done it was have the 6 group winners plus best 2 runners up and go straight to quarters.

While Portugal (in my opinion luckily) won the last tournament the stars of the finals were Iceland and Wales.
Neither would qualify if only the 'best teams' were to go through.
Special player from smaller footballing countries would never play in a major tournament.
Interst in the game would dwindle.
In the 1995 season Wales attracted a crowd of 8,00 when playing Moldova who eventually finished above Cymru. Cymru avoided the 6th place of 6 on goal difference over Albania.

No. Interest was only slaved by two decent games against Germany.
The comping tournament is messy because eUEFA have trie to celebrate 5 years by including as many teams and venues as possible.

Just looked. There are flights, if you don't mind having a stop or 2, so it takes about 17 hours to get there and back, for less than £400. From 12th to 18th June.
Loads of very cheap accommodation. Small hotels with brekky for £20 a night. Or apartments to share.
Flights likely to come down as the Rush subsides. | |

We’re doing very similar.
Flying from Bristol to Pisa on the Friday.
Train to Florence then, stay there for the Friday and potentially all of Sat, not sure yet.

There is naff all in Pisa so we picked Florence as I've been before and its small enough for a couple of days and that hostel looks quality with plenty pubs/bars...etc around and its very much a student town so plenty of nightlife and nonsense.
The journey back to Pisa will be a bit of a ball ache but our flights back are late afternoon with some going to Stanstead and some going to Leeds Bradford.
