| Perhaps they should stop the kneeling now. on 11:36 - Aug 25 by Dr_Parnassus | Why stop at racism? Why aren’t we hopping on one leg for feminism after kneeling? Then we can sit down for 30 seconds to prove we don’t like domestic abuse, 10 forward rolls to prove we aren’t transphobic and then finish it off with 5 spins in a row to prove we aren’t homophobic. Got any others you can think of? Of course failure to comply with those actions mean you are complicit in any and all of the above. You in? Or do you reckon that’s pretty stupid too? All of those things would of course break health and safety rules so we can't, I couldn't anyway! Of course were talking purely about BLM and taking the knee, I am quite willing to speak out about other injustices, even when it gets silly. We need a bit of silliness now and again. As for stupidity (where humans are concerned) it is the default setting for humanity and so, ever present. | |

Well I’m sure we can come up with something creative that complies with health and safety. Up for it? We can maybe dedicate 30 mins before a game. 2 mins each gesture and we can think of 15 social justice issues to “promote”. This BLM thing is based on a lie. Simple as that.

Are you mstaking me for someone who supported BLM and taking the knee? I was called a racist for denying BLM, for saying all racism was wrong. Just so you know. Part of the reason I couldn't take part is since Christmas I'd stopped going to games for health reasons. maybe, if I'm better and up to it I will join in with a protest at discrmination towards disabled people! Though the Swans are pretty good in that department. None of us have been to games since March anyway of course and who knows when we'll go again? In my case, maybe never.

"He who permits himself to tell a lie once finds it much easier to do it the second time" Also Jefferson. https://www.spectator.co.uk/ar So tell us, what are BLM actually about? Why do so many protestors make black power salutes? Why is it wrong to point out that racism and slavery, both historical and modern affected and still affects vast numbers of people who aren't black? On second thoughts, don't bother. We've been there and done it and I will stick with all racism is bad, wherever it comes from, whoever it is aimed at, it is bad.

Jefferson owned hundreds of slaves, Killy. Perhaps not the best chap to be quoting in the circumstances. Here’s a better one for you and closer to home from our old pal Archbishop Charlie Chaput, very prescient too: ”Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.”

The following statement of yours- Why is it wrong to point out that racism and slavery, both historical and modern affected and still affects vast numbers of people who aren't black Nobody is disagreeing that racism is bad, you knew that though. What is in disagreement is the political arm of the BLM movement and the damage it has done to race relations. It’s put them back years. You knew that too!

| Perhaps they should stop the kneeling now. on 16:21 - Aug 25 with 1177 views | Dr_Parnassus | The movement stopped being about race after about the first hour. Since then it has turned into an ugly movement based on people wanting to feel important. It’s an ugly upshot of the social media age where everyone is clamouring for “likes” and views. They often say “when people in the future look back” and “we are part of something historical”. All they are seeing is themselves being able to say “I was part of that”. The difference being of course that historical movements of the past had a clear message and a clear goal. These kids are absolutely terrified of having to explain their reasoning because there isn’t any. As soon as debate is brought into it they either choose violence, run away or chant little ditties. All in all it’s incredibly embarrassing and the likes of Martin Luther King would be utterly ashamed of this lot that use his name to promote a message completely opposite to what he believed in. Fame hungry, social media driven kids with zero message, zero credibility and zero idea of what oppression really is. | |

| Perhaps they should stop the kneeling now. on 01:53 - Aug 25 by Dr_Parnassus | Ironically by disavowing BLM we would probably be doing far more good for the black community and global race relations than backing it. Although people are just too stupid to realise it. I agree though, it’s very important that people start speaking up about this destructive, divisive and racist political organisation. Matt LeTissier tried, he said he was not comfortable wearing the BLM badge on SKY and was told on no uncertain terms that he HAD to. His clear and obvious reasoning which has nothing to do with race appears to be irrelevant to them. [Post edited 25 Jun 2023 21:40]

The Looney left or the rabid right? Taking the knee,Blm badges poppy badges. 10 yrs ago there was no political symbols on shirts. Let's go back to those days and not force anyone to Wear a poppy or a BLM badge.

There were/are posters on here who were happy to denounce anyone as a racist unless they gave 100% support to BLM. People (myself included) who dared to say all racism is bad were accused of trying to undermine and water down the BLM message and were called racists. Most of those posters moved to the other board but a few are still around. Anybody who dared mention that other colours had suffered racism and slavery were treated the same. I reckon you knew that though.

Well there’s certainly an argument to be had whether the poppy is a political symbol or not. To many it’s a symbol of remembrance. It’s not trying to promote anything or change anything, whereas BLM obviously is.

For most of my life the poppy was to pay respect to every ordinary soldier who died in battle. It was solemn and it was dignified. It was not about the good and the great, it was about everyone. It was no triumphant - it was reflective. You felt you wanted to make a small contribution, to do your bit. No pressure to confirm but a willingness to appreciate those who gave their futures. I think its changed in the last decade or so. It feels triumphant now, it feels its about being empire. It feels different and it feels wrong. Its changed. I think it needs changing back. Its lost its core value. Needs handing back to the people, not controlled by the MSM.

Find me one example where it’s triumphant and a symbol of empire. Have you ever been to a remembrance service? There’s nothing triumphant about it. The only people who connect it to empire are perpetual morons like Owen Jones or James McLean. The wars that the poppy is most associated with are the two world wars and the napoleonic wars, all of those conflicts we were not the aggressor, we were defending ourselves, our way of life and our people.

MLK was detested when he was protesting against discrimination in the US. Some white people are never happy when any black people speak about racism. A lot of the people on this thread would have been amongst them I reckon, including yourself.

Brilliant. If you dont agree with somebody, then just shout at them until they change their mind. You are displaying the very intolerance that i am flagging. I dont need your fecking approval to remember the way i want to remember. Who the feck are you to judge...? The way i remember is no better than the way you remember, and the way you remember is no better than the way i remember. Your relatives who fought were not more deserving than mine, and my relatives who fought were not more deserving than yours. Mostly they had little choice. Thats the whole point. If it feels jingoistic to me then it is. Equally you might think it is not jingoistic.

I'm not sure we can say we were defending ourselves with either World War. On both occasions we declared war against Germany, not the other way round.
