I think the Poppy badges are different, acceptable. They are truly inclusive and a means of rememberance for everybody who served regardless of colour, creed or religion. It's not political it's a social thing.

Otherwise agreed, politis shouldn't be allowed into sport and FIFA's own rules don't allow political messages in football, unless it's BLM obviously.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Why is it different?
If you want wear a poppy wear one,but don't make people wear one.
Keep it all out of football.
It has only been put on football shirts in the last couple of yrs.
Same as BLM badges .

As long as it keeps upsetting you lot on here, I hope our players keep on doing it.

You lot are hung up on the extreme group of BLM nutjobs who are in no way representative of the normal black persons who have suffered horrific racism.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

So a new season starts, they have a new anti-racism slogan which is more relevant, and they still take the knee.
[Post edited 13 Sep 2020 9:08]

They will continue to take the knee until fans are allowed back in the stadium and make it clear that we do not approve.
I predict that the week fans are allowed back into the stadium a decision will be taken not to continue...that way they won't have to face the consequences of their actions and all of the lefty idiots can continue to lie to themselves that it's just a few racists that disapprove of their idiotic ideas.

It's a bit like the EU, pro EU elites can continue to pretend that they are all powerful as long as they don't have to face the European public in a referendum.
Lying to themselves has become a way of life for the left. A way of dealing with cognitive dissonance and keeping the scary world out there at bay.

Which is the whole point.
They should not be supported in any way, they have made the divisions much worse.

The poppy hasn't been hijacked mate.
The poppy is universal and has become part of the British way of life, a tradition.

BLM is a foreign import that is only a few years old and is explicitly a political movement with a set of political objectives.

...when was the last time you saw people remembering the war dead, wearing poppies, rioting and attacking our public servants, our monuments, our history.

Stick to the truth is it.

I agree, as much as I agree 100% with what the poppy stands for, I don’t think there is any need for it to be on shirts, there shouldn’t be any slogan or non club related logo on shirts.

Big piece on Black Lives Matter, with all sports, different sportsmen, black and white, explaining their support, and how things must change for the better. Quality little piece.

I wonder if someone could imbed the video on here and make it a sticky.

Sounds horrific.

I would love to get a 2 minute conversation with any of those reading their pre prepared scripts and see their views fold like a cheap set of cards.

But we both know nobody that claims to hold those opinions would enter into any kind of debate about it...

Here’s a short ad for sky’s support of ending racism, you have to say though that what is being said is relevant to anyone, regardless of colour.

https://www.sky.com/watch/blac

“Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something” is as relevant to a kid from a poor family from a council estate as it is to a POC

Lewis Hamilton wearing a shirt which says something about a black girl that was shot in the USA in March.

Imagine if the white drivers wore similar shirts highlighting whites murdered by blacks.....

How would that go down with the tv stations and sports governing bodies?

You think those sportsmen that featured today were speaking from a script? So without even hearing what they were saying, you’re telling us that they’re wrong. Shows you for what you are.

You’re damaged goods son.

The result isn’t their goal, they don’t give two hoots. It’s simply fashionable to align yourself with it, it’s currently making business sense to. Companies are falling over themselves to get a piece of the BLM branding. It’s simply brazen marketing.

Sit down with any of these people and ask why they support BLM, what their aims are (not what you want them to be, actually what they are), where you think inequality exists and in what form.

They wouldn’t be able to get to the end of that conversation without realising they are barking up the wrong tree and refusing to comment further. 4 simple questions that should be incredibly easy to answer if there was any validity behind this movement at all yet they are impossibly to answer without making yourself look a bit of a berk.

I would think any pre recorded piece on a fairly complex political situation will be scripted yes. Especially when such political commentary is coming from sportsmen and women who on the whole don’t tend to be academically gifted, especially on political subjects.

NeathJack, you are more than welcome to explain to me the reasoning behind BLM. You have now responded to me 3 or 4 times in total to throw some sort of insult my way, which is odd really as we used to get on pretty well.

You could have used that time and effort to have put forward some compelling views which we could all learn from. Instead you seem petrified to get into it and run off at every opportunity - which of course is the theme of every single conversation with a BLM supporter.

They think is sounds virtuous, that’s why they support it. That’s as deep as the thought goes. But by all means I’d be happy to discuss it...

The same Lewis Hamilton that lectured the western world to get rid of racist symbology while wearing a Mercedes badge on his head who are steeped in slavery and is the face of Hugo Boss who made the uniforms for the Nazis... all while re-directing his significant cash earnings offshore to avoid tax which is used to improve the lives of the people in his community he claims to care for and taking it to Monaco, one of the whitest areas in Europe.

As much as the likes of Neath Jack get taken in by these idiots, I’m afraid that’s all they are - idiots. They wouldn’t last 2 minutes in an actual debate about these things. They say these things because it sounds virtuous and it’s good for the brand. That’s as far as it goes.

Nobody puts it better than Ricky when it comes to celebrity virtue:-

I am not sure horrific racism is the main issue listening to people speak. It is the more subtle stuff.

However I am sure those that have experienced racism, identify it’s source as people who like to classify others and taunt them as a group whilst considering themselves superior ;)

BLM branding is the problem, given its creation from self described trained Marxists, To the extreme political objectives of formally listed affiliate groups. To the lawlessness and violence. To the existing BLM UK, a prime beneficiary of donations thanks to all the free advertising. But are basically a hard left wing political organisation to whom abolitionism is the only way, and black lives, who do not agree with their extreme political ideology, certainly do not matter to them as they have made plain. Skin ain’t necessarily kin.

Also the whole kneeling, we don’t kneel to those that gave their lives for their country, or for women (one of the most abused and enslaved groups of all time), nor for girl A et al, with ‘daddy heaving on top of her whilst telling her in ‘his country’ girls of 11 can have sex. Nor for the lost children of Aberfan. Nor the little girl playing happily in the park on mother’s day who had her throat slit. So why now, does it imply the other things mentioned were less important?

Differentiating does not resolve difference.
