| Fulton on 09:01 - Oct 28 by MoscowJack | I think Jay's seen Smith come into the team and thought "I'm better than him". I really like Jay and have followed him closely since he joined us from Falkirk about 6 years ago. I think he's an intelligent footballer who really reads the game well. He isn't a ball-watcher, as some are. I was watching him (off of the ball) and he was constantly looking around for danger, assessing others' positions and looking extremely assured. It's no surprise, to me, that Grimes put in a much better performance as Jay covers so much ground and lets Grimes get on the ball (in space) more. He's also one of the few dirty/tough players that we've got and is very strong in the air (in both boxes). Strangely, Jay looked more assured on and off the ball than I've ever seen and I'm putting it down to his growing experience and realisation that he needs to visibly have more impact during his time on the pitch than he previously used to. I hope he starts on Saturday. |

| Fulton on 09:15 - Oct 28 by ItchySphincter | Palmer put McClean firmly back in his box. God, we've been crying out for that kind of controlled aggression for years. Not only was it symbolic but it also contributed to McClean being terrified to get another booking in the minutes that led to Palmer's goal. I've gone from being the jury's out on Palmer to being a fully paid up member of the fan club - more for the tackle than the goal. It is a massive positive influence on those around him. As for Fulton - excellent, as he often is. He does have a tendency towards petulant fouls when he doesn't get his way but I forgive him that for his generally all round decent play and work rate. Shame he hasn't got an exotic name. ...and while we're at it, George Byers, not popular with some but a very good footballer who would thrive in a team that plays the way we did in the first half last night. |
Take my membership fee aswell itchy, I loved that challenge. May sound stupid but seeing one of the swans players crunch a complete tw*t like that is worth the entrance fee alone, imagine the reaction if that was a full house. He's obviously highly thought of is Palmer, but lacking in confidence since being out of the team at Bristol City, that goal will do him a world of good and I'm hoping we can reap the benefits. Also - Good to see Moscow back posting, the more on here that can have a decent chat/debate about football the better.

Think Jimmy Rebel was rather staggered to see a Swans player front up. McClean, like all hi ilk a bully.Stand up to them and they shrink.Well done Mr Palmer

It would be good to see it again. Loved how he backed off when palmer stood upto him. Would have been even better if there was a crowd there.
| Fulton on 12:50 - Oct 28 with 476 views | swancity | We have players in the squad now who can physically compete. Leaders. A tackle like that can have a wider positive effect especially away from home. Bennett Guehi Cabango Palmer Fulton Smith and Grimes aren’t afraid of a challenge. We want to play our football but you have to be up for a fight. Fair play to Cooper he’s getting that balance right. | |

I think Guehi is a great player in the context of The Championship and could easily step up to the Premier League next weekend if needed.

If you wait 6 years to celebrate one game, then i think you would be delighted. Its amazing how Swansea - so far away - ignored almost every other academy in Scotland, and took about 10 Academy players from mighty Falkirk. All Premier league potential for sure, and all from a nation that has hardly produced a player since the 1970s. That how smart we were ...... 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ .. ?

Can you name the 10?. it sounds unlikely but you might be right. I got the feeling it was three or four.

Ok here we go. Falkirk to Swanse city. Ryan Blair Stenhousemuir Boti Biabbi Stenhousemiur Adam King Dundee Utd. Steven Kinglsey Hearts Jay Fulton Swansea. Kingsley could probably hold down a place and playing at a high level. 40% sucess rate.

Falkirk - Ryan Blair, Botti Biabi, Jay Fulton, Stephen Kinglsey Hearts - Adam King iirc our scout up there was best mates with the Hearts chairman and working for Falkirk at the same time. Falkirk closed their academy as soon as we stopped paying hundreds of grand a head for their products. Disagree that Fulton's "not a ball-watcher". He's good at cover spaces and maintaining shape but the number of times he lets players run off the back of him is maddening when we're under the cosh. Likes a tackle but all too often plants his feet and goes all or nothing. Can look brilliant or you forget he's even playing (think it was a QPR game where their midfield run through him like he wasn't, over and over), and has cost us in the past. There's no great mystery why Jay hasn't managed to hold down a regular place. Does look a bit fitter this season. Not as heavy-footed and not keeling over knackered after an hour. Definitely a more skilful footballer than Smith. Fingers-crossed he maintains a good run of games from here.
