Indeed, I'm answering your statement of it isn't spread through touching things. It may be less of a chance, but it is still a massive factor in the spread of it. You imagine someone coughing on a shelf or other hard surface in a shop or pub etc. You then have a cigarette, eat something, touch a glass then drink etc.
