| Swansea City v Bristol City: Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH 11:23 - Feb 25 with 17780 views | NotLoyal | English Football Championship Swansea City v Bristol City Saturday 27th February 2021 Kick off 3pm Liberty Stadium TV : SWANS TV RADIO : BBC RADIO WALES & TALK SPORT 2 Match officials KEITH STROUD Jonathan Hunt and Sam Lewis Fourth Official : Scott Tallis It’s good to see Keith from Stroud in charge of this game, he hasn’t got that far to drive and can get a lift back on the Bristol City team coach if he parks up on the M4/M5 junction. Lovely kebab van near there too, think about it Keith, it’s definitely an option pal. Keith from Stroud will probably park up near the kebab van next to the M4/M5 and jump on the Wurzel bus to the Liberty Stroud last officiated a swans game on December 2nd 2020 when Middlesbrough beat the swans 2-1. He booked Grimes and Dhanda that day because he was scared of Neil Warnock. Steve Cooper didn’t bother him that much, but that was before Andy Woolmer went looking for it. We do have information that Stroud is now a bit concerned about this game because he doesn’t like Cooper either. We think, it might not be true, but if it is then it’s almost certainly correct. Stroud was also the ref for the first leg play off against Brentford last year, that night he went a bit nuts, but recovered well enough to drive home. Stroud always kisses the ball and has avoided Covid all season by drinking a litre of turpentine before and after each match Obviously all of us here at Swansea Independent urge you not to drink turpentine, unless you are in Newcastle with Hoddle and Waddle singing their number one classic tune about cleaning paint brushes in the fog. Matches against Bristol City generally close affairs except the 2005 game which the swans won 7-1. The robins manager, Brian Tinnion, sat on the away bench after the game for three days, he was eventually removed by court order. Brian Tin Tin Tinnion no relation to Stephen Tin Tin Duffy, but equally as shit Cardiff City’s main rivals, Bristol City visit the Liberty and will have to drive past Cardiff on the M4 which will of course terrify them, what with this big rivalry between the two clubs that isn’t. This game would have been ear marked for an easy three points a few weeks ago, but much has changed. Nigel Pearson, that throat grabbing box of fun is the newly appointed manager and the Robins as they are known have new orange chests and feathers. New robins manager Nigel ‘the strangler get a grip on yourself ‘ Pearson Bristol City are commonly known as the fans who don’t turn up alongside Cardiff who are the fans who make things up, and East Stirlingshire who are in Scotland. Incredibly the dialect in Bristol is known as Wurzel, we had a look at typical sayings in Wurzel Bristol, and they basically were the same as everywhere else, which almost places them in the ‘making things up’ bracket with Cardiff. They played for both sides Lee Trundle Steve Torpey There are others but I can’t be bothered. Early team news Swansea City Kyle Naughton suffered an injury during the second half against Coventry City. Wayne Routledge is still out as is Liam Cullen. It’s looking like Ryan Bennett won’t make this game either which is a huge blow again for the swans. The swans ( as we know them ) have won eight of their last eleven league games, drawing two and losing only one. The club by all accounts is in crisis. Burzle City The tractor will be somewhat empty as Angela Lansbury is out, as is Alfie Mawson. Weimann is also out and a bloke called O’Dowda. And another bloke called Martin and Dasilva too. Oh, and that Watkins fella. Bristol City won last time out 3-1 at Middlesbrough. They lost the previous seven matches on the bounce. The last time they won was 2-1 against Huddersfield Town in January, yes them. Current League Table More to follow most likely.

Hes literally just said Cooper's doing 'ok'. How on earth do you equate that to 'fan love'!?

Personally for me I think Cooper is doing an ok job given the circumstances. We are in with a real shout of automatic promotion..I still believe his bosses have given hom the target of promotion back to the PL this season just to help out on the financials even if we get relegated we get more parachute payments. Each of those managers have had their fair share of "love" and "hate" from the fan base Sousa was judged against ROberto and though he played some defensive football just us closer to the play off zone than Roberto Jackett well I think people were "fond " of him he got us success yrt fell at the final hurdle to get us to the Championship In firness Brendan could do no wrong....Laudrup cam in for a lot of stick in his second season, then the slide began...I will be honest I had no love for Bradley....and how you could compare hom withj Cooper is a joke, just the sa,e as comparing Coops with Laudrup! Again watch the highlights.....Cooper and his assisitant are seen ion converstaion following the penalty obviuosly discussing what to do....only for Grimes to have a brain fart and then we found ourselves on equal terms again. You are being personal ....judging Steve by his physucal appearance .....and therefore making assumptions on his mental abilty Like others before him Cooper will undoubtedly move on...either being pushed or jumping ship....as in the past Swanse City FC will continue and move on to another chapter but until then I will continue to support my team and its manager....Cooper has his faults I agree but he is not the hapless inept manager so many on here keep harping on about especially after games like Saturday quick with the comments of how he was "outsmarted" by Pearson ....evn though he actually wasnt but that does not suit the agenda and narrative of those on here who are so "anti-Cooper" that they "slant" the actual evidence to support their claims even though it proves the opposite. |
I don't know why people insist on blaming Grimes (brain fart?) for their first goal. The fault lay fairly and squarely with Hourihane who received the ball from Guehi and gave him an awful, telegraphed, blind, short pass that was intercepted. I'm not normally one to defend Grimes, but this was not his fault.

because he chose not to play the ball forwards to Roberts who was in space but put his foot on the ball and then pass it to Guehi. The highlights dont show that moment when Grimes does that.Had he passed it forwards the Hourihane pass would never had happened

Well, how far do you want to go back? Who gave the ball to Grimes, who shouldn't have, before he gave it to Guehi, etc? There was only one poor pass leading up to the goal and it was Hourihane's. Edit: The full match is on the BCFC Robins TV website https://robinstv.bcfc.co.uk/ if you want to torture yourself. [Post edited 1 Mar 2021 22:40]

Ha ha you may as well blame him for the second and third as well because if he never made that pass the game wouldn't have gone as it would have...Jesus you can't blame him for hourihane pass if hourihane had swivelled played a perfect ball to ayew and scored would you say it was all about Grimes not passing to Roberts but his pass to hourihane that made it..no you wouldn't ....

well its the same as those who keep saying we lost becasue Pearson outsmarted Cooper with his tactical switch!!! Yes it was Hourihanes pass which gave away the goal but my point was Grimes chose a "defensive" move rather than attacking....At the end of the day it is what it is..but we didnt lose because Cooper was apparantly outsmarted by Pearsons better tactical nous!

This is where it comes back too what I said in another thread, players are constantly watched for stats these days..and many players rather give the easy ball than the risky as their pass percentage will be higher..that's why I say dhanda is different to what we got as he tries passes and tries open things up with risky passes if they come off they can be decisive passes to open teams up but if not people moan should given easy ball.but as I say today's game players afraid to make mistake as stats are analysed even to get a move..so if you make risky passes and don't come off your percentage is down that's why a lot players go for easy option....unless your naughton who kicks it anywhere

No Apparent about it. The Hudds manager apparently did the same. Apparently and statistically ,Brizzle and Huddersfield (twice) were having a terrible run of results. Hudds got thrashed again at Preston who were also on a bad run. Apparently is often what one sees.

YOur eveidence fixing is beginning to show. We didnt lose against Brsitol becasue of Pearsons tactics! We lost because we gifted them an easy goal not long after we had taken the lead Yes despite the foprmation change Pearson made which did reduce our attacking dominance form the first half we still created an attacking opportunity whihc led to a penalty and then a goal with us being ahead despite Pearsons tactical superiority we took the lead. Then we gifed them a goal...our head dropped thirs rose despite this we still maganged to attack their goal...We then conceded from a corner...with Palmer using hos inside knowledge to get past our usually secure set piece defending. Despite being 1-2 down the side continued to attack and find an equaliser, Arriola blasting a golden chance over the bar,had that gone in the game may have turned out differently. Then your favourite player gifted them another easy goal it was then game over. " goals gifted by player mistakes and the failure to convert the opportunities presented in the first half cost us that game not the perceived ineptness of our manager compared to Pearsons apparant tactical switch...which he did make it did reduce our dominance but it didnt stop us taking the lead....at that point we should have been in control and were despite the tactical change .....Houriahnes error gave them the equaliser....

Sorry ,rewrite that. Better still ,rethink your position.
