| Swansea City v Bristol City: Matchday Thread THE AFTERMATH 11:23 - Feb 25 with 17763 views | NotLoyal | English Football Championship Swansea City v Bristol City Saturday 27th February 2021 Kick off 3pm Liberty Stadium TV : SWANS TV RADIO : BBC RADIO WALES & TALK SPORT 2 Match officials KEITH STROUD Jonathan Hunt and Sam Lewis Fourth Official : Scott Tallis It’s good to see Keith from Stroud in charge of this game, he hasn’t got that far to drive and can get a lift back on the Bristol City team coach if he parks up on the M4/M5 junction. Lovely kebab van near there too, think about it Keith, it’s definitely an option pal. Keith from Stroud will probably park up near the kebab van next to the M4/M5 and jump on the Wurzel bus to the Liberty Stroud last officiated a swans game on December 2nd 2020 when Middlesbrough beat the swans 2-1. He booked Grimes and Dhanda that day because he was scared of Neil Warnock. Steve Cooper didn’t bother him that much, but that was before Andy Woolmer went looking for it. We do have information that Stroud is now a bit concerned about this game because he doesn’t like Cooper either. We think, it might not be true, but if it is then it’s almost certainly correct. Stroud was also the ref for the first leg play off against Brentford last year, that night he went a bit nuts, but recovered well enough to drive home. Stroud always kisses the ball and has avoided Covid all season by drinking a litre of turpentine before and after each match Obviously all of us here at Swansea Independent urge you not to drink turpentine, unless you are in Newcastle with Hoddle and Waddle singing their number one classic tune about cleaning paint brushes in the fog. Matches against Bristol City generally close affairs except the 2005 game which the swans won 7-1. The robins manager, Brian Tinnion, sat on the away bench after the game for three days, he was eventually removed by court order. Brian Tin Tin Tinnion no relation to Stephen Tin Tin Duffy, but equally as shit Cardiff City’s main rivals, Bristol City visit the Liberty and will have to drive past Cardiff on the M4 which will of course terrify them, what with this big rivalry between the two clubs that isn’t. This game would have been ear marked for an easy three points a few weeks ago, but much has changed. Nigel Pearson, that throat grabbing box of fun is the newly appointed manager and the Robins as they are known have new orange chests and feathers. New robins manager Nigel ‘the strangler get a grip on yourself ‘ Pearson Bristol City are commonly known as the fans who don’t turn up alongside Cardiff who are the fans who make things up, and East Stirlingshire who are in Scotland. Incredibly the dialect in Bristol is known as Wurzel, we had a look at typical sayings in Wurzel Bristol, and they basically were the same as everywhere else, which almost places them in the ‘making things up’ bracket with Cardiff. They played for both sides Lee Trundle Steve Torpey There are others but I can’t be bothered. Early team news Swansea City Kyle Naughton suffered an injury during the second half against Coventry City. Wayne Routledge is still out as is Liam Cullen. It’s looking like Ryan Bennett won’t make this game either which is a huge blow again for the swans. The swans ( as we know them ) have won eight of their last eleven league games, drawing two and losing only one. The club by all accounts is in crisis. Burzle City The tractor will be somewhat empty as Angela Lansbury is out, as is Alfie Mawson. Weimann is also out and a bloke called O’Dowda. And another bloke called Martin and Dasilva too. Oh, and that Watkins fella. Bristol City won last time out 3-1 at Middlesbrough. They lost the previous seven matches on the bounce. The last time they won was 2-1 against Huddersfield Town in January, yes them. Current League Table More to follow most likely.

| Swansea City v Bristol City: Matchday Thread GAME DAY ! on 18:12 - Feb 27 by Dr_Winston | Need to show we can do more than nick a goal or two then hold on for grim death. If we start leaking more goals then that's going to get very ugly very quickly. Still a frustrating lack of proactivity from Cooper, whether it be selecting the basic same XI game in, game out or largely ignoring the subs bench until it's too late in games for them to make a difference. |
But he didn't make changes and we made enough chances to win that game in the first half alone,so the XI point doesn't really stand up. Admittedly id have started Smith myself but i was proved wrong by the performance. Subs maybe. But of course one of them had a golden chance and he completely fluffed it.

A definite argument for resting Lowe and giving Whitaker a go. But we committed football suicide today. Massive problems at SCFC

Wow wow. "Massive problems" . Really!? We're a few points off 2nd with games in hand ffs. And we've just played a game in which we created enough chances to win 2 games. Cooper said just this week Whittaker isn't up to speed yet too. [Post edited 27 Feb 2021 18:28]

Brentford lost a couple on the bounce and now seem to have turned that corner again. Frustrating but we just need to forget it and move on. Would be quite happy for us to win 1-0 next time out with 10% possession and 1 shot all game.

Maybe a fresher XI would have taken those chances. Proved wrong by the performance? We lost 3-1.

Can't say that because the likes of Bidwell / Cabango etc expended enough energy to get into the position to have those very clear cut almost open goal chances. In fact Bidwell you could argue over extended himself with that chance. It was luck, nothing more, so that point doesn't stand up. Yes the starting eleven would have bearing on the first half performance where we restricted them to zero shots on target&created numerous guilt edged chances to score and put the game out of sight where they should have also been down to ten. So yes the decision i would have made to start Smith for example wouldn't have been justified. For the 2nd half, got to give some credit to the wurzels and their new manager, then they didn't look like scoring until 1 individual error, followed by a crazy bounce which you can't legislate for. And following that he made subs one of which missed an absolute sitter. Did you actually watch the game?

| Swansea City v Bristol City: Matchday Thread GAME DAY ! on 17:43 - Feb 27 by Chief | I know it's hurting but grow up. Was it Dhanda who missed open goals, didn't send their player off or kicked the ball against their striker so it deflected in? |
Well said! There were mistakes all over the pitch.. THE big problem was we couldn’t score from open play with about half a dozen opportunities. If we had, the other cockups wouldn’t have mattered

Spot on. The idea that we lost that game because Cooper is clueless is laughable. 9x out of 10 Birdwell scores at the back stick, 9x out of 10 hourihane scores the point blank header. We bottled a series of sitters then proceeded to make a series of individual errors that handed Brizzle their goals on a silver platter. What is Cooper supposed to do? Get in goals and catch the corner Woodman fluffed? He's not perfect and I have a lot of gripes with him but he can't kick every ball from the touchline. Does he get any credit for the excellent first half performance then? If we're going to blame him for the 2nd half capitulation?

You make a good point, but we've been off for a good while, luckily its been masked by us picking up 3 pts in those games, the chickens came home to roost today though and that's twice in a week. Cooper picks the same team regardless, to me that shows that he hasn't got the confidence in the other players, Smith should have started Manning as well and there's a reasonable argument to have started Morgan as well, lot of his first picks are stale, team needs a shake up IMHO.

Yes like the last time then he had a purple patch and back to same ways can't hold ball can't pass without giving away or wrong option and offers nothing other than run around working hard yes but we need more than that...

Don't get me wrong I've been screaming out for a lot of those changes for the past couple of weeks. I think Cooper's stubborn insistence on a core of about 13/14 players is one of his faults and I hope to see him right it going forward. But unlike previous games, the team Cooper sent out did more than enough to win that game for the first 60 minutes. Our failure to score, then the goals conceded, were the fault of individual players not a failure of how he set us up for the match.

In fairness Max, we beat Norwich and we were all bouncing, in hindsight perhaps it would have been better to have played Wednesday instead of the postponement. Since then we have won 2 lost 2, the worrying thing has been the goals we have conceded. Hopefully this has been our blip, like Norwich and Brentford suffered over 3 games

Talking far too much sense for the irrational to comprehend. The irrational denigrate the team effort no matter what. It's as though they support some other random team. The starting XI was wrong apparently by some beaut. The XI that totally outclassed, out manoeuvred the great Pearson and should have been 3-0 up at the break. Boys against men. Bit like on here at times today. Some miserable types are only happy when they moan. And when they like to appear aloof. The matchday thread spiralled when one of the twps collapsed in a heap, again, embarrassingly. Unable to string a comprehensible sentence before skulking off. Dhanda should have been hooked. Smith was a mistake. Pretty sure the manager will continue to learn, whereas our twpest posters never, ever will.

They adapted and went from being almost non-existent in the game to being in the game but poor. Can anyone point me to the chance after chance they created 2nd half? Even in the 2nd half, when we created a lot less, we arguably still had the better of the chances. The sum total of their tactical change was that they looked a bit more solid defensively. They still created nothing going forward. Those goals weren't coming. I've had a couple of pints so forgive me for going off on one, but the idea that anything but unforgivable mistakes from our players cost us is bonkers.

Just can't do basics...can't hold ball his first touch on times goes further than I can kick ball.his passing is dreadfull, either too short or too long or just wayward.makes wrong options when in on goal..agree had a little run before Xmas but overall been poor. Dhanda is a good player whose always looking to drive us forward and keep us moving...
