I don’t think there was a feasible striker, it would be pointless in me providing a list. It would be far easier for someone who thinks there was one to then show it. No amount of your attempted insults will change common sense sadly. [Post edited 18 Mar 2021 14:33]

First of all the Brisbane river is muddy;hence the very sharp analogy . I believe Steve to be devious, sly ,arrogant and plain dumb in that order. He has though conned many happy clappers so pitifully up his arris its painful to behold. He has had enough windows to have set us up for a return to the Prem. To give the impression he didnt want some players is no excuse. If that were the case,he should have walked there and then. We were calling our for a striker before a ball was kicked in August. We havent one in March. We have a recruitment team apparently who signed young Whittaker,Cooper says isn't ready. In his two cameo roles,he scored first touch v Mancheter City,as his chums floundered and at Bournemouth drew a great save from Bergovic with his first touch again. Imagine this lad with some back up,some support.Sadly,Cooper would have him flogged to death like Jamal who is clearly unhappy. We are so left sidedly ill balanced its laughable,at least to outsiders. It LOOKS a joke.Manning,Hollie Ayew Grimes Bidwell -all in one team. Tell me this is planned? The media love him, although many know jackshyte ;hencce the comments re Woody's excellent distribution.Clear evidence they ve not seen this guy bury the ball into touch. Which bring me to the keeper himself. Why he was brought back ,to me,simply staggers when there are plenty of big, solid, decent shot stoppers out there. He is an embarrassment . Why bring in Hamer if never to consider him / I pray to God Steve is poached soon by a club reading his impressive CV because we need to employ an experienced manager asap and not a yes man to owners .

You want fans on a message board to come up with names to prove "your" point? And when you've scraped this little barrel what will there be next? Fans to decide next season's budget? Who we should get in as catering? Maybe what colour to paint the new manager's office when this shithouse walks through the door? |
I assume you are referring to Cooper as a shithouse? This is the whole issue everyone is entitled to opinions but when sensible arguements are offered which do not meet the anti-Cooper brigade they are belittled. I get fed up with the guy is "lucky" he has been found out arguments...how can someone be so lucky 2 seasons in the trot to get his team....which in comparison to most others is weakerin the league into "promotion" positions. A loss percentage this season of 19% lets compare that to say Potter and Klopp Brighton under Potter have a lost 39%of their games, won 21% and drawn 39% this manager who plays attcking football so we say has got his team to score an average of 1.035 goals per game whilst they have conceded 1.28 goals per game Liverpool managed by that great manger Klopp have lost 31% of their games, including a run of several games without a win or draw, won 44% and drawn 25% scoring an average of 1.65 goals per game and conceding 1.24 (given their spectacular set of forwards and how their defence has been decimated these are interesting stats). Liilte old Swansea managed by Steve lucky Cooper,as stated lost only 19% .won 55% and drawn 26 % scoring an average of 1.25 goals per game and conceding 0.78 goals per game so the "defensive" Cooper team still has managed to outscore goals per game of the attacking "Potter) and not far away from a goal average of Liverpool. Cooper is much berated because many feel he is another Monk, Clement and looks for substance over style....the question is what do his bosses want, what have they told him? I have said it possibly he has been told to get us promoted....to do so he has to functional that means getting results ...at the sacrifice of "pretty" football..but I do not agree that this is his whole philosphy and that he has "coached this out of players". There have been many occasions ...even when we were supposedly sitting back defending a 1 nil lead that we as a team played some of the football we want and like to see...but unfortuneately many in here never rememebr this.... People respond to how they are measured..so Coopers approach could well be driven by the targets his bosses have set him. I am sure that all of us on here would be happy with people outside of our chosen professions giving their opionions how how we should perform our roles so our jobs because we may have a "little" knowledge or expereince of doing a similar task...yet we all know better than our manager....He has been accussed of ignoring the scieince....how do we know that the numbers for those who sit on the subs bench are better from the analysts and medical folk than those he is "flogging" to death? Under Cooper this season we have yet to lose back to back games....lets hope its not coming this week. We played with style and substance against Norwich and Cardiff, those two games stand out we have played with both in patches in many other games too. Yes of late we have ridden our luck and got results...Tuesday lets face it Bournemouth are still a Premier league outfit...and again we gifted them two goals.... The players never get the blame Cooper was blamed for the Bristol loss was it Coopers fault players could not convert the many chances into goals,or for making a sloppy pass allowing Bristol to pick up the ball and score? We were lucky to have witnessed theperiod form Martinez to Laudrup...but we must never forget they were different times...we had been through many periods of differing style etc post Toshack until then a real roller coaster....the Martinez revolution started in Lg 1 when the club was on the rise....different outlook run by fans with at that time different demands on the manager...Martinez failed to even get us to the playoffs with the quality he had in his squad which had a core of "longserving " players. The style evolved under SOusa and Rodgers and then we got to the promised land. All along the way there were players who had started with us in Lg2 enjoyed promotion joined by others as we progressed who had a band of brothers mentality from that day V Hull ....as managers changed those same players had to prove their worth finally being able to puff their chests out walking out in the PL at Man CIty having been "consigned 2to the lower leagues! Compare that to the last few seasons, relegated with finacnial issues, and a high turnover of players an now left with as I quote from yourself a team of loanees ....many of whom we have as a result of Cooper contacts. In the eyes of many fans he may be what you have chosen to call him..I expect to our owners he is doing the job they want..

A rather verbose reply making assumptions God forbid I should reply on behalf of Chris but the word you refer to is that which I have used and with good reason. In modern parlance it represents stubborness, lack of courage and incomptence the type one sees when an unbalanced team is selected and subs not made for flagging players who next game are flogged again. When we are rolling the ball out from the back direct to the opposition and a goalkeeper literally watching a shot roll past him, what is going through your mind.Forget this forumand happy postings,be honest. Are you happy? Are you happy to score in the 3rd minute and then defend the whole game. Are you happy with a keeper booked for time wasting in the 55th minute.FIFTY FIVE. when we are ONE nil ahead. Are you happy to see 4 utterly left footed players literally getting into each toers way as they cannot use the right foot at all. Tell me your happy and I 'll apologise, unreservedly.

REad and understand as you have didnt understand my verbose post Did I say I was happy? What I said was I think much of the crticism is "blinded" by emotion. The point of my post.....whilst we fans maybe unhappy with Cooper and the lack of attractive football amid all the opinions of us amateur managers what do his bosses think...is he performing to the goals/target he has been set? IF so that will be the driver of his behaviour. He is doing what he believes is best to get him the results that his bosses demand...not the fans his bosses. Again I chalenge the perception that we always sit back and defend once we have a lead....I have taken the time and trouble to rewatch matches and when the opportunity presents itself we attack...we just dont take 1/2 chances to keep attackinh. Where did my post say I was happy...? You are the ine making assumptions

Firstly, the term "shithouse" has become a tad playful now and maybe doesn't mean what you think it does, or maybe it does, I'm not sure. Secondly, why has our squad been weaker than others? That Leeds side that went up toiled and looked average for 2 seasons before Bielsa got there. You are making a very negative assumption based on very little. Thirdly, throwing stats out to compare with Klopp and Potter? What? And have you forgotten they are in the best league in the world and we are in an extremely basic league? Martinez coached his players, he took League 2 players to the Championship and instilled the coaching that meant some of them shone in the EPL. That's not done overnight. Bielsa took 2 seasons to get a very ordinary Leeds squad promoted to becoming everyone's favourite second side - and how? By coaching them, drilling into them to keep moving, keep the ball moving, never stand still, don't let the ball stand still. Pass and move and get up that effing pitch. Cooper is the antithesis of that. He is the anti-christ of football and no matter where he is or how much he will have to spend he will only be capable of "pragmatic" football. And that's the kindest adjective I can think of for him.

No, if I could then I would also be wondering why we didn’t sign them. But if I criticise someone for not bringing someone in, I would most certainly have someone in mind to ensure such a move was possible. I don’t believe such a list exists of feasible candidates. Happy to see one though.

Of course but you do not need to. I regard them at face value. They did not get the club relegated. That was done once the normally inspired ex chairman made a few mistakes and injuries struck. It was going to happen sooner or later. Swansea did not have the deep pockets to keep the PL staff and do an immediate return. Fron what i can see the relegation and readjustment has been managed well and the club has at no time dropped out of the top 30 teams in the English system. The team is competetive. When the club needed a cash injection the US investors came up with the cash and the Welsh owners dodged their round by declining to 'de risk' and hold cash. Holding shares in a Championship football team is the prinnacle of the risk pyramid. Going to court is off the scale. The members effectively handed over the Trust to people who do not understand the concept of risk. They should be ashamed of themselves. No one in their right mind whould want such people anywhere near the runnng of the club.

Burnley sold for at least £170m. Smaller football club in smaaler town with a dilapidated stadium. 21% of that is close on £37m not the £14m maximum to be recoved by legal action once £7m are given to the home counties posh boys. Inflation see butt. Forget about inflation and it kills you.

And that's the kindest adjective I can think of for him. |
so you have decided Cooper is only capable of playing pragmatic football....why? You too missed the point of my post...you quote tgat Nartinezs revolution didnt happen overnight,Bielsa took 2 seasons to transform Leeds abd get them promoted. In my original post i offer up a reason for Coopers approach that is our owbers gave targeted him with promotion before the parachute payments end...ie this season..That means he doesnt have the luxury of time...he needs results.and that means a sifferent approach to that allowed to Bielsa and Martinez...as i said how people are measured in the workplace dictates their behaviour. Maybe just maybe this could explain some things

- Burnley are a premier league club in their 5th consecutive season at that level. - They own their stadium. - They have a squad of premier league value players. - They apparently have £42million in the bank. - Their ownership structure as far as i know didn't involve any holding companies. So we're barely comparable to Burnley. The takeover was only for 84%, so they didn't buy the whole thing. Entirely possible that happens with us too where only the majority owners are bought out, leaving some small shareholders. Sound familiar? So let's leave it there. As lovely as your Burnley plan is, its pure fantasy. Not going to happen and these irrefutable differences above you've been told several times. So pay attention this time.

Cooper is not in the mould of Martinez, Bielsa or even Potter. Theyy guys do not compomise on their principles. Cooper is a developing coach but what you see is what he is in coaching terms. He believes its his way or the highway andas he keeps saying "we will not change". Fast flowing slick football is rarely seen and was at its best with Brewster Gallagher and briefly last season when Kalulu added much needed pace. Potter could play more attactive football with lesser players like Celina, Byers, John McKay and Courtney Baker Richardson.
