We do know though. The accounts are published. Audited independently as a legal requirement. Even Trust reps have consistently stated on here and elsewhere that there is no evidence of monies being taken out of the club unjustifiably. The only reason we're still going on about this is because some people refuse to believe what's staring them in the face, and because they can barely read a Janet & John book, never mind a balance sheet. | Yanks good owners discuss on 13:03 - Mar 17 by Dr_Parnassus | No it shows they WERE there. It’s like having 2m and saying why can’t we sign someone like Michu. Toney is on 21k a week and signed for 5m, way out of our budget. Pukki was signed by Norwich when in the Premier League. Neither would have been realistic for us this season even if both were available. I can’t think of a single striker available for 700k or less that we could afford salary wise and would come here. The fact nobody else has come up with a single name in these discussions also speaks volumes. So if there is no striker for our budget but we have a player available that the club thinks will increase in value over the next few years then it’s a no brainier to buy him instead of keep the cash in the bank and sulk that there is no strikers available. I'm not a scout at a football club, I don't know what players are available and who are not. Cauley Woodrow for Barnsley who is their top scorer was signed for the same amount as Whittaker was in January a few seasons back. He was signed from the lower leagues. There are strikers out there who we could have targetted for there here and now, not for three seasons time while we moan about not having a 9.

As stated, if Morris started instead of Lowe how would we feasibly have done any better. 1-1 draw Brentford away - we had 10 men 3-1 win Rotherham away 2-0 win Norwich home 3-1 loss Man City (he started) 1-0 win Forest home 4-1 Huddersfield loss (the game he got injured in and we conceded 3 in the 10 minutes following his introduction) So the only points we dropped other than the game he got injured in was Brentford away with 10 men, the first game after signing. So the only feasible argument you can make is you think we would have beaten Brentford away with 10 men if Morris stated. Which seems absurd. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 14:11]

But you aren’t a football manager either, to know who is playing well, fit, played well together, plays well with another player, plays well in a certain position etc etc etc To give views on one aspect of football management and then not on another claiming it isn’t your profession seems a bit of a cop out. You keep using hindsight to say “we could have got so and so years ago for x amount”. That’s not the dilemma. The dilemma is we had 700k this year to sign a striker. Nobody can think of a single suitable player for us. There is a reason for that. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 14:07]

Let's imagine you're a manager of a company/business and you need an article to do the job. It is for you to source and pay for that which you consider appropriate for the job. If you do not acquire the raw materials then it is down to you as you live or die by results in business. Be it football or anything else. It s about products for the job in hand

No it isn’t though, is it. Managers get given a choice of a few players and they pick which they prefer, that’s the usual way football clubs work. If Cooper has the tools to bring in the resources and didn’t do it, then that’s a different story. But if you think Cooper was given bags of money and a free reign to bring in who he likes, as per your job description then you are on a different planet.

We maysaswell knock this forum on the head then as there is nothing to discuss. Everything these football managers do is correct. Ayew and Lowe don't play well together, they never have done, zero chemistry. Elijah Adebayo who signed for Luton in January. Complete handful up front an an out and out 9. 23 years old, scores one in every three for Walsall prior to moving to Luton. Glen Murray - Free transfer - out an out 9. Charlie Austin - Loan instead of the expensive Hourihane deal. As a "9" is what Cooper has begged for. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 14:44]

Hard to argue with that surely. Our sourcing of players has been risible really. We utterly waste transfer windows. Murray would have been excellent but he doesnt fit our style of play apparently. Frankly,I wish we had a style of play apart from giving ball away whenever possible and trying to stroke the ball into the net.

Arriola clearly isn’t deemed to be good enough. Which was the concern before he was signed, many US based fans saying that it was pretty underwhelming. |
Arriola is not deemed good enough.Whttaker is not deemed good enough. Freeman is not deemed good enough. Manning and Latibeaudirere were not deemed good enough until Bidwell run out of gas and Guehi got a fatiuge injury and then they were deemed good enough. Roberts is a duracel player and will not be rested at all until his energy drops and so do his his performances. Where is the sport science? I thought it was 2021. Coopers entire squad is ether knackered or frustrated.

If cooper didnt want the Yanks and their players have been foisted on him ,then maybe he should have walked as you cannot do a job under those circumstances. I feel much is going on and both Potter and Cooper have been very coy. I d rather them be honest and come out and say wtf is going on there. |
Bodde was foisted on Martinez Kuqi and Trundle were foistered on Sousa. Brendan had players foistered on him. The big French centre back Situ and the Greek centre back who had one game. Bony and Amat were foistered on Laudrup. Monk was foisted on by Gomis Eder and Franck, Guidolin was foistered with Borja and Fer. Guidolin liked Fer and stated he had never heard of him. If Cooper does not accept the club players he should be sacked This is Swansea city. This is the way Swansea have done things for 15 years. Potter demanded his own man McCauley who foistered Asoro, McKay John and celina on the club then left leaving a shambles behind £6m+ out of pocket.

You made the point regarding it not being your profession, not me. I’m just pointing out the fact you use that excuse as and when it suits. So when we were all discussing strikers in January (Adebayo didn’t sign until Feb) did you mention him as someone we should buy? Charlie Austin is on 75k a week Glenn Murray is 39 next year year, on 32k a week and scored 2 Championship goals. There is an awful lot of revisionism and hindsight that goes on with these kind of discussions. Any Tom Dick and Harry can look at the transfers in January, pick out ones that worked and say “why didn’t we get him then?”. As for not getting Hourihane, he was a replacement for Gibbs White who we lost. Hourihane has come in and scored more frequently than anyone you just suggested. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 23:02]

Being available and being feasible aren’t the same things. Asdombalonga is on 35k a week as I told you, Glatzel is utterly rubbish and couldn’t even hold down a place in Cardiff’s team. Have you seen him play? He’s shocking. Charlie Austin is on 75k a week. Dykes has scored 5 in 31 games, far less than the player you are complaining about. I swear people think real life is a computer game, you can’t just pick people and they come. If you remember we were after Max Watters, he ended up going to Cardiff. McCarthy took one look at him and put him in the U23’s. [Post edited 17 Mar 2021 22:48]

It’s been the theme of the season, there is always something someone is trying to twist to bash the manager. On this thread it’s gone from not starting Morris over a span of matches where we won all but one (including beating Norwich 2-0), which was a draw away to Brentford with 10 men. Just senseless as his selection was clearly justified. Then it was not signing players for 30k, 40k and even 70k a week up front. Then it’s not rotating when in fact our starting players have played similar, and often less, than all of our rivals. Don’t know what the motive is but it’s getting very odd.

Some have a twisted, bizarre agenda for not actively supporting our efforts on and off the pitch. Others are simply unable to deal with the pressure (esp on matchdays where the matchday thread is toxic). These types clearly aren't that clever. Nothing to see here. The former types are the ones to watch, with their constant snidey digs. Only appear when we're struggling. Jump on the bandwagon of the most vociferous, bullying types. The one-line-wonders who prefer to attack other posters instead of engaging the brain. Fortunately there are enough decent posters to call this and them out.

I doubt he’s have started against Watford if we went into that one level on points with them, but I’m certain he’d have been rotated with Lowe and maybe occasionally Ayew. With the three of them fresh we’d have had a great chance. Appreciate that teams have stopped our wingbacks bombing on as much, which is a big part of our game, but bar the odd cameo from Cullen or Gyokores, playing without strikers has worked very well from the start of the season until quite recently. Even now, until Tuesday, the performances had gone off a cliff, but we were still winning games.

Absolutely, Morris started against Man City and was becoming a feature of our side. Without doubt he would have been a real part of our team now. Let’s not forget he was brought on at half time in the game he got injured, to say he wasn’t being used isn’t fair or accurate. Same with Liam Cullen who looked like a proper finisher who then got taken out of our plans. We have been really unlucky with players this year. Cullen and Morris getting season ending injuries and Gibbs White out for months only to be recalled the game after coming back. Morris obviously got injured after the transfer window closed and the rest is history. We are now forced to use what’s left and it’s not great. Automatic promotion seems like a long shot at this point with the squad the way it is. But if we can amass enough points to remain in the playoffs and have a go at them for the second year running then that has to be a successful year. Look around us, we don’t compare with teams like Bournemouth. Man for man they are much better than us. We are and have been playing well above our level, I just hope we can continue to do so for a little while longer. If we get promotion we should then have the funds to invest in the team again, but until then we are just fighting for scraps and making do.

It’s not for me to put forward to the club who they should sign. I’m just pointing out the fact there were strikers out there available for the money we signed Whittaker for, which would have strengthened our starting 11 or atleast squad immediately. QPR are paying the full amount of those wages are they? How much is Hourihane on? There is no hindsight at all into what I’m saying, look at my posts at the time when Cooper, in January was saying we are short of a 9 and then we spend nearly a million on a player we have no interest in using this year, look at my posts on the day when we signed Ariolla, I said there was no chance at all he was going to play a part here, Cooper made that pretty clear with his words.

Then why is it for you to suggest what subs he makes? Or what team he picks? For my money if you point out areas where you believe an error has been made, then its for you to make a suggestion on the better way to go. In this instance it is showing us who we could have had. Yet there is no suggestion that anyone you named was a feasible option, in fact quite the opposite with Morris already on board. Who knows how much QPR are paying of his 75k salary, but we couldn't even afford 50%, or even close to in my opinion - not to mention the loan fee itself, which may well have been more than the Whittaker fee alone. Hourihane was a replacement for Gibbs White, he has nothing to do with the striker situation. We signed Jordan Morris as our striking option, he got injured. Saying we spent 200k (if recent figures are to be believed) on Whittaker, who would be on tiny wages, is irrelevant if there is nobody better in the 9 role we could bring in. Unless you have one to suggest then I am not sure how you can make a judgement. [Post edited 18 Mar 2021 8:22]

For my money if you point out areas where you believe an error has been made, then its for you to make a suggestion on the better way to go. In this instance it is showing us who we could have had. >> No problem, I will point out. It was clear as day when Morris was here he should have started more games, you point out the appearances, but minutes are what count and we now reap what we sow as Ayew and Lowe have had way to many of them and are both on empty. Whittaker now should play more, nearly a million pound we paid for him, the "one for the future" doesn't wash. You say about while he was here how if he played we wouldn't have done any better. We wouldn't have done any worse either and with a fresher squad/players to boot for the run in. <<Yet there is no suggestion that anyone you named was a feasible option, in fact quite the opposite with Morris already on board. Who knows how much QPR are paying of his 75k salary, but we couldn't even afford 50%, or even close to in my opinion - not to mention the loan fee itself, which may well have been more than the Whittaker fee alone.>> Morris wasn't a "9" which Cooper keeps saying he wanted, his words, not mine. If he/we wanted one then we go and get one. You don't know how much QPR are paying of his salary, that is correct. There was players out there available for the here and now for less than the money we have paid for Whittaker. I pointed those out to you. << Hourihane was a replacement for Gibbs White, he has nothing to do with the striker situation. We signed Jordan Morris as our striking option, he got injured. >> Gibbs White played 4 x games. We had Palmer who was never played and got sent back. Cooper's had options he has just chosen not to use them, again, one of the reasons we are stale. The "weak squad" comments again don't wash. Morris wasn't our striking option, Cooper stated before and after signing Morris he wanted a 9. Again, we signed Whittaker "for the future" His excuses don't wash yet again. << Saying we spent 200k (if recent figures are to be believed) on Whittaker, who would be on tiny wages, is irrelevant if there is nobody better in the 9 role we could bring in. Unless you have one to suggest then I am not sure how you can make a judgement. >> We had a discussion on this forum previously where you continually used Transfermrkt as your source for fees. That says completely different to the £200k you just plucked from thin air. I have suggested the players we could have brought in which are for the here and now which is what we need, you know, as we are in with an unbelievable chance of promotion to the richest league in the world, these opportunities don't come often. But he shouldn't have started more, should he. We won all but one when he was here, the game we didn't win was Brentford away with 10 men. Coopers selection therefore completely justified. How do you know we wouldn't have done any worse? We lost every game he played a half or more. What you mean is you would have liked to have seen him more, which is fine. But to say he *should* have started more doesn't reflect in the facts. If you are suggesting Morris wasn't the kind of player Cooper wanted, then how are you laying that at his door? Shouldn't you be complaining about the owners for not providing Cooper with what he said he wants? Having options, and having good options arent the same thing. I wouldn't want Palmer starting for us in any game, he's a poor player. He shouldn't just use players simply because he has them. I have not used Transfermarkt as my source for fees, and haven't in this instance either. You must be confusing me with someone else. The 200k rising to 700k fee came from this forum, and its one that is entirely believable. It is your opinion that we need to bring in players for the here and now, not one the club agrees with considering that there doesn't look like there was anyone suitable within our budget available. That 200k fee also reported by the following journalist. You will have to click the comments to see. Keith also confirmed this on the transfer deadline day thread:- ''200k up front for Whittaker, I cant see him ever being 700k, and if he is it will take 18 months in payments.'' It was 100% yourself when your username was E20. It was regarding the Siggy fee and Mesa. You used Transfermarkt then, and now you use Paul Daniels off Twitter who has three followers. It was Brentford at home with 10 men. Are you using the Man City game as a stick to beat him with? He even looked sharp in that game in terms of his running with and without the ball, against the best side in the UK. What other games did he play over a half of football in? We are now seeing the effects of Cooper's lack of substitutions and lack of game management with our tired performances now. Andre Ayew even said there was tired legs everywhere. Who brought Palmer in then? Cooper? Who brought Vik in? Cooper? or is the blame game for his lack of game management falling at Scott & Winter's door?
