| The Right to Demonstrate 08:18 - Mar 22 with 1790 views | onehunglow | So there you go. Bristol. And not too far from Wales either Kill the Bill. They almost did and if they had,it would have been the Bill's own fault.Wouldn't it. Not much social distancing nor mask wearing either, another subject dear to the heart of Liberty fans. We see a government ministers concerned about people having the right to demontate and a Home Sec upset with Police handling of an illegal gathering. Two weeks later you get this Priti. Johnson and Patel should reign immediately.Ideally and we bring in people with some guts to save our country from anarchy. Finally, there will be protesters and Labour MP looking at footage to see if Police are to blame and if so,make official complaint. It's happened before and it will happen again. Those Police van are dangerous too and too easily inflammable.ome of the peaceful demonstrators could have been burnt. They should have been, | |

| The Right to Demonstrate on 20:41 - Mar 22 by Boundy | We're certainly living in difficult times , I can't say I'm a lover of the police but I do respect the role they have to play in all our lives, stuck in the middle with the guidance of how they police it seems based on what's politically expedient rather than what's for the betterment of the citizens they're meant to protect . |
Im not a "lover" of the Police. The Police should never be so. I have felt for years we should have had a military style riot police like Gendamerie ,Jardama,Carabinieri, who basically get in and wipe them off the streets .People do not engage with them neither do they see kids across the street and man crossing patrols let alone offer "advice". We have raised a generation that knows all its rights but nine of its responsibilities.

Although never having any dealings with the Spanish Police for example I'm wise enough to recognise you don't mess with them and rightly so , our Police due to more directives hare seen one minute as one of the boys , aka rainbow police vehicles , taking the knee or a myriad or other social conscious stunts which confuse the populace in thinking they're just one of the lads , they're not , and shouldn't be .Policing by consent has been eroded because of the very things which the hierarchy have introduced over the years meaning that respect for the law has all but disappeared.

Many people are concerned about their loss of rights under Covid rules and laws. Just like most protests and demonstrations they are hijacked by activists bent on causing mayhem, which seem to be designed to bring the protests in to disrepute.

Im afraid rather than awaiting cctv,I would rather Police use water cannon, tear gas and have the dogs bit a few or simply getting stuck into them rather than passively standing by.They will have been under orders ,trust me,orders made with political overtones in mind and a mindet not to unduly upset the public. Police action always leads to complaint,no matter what. That way, less damage, less public cost and less embarrassment seeing a police force having the pyss taken out of it. The Police represent us all and setting fire to police vans and smashing property and dumping statues into the dock defiles us all.Or it should do.

The activists aren't trying to bring the protests into disrepute. That's just another carzy theory. The aren't even genuine activists, they are just mindless morons who enjoy trouble and take every opportunity to cause it. If they were football fans we'd call them hooligans.

Ray.Make no mistake as to how low humans can go. Once we removed Travellers from a huge common with a warrant from the council, accompanied by travellers community supporter and friends. One lady came out and simply pysed in front of us,whilst the other breast fed another. Police are utterly farked whichever way . Abandoned by the highest ranks, insulted by politicians ,I truly can understand why they are leaving in droves.

Are they 'leaving in droves'? Are they 'abandoned by the highest ranks'? Where is your evidence for that? 'Insulted by politicians'. In what way? Also bear in mind who took the flak for the Clapham Common operation. Calls were made for her resignation, but she did not pass the buck to junior officers in fairness. Yes the Police have to put up with a great deal of criticism and without a great deal of support from our so called leaders, but that is not a new phenomenon. It's still a relatively well paid, secure job, unlike for many others who perform important functions in our society.

But obviously not the consent of all. I mean, scuse me,can we search your house for that firearm you've just discharged. I ve been stopped by both Gendamerie and Guardia Civil. The Spanish was because I had stopped on a Autovia exit to assist somebody who looked distressed. They turn up with their pointed caps and it wasn't pleasant even thogh I showed them my ID (THEN Police Warrant Card). They looked at me like I was a member of the International Brigade in Franco territory. Gendamerie turned up when I had a motor cycle collision in Cherbourg en route to catch the Ferry to Poole.I got hit albeit at a low speed and we were ok,thankfully. However, they tried to blame it on me.Just as well I spoke decent French and this time my warrant card worked. They don't exactly engage or make any attempt to be pleasant and it would shock people here if they found out what happen if you disrespect them. No filming ,gobbing off or threatening these people. They will rip you to pieces.

The police will sit there for hours on end studying footage they will get you walking off later in the night through the city centre getting on trains,buses...etc now all with cameras there is no time limit on catching them we are the worst country for CCTV and your not talking 1980's football hooligan grainy black & white CCTV anymore, you cant fart in this country without somebody knowing. I had a "friend" who got nicked by Thames police weeks & weeks after the Reading game in the early 90's they came down to South Wales

I would have thought they would have had to be identified during the act not before, as no crime would have been commuted before. It's like shoplitfing, the offence only takes place when item has been removed from the store and not before. It's very difficult to prosecute unless there's direct evidence.
