One of the most difficult ever, and one of the best. So much learned about people I know, thought I knew and of course as a person too. Never too late to learn and make a difference.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
On my 3rd furlough period, oddly enough, I feel very chilled out about it but luckily, non of my family or friends have suffered, those who caught it, survived without having to go to hospital. Missed going down the pub but I've gotten used to that, drank a hell of a lot more in the house. Fear that we'll be paying for this for years to come.
Creasing boredom and a sense of losing good days when Ive less left that most. We like to travel and these are lost years we won't get back and the future doesn't look that bright either. Mankind really has not come to terms with covid and what it means to have self discipline and act for the common good. I have lost good friends though it and my social life has irrevocably changed, like many others So for me,an utterly underwhelmingly year with no good whatsoever to come from it.
Fortunate to have been securely employed all the way through with nobody close to me dying or even being seriously inconvenienced by Covid.
Obviously pissed off at the restrictions, a number of which are largely unnecessary, but optimistic of better days to come.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I know you won't reply but you are lucky and I hope you remain so. Looking around ,covid clearly here to stay. We have a vaccine but some REFUSE it althoigh not sure the alternative is much better whatever it is. When we are free of restrictions, people will be swanning around possibly with a virus which they could spread and all because they refuse to vaccinate. Cost of this freedom? Too much for me anyway. I 'd rather people live and some be upset that their unfettered freedom has been slightly curtailed. These are extraordinary times. Most are now accepting of that, but it's the others that we need to worry about.
In general not to bad, missed my family big time but have worked throughout so boredom has not been an issue. I have looked at the past and my expectations for the future. Totally reevaluated where I want to be and what I want to do. It has made me realise there is no guaranteed tomorrow so enjoy every day and don't waste it.

It hasn't made a massive difference to me personally. My wife has been working from home and my son home from school, we get shopping delivered now but little else changed.
I don't go out much anyway, beside walking the dog. That won't change untilI get my operation. Admittedly that's dragging on because of covid but c'est la vie.
We've lost a couple of people. We've put on weight. We've gone a bit greyer a bit more quickly and we've grown a year older though it feels much longer. We've saved a lot of money too and one day, when we're allowed, a holiday will definitely be happening with that money. I fancy Italy now.

Italy is lovely but racked with covid
The Lakes are gorgeous but it was where covid first took hold.

I hope you get there anyway.
I d settle for for a Benidorm slag weekend myself
We won't go anywhere til a fair while after it'sbeen declared safe, we'll wait to see how it goes. We'll all be vaccinated too and the follow ups which I'm sure will be needed.
Lake Como would be nice but I have an urge to go to Naples. I want to see if Swansea bay really does look like Naples, to see Pompeii and Herculaneum and go swimming in the Med again.
It hasn't affected me too much as i'm retired, but Mrs CJ has worked on the covid ward regularly, and she hasn't complained once about not getting recognition or a pay rise - my respect for her her gone up even more.
I miss regular contact with the family ,my latest grandchild was born last May in the middle of the first wave.I miss going to the gym and training. Not missed the pub or the Liberty stadium , especially with the football we are playing, but missed meeting the lads
The uncertainty has been the worst, with the Mrs working in the hosp - are we going to catch the virus or not, and if so how sick will we become, but both had the jab now so hopefully that won't happen
I have known many who have died from this and many who have become really ill. My major concern is, if we open up too soon and end up back at square one.

My advice. Como is lovely but very expensive .Garda has better weather certainly less rain and has Verona nearby which is beautiful. Alternatively ,rather than Maggiore, look at the smaller lakes ,like Orta ,less chocker with tourists .Inghams have a good range of package deals to the smaller lakes. A cracker near Garda -Lake Iseo-,quieter and les evening stuff but swimming is glorious and walking unbelievable.
Naples is a craphole and one to avoid. Pompeii isnt enough of a distraction from the overpowering awfulness and bedlam of this city.
I've not been affected by missing salary or work at all. In fact I've set up an office in the garden, saved a fair amount of cash and helped other family members out. Work has never been better.
There have been some other positives too. I've spent lot's of time with my daughter, barely missed a school run and managed to walk the dogs during the day.
I've really missed the match day buzz in and around the liberty, the gym and just being able to casually catch up with my mates. I missed my parents and they especially missed my Daughter during the first lockdown.
I've had it easy, especially compared to those who have lost people and those on furlough from a low wage job.
I'd sacrifice 90% of the positives to go back to normal as safely and quickly as possible.

I was very lucky pre pandemic that I got to spend a lot of time with my son, schools runs too. Getting medically retired had it's positives. Now the pandemic and all 3 of us have spent a lot of time together. I think I may actually miss it!
The only real downside for me is, there's been a lot more washing up
Has it really been a year, sometimes it seems longer mind, but in general it has flown. Again like others on the thread we've been very lucky healthwise. Mrs TJ has either been in childcare or working from home. I've never been busier and working in an environment of upto 80 individuals it has been a challenge. The measures out in the workplace to combat covid have been tough and at times very challenging. Missed 3 holidays which is a small price to pay for good health so definitely not complaining. Missed seeing my mother who has been shielding but again it was a price worth paying for her health.

It's been a really dreadful year, ongoing serious family illness, not helped by this terrible virus and the restrictions, and if I'm being honest, it's really starting to get me down.

Chin up Flash mate, don't let it get you down. I know that's easy to say and I get down about stuff sometimes too BUT, we'll beat this virus one day soon.
Find a way to relieve the stresses and strains. Hopefully nicer weather is going to be here more often now and I found gardening actually did help. A bit of work, some birdsong and a cold beer as a reward
Positives Grants 3 of the beauty's. UFC events kept getting made, Dana White is an absolute genius. No one i know suffered to badly from Covid. No traffic when going to and coming from work. More easy to avoid people House and Garden is now immaculate. Dogs mental health improved drastically. More time on here to wind up a few know it all`s who had no idea what was going on. Able to fit in exercise sessions quite easily.
Negatives Not being able to see some loved family members Getting Covid, not the most pleasant couple of weeks Not being able to travel abroad, such a big miss. No concerts Theater or Cinema.

Then come on here and give us some stick lol
I genuinely think there are better times around the corner.
The impact lockdown has had on people outside of covid can't be ignored, it's really tough on some people.
All the best flashberry.
