I totally agree. While we're at it we should ban the hole in the Ozone layer, ban the melting of the ice caps and glaciers, ban animlas fro going extinct and finally, ban human stupidity.
you should educate yourself & download the 1st episode of "Earth: the Power of the Planet", it was on BBC2 on Monday... and I think you'll change your mind. It certainly educated me when I watched it, I'm enjoying the 5 part series, part 3 on today at 2pm.
Volcanoes are good, its the stupid humans that are killing the planet.
I don't claim to be an expert but when a significant volcano erupted about 5 or 6 years ago the experts were reported in the media as claiming that the Co2 released was equivalent to 10,000 times that created by human activity ever.
I've no idea of this is true or not but if it is is as reported given the number of volcanic eruptions on a regular basis why are we even remotely concerned about man made levels of Co2?

It s a fair point. Volcanoes are been around some time and nowt we can do about it.
Anywau,it is really down to what China and India do that matters.

Volcanoes are natural yet they pump out vasts amounts of CO2 so CO2 is natural
Co2 and methane emissions cause the greenhouse effect and have done since the planet formed. Without these natural emissions and the associated greenhouse effect the earth would be about 30 degrees Celsius cooler, inhospitable and humans would never have evolved.
There have been many times of climate change throughout geological history, often caused by fluctuations in volcanic activity amongst other things.
Unfortunately human activity increases the emissions of these (and other) gases and tips the natural process to that of unsustainable warming.
If the report that I have referred to is correct then human activity CO2 wise is insignificant when the many volcanic eruptions that occur each year are taken into consideration.

Co2 generated by humans dwarves that from volcanoes.

Job done, planet saved
Abnormal weather patterns in the upper atmosphere over Antarctica dramatically limited ozone depletion in September and October, resulting in the smallest ozone hole observed since 1982, NASA and NOAA scientists have reported.

thats the one... if it hadn't been for the Volcanoes, we'd still be in the ice age. Very interesting to see how they are formed and everything.
Jealous of the Dr bloke who made the series, he gets to go to some amazing places around the world
I know,
I was watching a programme this week with that German comedian, Henning Wehn, who I like, Mel Sykes, who I like, and Boris Johnson’s father ( hmm - he’s ok, but honestly, why is he suddenly in everything), and they were walking through the Copper Canyon in Mexico. Talk about an amazing job. It was stunning.
Without volcanoes where would mankind be? Joe would never have gone to the volcano, many disaster films may not have been made. Flights may not have been grounded. Pompeii and Herculaneum would have survived.
Look at all the fun we'd have missed! Volcanoes are important, they have rights too so I'm starting a volcano support group

"... if it hadn't been for the Volcanoes, we'd still be in the ice age. " And you actually believe this? I suggest that you do a bit of reading instead of watching BBC propoganda films. The "consensus" is that the Melting of the Ice caps caused the Volcanic activity by reducing the pressure on the earth's surface, not the other way around. The "concensus" is also that the CO2 from the volcanic activity helped to speed up the process.
However if you look at the historic levels of CO2 you will not see any major uptick in levels when the Ice age ended, it merely raised it to pre-industrial levels. Way lower than the previous 400Million years. Here is an example.

You've posted a link which shows a "major uptick" in Co2 levels that coincides exactly with the end of the last ice age?
Not only that it also shows a consistent level of atmospheric Co2 until the industrial revolution. Why do you think that is?
You've spent too much time reading that accountant chap's blog who doesn't understand the graphs he posts either.
I'm not going to hijack this thread and turn it in to another x number of pages of nonsense, but this undermines everything you've ever said on this topic.
