"However if you look at the historic levels of CO2 you will not see any major uptick in levels when the Ice age ended, it merely raised it to pre-industrial levels"

You've posted a link which shows a "major uptick" in Co2 levels that coincides exactly with the end of the last ice age?

Not only that it also shows a consistent level of atmospheric Co2 until the industrial revolution. Why do you think that is?

You've spent too much time reading that accountant chap's blog who doesn't understand the graphs he posts either.

I'm not going to hijack this thread and turn it in to another x number of pages of nonsense, but this undermines everything you've ever said on this topic.

It was not a "Major" Uptick, try looking back a bit further on the chart to 50 million years ago where it was 1000ppm and look at the uptick of 500ppm.
Look even further back to 400 million years when it was 2000ppm. with an uptick of 1000ppm.
You talk a load of crap as usual, an uptick of 100ppm is nothing compared to history.
But then you are one of the "Climate Drama Queens" who doesn't know how to read a chart properly, what else can you expect?

Why do you think that increase in Co2 concentration after the ice age isn't considered significant. Especially considering the other trends?

It's not about reading, it's about understanding.

Which is a very good point.Any ocean, any sea, river, canal evidences this. We are both lazy and reckless as a society and we are killing the planet we inhabit.

There are alternatives to plastic.

Look around the hedgerows and what do we see.

It's criminal damage.Literally.

Just think how ahead of the curve we were in 1975 when Unigate were delivering in electric vehicles and we were all recycling glass bottles daily...

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Some decent money was made by returning the empties. Why not a return although our kids would probably not be fit enough to search around for bottles.

I would favour ALL soft sugary drinks be sold in glass only and the deposit substantial enough to encourage its return.

We are simply so lazy .

I had a Saturday jon with our Milkman, besides the point but...Kilky will be along to remind you you're living in the past and get up to date with the modern world. It'd be beyond his ken to see the solution to a modern problem lays nearly 50 years in the past.

I've said it before, the growth of supermarkets has been very bad for us. We walk less, we buy more rubbish food, we cause endless plastic waste.

We were better off with milkmen, local grocers and fruiterers, better off when our world was smaller and mostly local.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

We were indeed.

Unfortunately the power of supermarkets has also made things artificially cheap due to their purchasing scale and monopoly of the market. Until the local shop or farmers market can sell things at a competitive price the supermarkets are doomed to succeed.

We've never stopped having milk delivered here in Derwen Fawr.

Farm shops offer much nicer produce than supermarkets as do the stalls in Swansea Market. Good farm shops in Murton and between Dunvant and Gowerton.

I understand that milk deliveries and use of local stores has increased in the last year so something good may come out of the pandemic.

Easy, historically, according to the scientists, warming preceded CO2 increases by at least 800 years. Caused by Ocean outgassing.
As can be seen by careful analysis of ice core data.
I suggest you have a read of the new book by Greenpeace co-founder Dr Patrick Moore.
It is called "Fake Invisible Catastrophes and Threats of Doom" you might learn something.
You could even read Michael Shellenberger's Apocalypse Never.

Derwen Fawr...if you were there 15 years ago I was probably your postman. Worrying thought eh

Maybe the pandemic will have some good long term effects, I won't hold my breath though. When it comes to it cash is king, wherever is cheapest will continue to thrive, no matter how bad it is for us.

Personally we'll continue as we have been doing, we get a delivery of fresh fruit, veg and meat and he's actually cheaper than the supermarket, the food is better too. We do still buy other stuff from Asda, simply because it's cheaper

The release of Co2 from the oceans played a part initially I completely agree, as did other factors. But 800 years (and it could be as little as 500 or as much as 1000 year) lag is a virtual blink of an eye in geological time. Co2 is both a cause and effect of warming, more than 90% of warming occurs after the increase in atmospheric Co2.

Patrick Moore did not found Greenpeace, it was founded by Cotes, Stowe and Bohlen. He has claimed that he would happily drink neat Glyphosate though so he is obviously a sensible chap.

Of course there was a rumour that he was a co-founder of Greenpeace. It came from a Trump tweet. Proper science there.

There is some sense in Schellenbergers work, of course he is a proponent of anthropocentric climate change. As I've said before, I'm not going on any protests with Greta, but it's obvious it is actually an issue.
