| Doreen Lawrence on race report on 07:22 - Apr 5 by felixstowe_jack | Strange people from Europe and Ireland 🇮🇪 colonised the ,USA after independence. The 13 original states invaded and stole the lands of the native Americans. The Americans then imported huge numbers of slaves not abolishing slavery until the1860s. Even then there was segregation in the USA until the 1960s. Racisms is still endemic the large parts of the USA. Nothing to be proud of there. While the report which has been well reached and is evidence backed gives the UK as a beacon to world on multi culturalism. It must really upset you that the authors of report consisting of ten people of colour include 9 persons of colour . You seem blind to the fact that a lot of the countries in the EU had empires, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria and Hungary. France and Spain still have colonies in other continents. |
America did not exist until 1776. Wiki says .... First enslaved Africans arrive in Jamestown, setting the stage for slavery in North America. On August 20, 1619, “20 and odd” Angolans, kidnapped by the Portuguese, arrive in the British colony of Virginia and are then bought by English colonists. The report is as about as valid as Keith Cooper confirming the Steve Cooper is a great manager. Its no recommendation at all.

| Doreen Lawrence on race report on 10:49 - Apr 5 by Brynmill_Jack | You are a very silly and ignorant person . The British didn’t invade Wales. The Normans did and they were French with Scandinavian origins. And for the record the origin of the term British comes from the Brythonic so called (as there’s dispute over this) Celts. Or the Welsh as their known today. We never invaded ourselves - that’s an absurdity. Read stuff so you don’t embarrass yourself in future. |
Sit down you plank. Turn off the BBC. Stop buying the Sun. Gwynfor told us that Britishness is just a concept to extend English control over the Celtic nations. Scratch just a little under the surface of the mask and there is but one nation - England. Perhaps its you needs to read a bit more...? Twp mun.

Not sure what you are trying to say regarding the 1776 remark. Yes, Britain joined in the slave trade, which was started by the Portuguese in regards to the African slave trade. But as other people are trying to tell you (deaf ears of course) that Britain was not alone. In the 17th/18th Century it was just seen as trade, as bad as it is seen today, it wasn't back then. All the European Countries were using and/or transporting slaves. Britain were the first to outlaw it, not only making it illegal for Britain, but policed the seas. On another note, slavery had been about since the start of time and still exists today.

Modern slavery is a multibillion-dollar industry with just the forced labor aspect generating US $150 billion each year.[93] The Global Slavery Index (2018) estimated that roughly 40.3 million individuals are currently caught in modern slavery, with 71% of those being female, and 1 in 4 being children.[94][95] As of 2018, the countries with the most slaves were: India (8 million), China (3.86 million), Pakistan (3.19 million), North Korea (2.64 million), Nigeria (1.39 million), Indonesia (1.22 million), Democratic Republic of the Congo (1 million), Russia (794,000) and the Philippines (784,000).[96]

Thats a fairly classic Anglocentric view of the slave trade. I am pretty sure back then in Africa is was indeed seen ‘as bad as it is today’, from Day 1. Maybe that does not matter to the people who write tbe story from a single perspective ? Nobody is saying that Britain acted alone, are they..? However Wiki says : Britain was the most dominant between 1640 and 1807 when the British slave trade was abolished. It is estimated that Britain transported 3.1 million Africans (of whom 2.7 million arrived) to the British colonies in the Caribbean, North and South America and to other countries. Only Portugal transported more slaves than Britain. France was less than half of Britain. The US about one tenth of the British total. I am sure you knew all this. (We dont want deaf ears do we ?).

I think you will find the continents of North and South America existed for millions of years. Christopher Columbus and Italian working for the King of Spain rediscovered America in 1492. You really should do a bit of basic research. It is estimated that the native American population at the time the United States of America become a country was 10,000,000. The wealth of the USA was created by invading and stealing the lands of the native Americans as well as genocide killing of the native Americans. The USA continued to bring Africans to the USA as slaves. The UK banned slavery many years before the USA. BLACK Americans had very few rights even after slavery was abolished on 1860. There was segregation in the USA until the 1960s and racism still continues in many parts of the USA. Over 3 million people are incarcerated in the USA penal system the highest proportion of and democracy. Thankfully the UK has shown tolerance and far greater integration than most counties. Don't forget that nearly all African slaves were captured by fellow Africans and Arabs and sold for transportation to the USA, caribbean countries and South America. This fact is always ignored by those wishing to blame Europeans for slavery. In fact slavery was flourishing thousands of years before the UK existed Egyptian, Roman , Persian empired all prospered from slavery Gaelic raiders captured slaves from across the Irish Sea after the fall of the roman empire . Even st Patrick was a slave captured by the Irish. It seems even our Irish friends have slave blood on their hands. Funny how the left only seem to blame the British.

African's were slaves of fellow African's before the European's were involved. Not at the same level though. Europeans industrialized it that's a fact, the Spanish first required the slaves for mines and plantations. After the Pope split the World between Spain and Portugal, Spain had most of the America's and Portugal had Africa. Portugal built the slave ports and supplied slaves to the Spanish colonies as well as Brazil. Portugal had a monopoly on supplying the Spanish empire until Britain took it over after a treaty in 1713. The Dutch introduced sugar plantations and the first mass use of African slaves. No-one was innocent, Britain was up there amongst the worse offenders no doubt. Regarding the people enslaved seeing it as bad, that's true, I'm sure Moses and his tribes felt it was a bad idea too. No mention of the millions who are slaves today then.

| Doreen Lawrence on race report on 09:24 - Apr 6 with 714 views | felixstowe_jack | I see the left wing teaching unions are having their annual Easter conference and have voted to abolish teaching British history. You cannot make it up . I guess that means all history will have to be abolished as I doubt there is a single country in the world that has not been touched by slavery. I wonder if the teaching unions will ban their members from using Chinese products where slavery and abuse of human rights is rife. | |

Gwynfor who? The Welsh nat bloke sometimes seen at YES marches? What is your beloved EU but a concept to extend control over 500 million people? What is any government but a concept used to control? The British didn't invade Britain. What a childish, thoughtless notion. The Celts are the British. You chide others for living in the 70's but you live 600 years back and you don't even begin to understand the history. If independence means being run by people who think like you then indy has no chance. In a modern democracy the majority still rule. You'd take us back to the ancient past, no thanks.

Confirms my post . Teachers should get on with teaching. They are not there to indoctrinate their pupils with left wing rubbish. It is already bad in many universities where open debate is now longer allowed. How about lessons on how slavery was rife on the continent of Africa with fellow Africans capturing slaves and selling them.

How does it confirm your post? You said they voted to get rid of British history. They didn’t. Which bit of the curriculum do you want to get rid of to teach African history? Bear in mind that around 90% of the history taught in our schools is British history and I’m assuming you don’t want to get rid of any of that?

Interesting. What she said should happen is pretty much what the vote was actually for. The vote was to promote achievements by black people through history, rather than focussing on the slavery aspect and in promoting seeing the race purely as victims.

What I find so utterly sickening about critical race theory is the sheer gratuitous spite of it all. It’s evil and does the total opposite of bringing people together. How spiteful and warped can someone be to actually state that it’s racist for a white individual to show charity, good deed(s) and kindness towards a person of colour. Apparently that’s because a person of colour is being exploited to get an uplifting emotional reaction and warm glow that tends to come with being nice at times. Well that’s Robin Di Angelo's thought process and ideology for you! How the f**k can you possibly win with these witchfinder generals? The sh1te that comes from ‘new-age’ cloud-cuckoo-land 'academics' using pseudo-psychology quackery, and appalling mind reading skills deserves a right kicking. [Post edited 6 Apr 2021 21:38]

Race is just the latest thing for many people to make themselves feel good about themselves. What annoys me is the total lack of anything done to end this hate and how all governments talk a good game but do nothing. Include football.
