Number ten report is a green light for racists.
258 pages later there is still discontent, I’m not happy either to a large degree.
What about you ?

Unfortunately, not having a voice for the white working class led to the rise of UKIP et al, which in turn led to blame being put on immigrants instead of looking at the systemic reasons why that group is underachieving.

I’ve said before, my feelings on the report are mixed but I did like that it was brave enough to say that difficulties felt by some minorities are not rooted in racism but in cultural issues (black Caribbean children’s poor educational performance being an example)

Who’d be brave enough to say this about white working class who are continually near the bottom of the academic list? It’s a tricky as it’s at least partially down to multigenerational unemployment and lack of aspiration. Some have been to busy blaming foreigners to change tack.

” Unfortunately, not having a voice for the white working class led to the rise of UKIP.”

Doesn’t that speak to you of Labour’s utterly abject failure, Gwyn? Of the way it abandoned the very people it was formed to represent and instead went dashing about tilting at increasingly exotic windmills; caring desperately for Palestine and not a jot for Porth or Padstow?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

And therein lies the issue. Authoritarian populism may seem like an alternative but in reality it's just a sh*t sandwich that only succeeds in driving a wedge between people

All this running around pandering to minorities is all well and good, I dare say it’s an extremely lucrative racket for the professional commentariat and the members of all these publicly-funded commissions, but is anybody at Westminster or the MSM giving even a backward glance at devastated white, working class communities - globalism’s collateral damage?

Who speaks for them?

I’ve been reading JNF board for a while now. There has always been debate on here but things have slipped quite alarmingly to the right which is quite unbelievable for a community in desolate South Wales. Yes South Wales , a once tight knit set of communities who once cared about people’s welfare has turned into New Essex.

The truth of the matter is whilst the “woke”/“unwoken” (one made up the other a label right wingers smear with and apologist idiots use as a virtuously self righteous badge of honour) - this smokescreen is pitting all low to middle income people against each other in a clever bid to distract them from what’s really happening - people in general are getting poorer and the powerful (both corporate and political) wealthier beyond imagination.

Divide and conquer - it really does work!

The gap now , after the almost utopia (I hate that term as I loathe communism) of the egalitarian society of the 50’s , 60’s and 70’s is much bigger than its ever been and still getting exponentially wider. The virus is the next payment we’re all going to be hammered with and God knows how they’re going to structure that repayment. But repaid it will be at a nice interest rate which will widen the gap even further. Don’t forget the UK only repaid the American finance debt from the Second World War in the 90’s and this debt is likely to be far bigger.

The trouble with the polarisation of people through the (cynical and opportunistic) “woke” movement, the emergence of toxic nationalism which is now bordering on fascism and the deliberate and cynical political finger pointing at people whose jobs don’t pay enough for them to survive is that we ALL lose. Everybody in the earnings bracket between 20k and 50 k in this country has been deceived into thinking that those unfortunate enough to have to rely on benefits to support them because their earnings are so pitiful are the cause of this country’s (and the wider western world’s) problems.

They aren’t . It’s the so called democratic leaders who are working in symphony with the financial powerhouses and corporations - allowing them to pay next to nothing in taxation via a mixture of bribes and implied threats whilst hoovering up vast profits. The unfortunate thing is that by the time we all wise up and get “woke” about this it will be too late. It probably is already.

One thing that we must all remember is that most politicians , especially those in power do and say what is most beneficial to themselves at any time . They have deteriorated in ability ,quality and honesty over the years and are now probably more cynical than they ever have been. It’s across the board - Blair to Boris - they don’t care about us and stopped caring a long time ago.

Glad to hear the people who produced the report, which is made up people of all races with only one white person confirms the UK has made huge progress on race relations. It is as they said a beacon to the rest of the world showing multiculturalism works.

This has of cause upset the hard left who think only they can solve racism.

Bad news for Labour and Starmer who portray themselves as the party for ethnic minorities. Mind you Labour also use to claim there were the party of the working class.

I've been saying this for ages. The problem isn't just the tories, it's all politicians AND the other rich and powerful people. Labour are just as much to blame as anyone.

Think of it this way BJ, people blame the tories for ths state of things but Wales has been run by Labour for over 20 years now, people still want to blame the tories.

If things are going to change we need to stop voting for the same 2 tired groups and do something different.

Racism exists at the top and the bottom but for opposite reasons, most of us in the middle aren't racist, we just want to live and let live. The very poorest learn to hate immigrants because they steal jobs and homes and the steal benefits too, thats the narrative the racists push. The rich and powerful treat all of us with contempt, they go to posh schools and the best universities and look down on people without money, the right school tie and even among the rich and powerful there is a hierarchy where the family name carries sway.

Right now the most divisve thing in this country is money, then it's the special interest groups who all seek to further their own cause and all it does is seperate us out into disparate groups of opposition who all end up arguing with everyone else. Like BLM did, and Antifa. The political groups are no different, they all perpetuate arguments.

When you say divide and conquer works you are dead right maybe you just fail to fully appreciate how many different groups are using it as a ploy.

Right. now where's my tinfoil hat?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Why are you not pro independence for the 27 countries in the EU. Seems a contradiction you wanting 27 countries to remain under THE control of the undemocratic EU, while not wanting the four parts of the UK to remain in a fully democratic 🇬🇧

So you want all 4 home nations to go indy but then you'd sign away our independence and join the EU, that's a proper contradiction right there.

Why is the concept of Britishness backward looking? How is it more backward looking than wanting something for Wales that was taken away 600 years ago? That is really backward looking.
The thing about being forward looking is, you need to make the right decisions or if you don't you'll have a country looking forward to worse than they have right now.

Brexit isn't a con but the idea of being independent inside the EU definitely is a con. For all that you say about Boris without his action on vaccines we'd be like the EU today, a thrid wave raging, lockdowns happening again and deaths rising. What effect will all this have on the EU economy?

Its normal in Europe for Sovereign nations to join the EU.

If you cant see the difference between the modern EU and the archaic UK then i cant help you.

Nations queue up to join the EU.

Strange people from Europe and Ireland 🇮🇪 colonised the ,USA after independence. The 13 original states invaded and stole the lands of the native Americans.

The Americans then imported huge numbers of slaves not abolishing slavery until the1860s. Even then there was segregation in the USA until the 1960s.

Racisms is still endemic the large parts of the USA.
Nothing to be proud of there.

While the report which has been well reached and is evidence backed gives the UK as a beacon to world on multi culturalism.

It must really upset you that the authors of report consisting of ten people of colour include 9 persons of colour .

You seem blind to the fact that a lot of the countries in the EU had empires, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria and Hungary. France and Spain still have colonies in other continents.

Well 27 of the 51 European countries are in the EU. Most of those only joined because they get large handouts from eu taxpayers .

Mind you only 19 countries use the Euro the others preferring to keep their own currency. This has resulted in all new countries who apply in he future being forced to join the euro

You are a very silly and ignorant person . The British didn’t invade Wales. The Normans did and they were French with Scandinavian origins.
And for the record the origin of the term British comes from the Brythonic so called (as there’s dispute over this) Celts. Or the Welsh as their known today. We never invaded ourselves - that’s an absurdity. Read stuff so you don’t embarrass yourself in future.
