The Queen 11:12 - Apr 18 with 2841 viewstrampie

Reading about the plans for the Queen's death it makes one realise that it will be a huge seismic event, the likes of which most living people in this country (possibly any country) would never have seen.
Talk of workers getting sent home and having a holiday for the funeral.

So what you are saying is the Queen may not cease to exist until after the age of 101 or she may go sooner, thanks for that.

My first post said she may not be around much longer but someone else suggested that as her mum lived to 101 ....so I just pointed out the reality, we don't know when she'll die. My personal opinion is she won't see 100, her grief was plain to see and with all this other nonsense I think she'll be too worn down.

Better?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I wasn't up in arms about the Greens trying to win votes nor would I have been if they had been overtly critical of the tories. However, if they want my vote they need to give me reasons to vote for them.

Stop the tories tells me nothing of what they would do and that is the problem.

Now "or are you just seeing a Labour rags headline?" now why would I just agree with a "Labour rag"?
I was dissing Plaid, that's what you missed. I was poking fun at Plaid hence the Dracula reference.
I engaged with Rhun ap Iorwerth and found Plaid not to be worth a vote.

I know you was dissing Plaid that is what you do, a Plaid Senedd member replied to you and you don't think they are worth your vote, yet you don't think anybody is worth your vote and I have not noticed you mentioning about corresponding with other parties, you just seem to major on dissing Plaid.

I remember the day well - Sunday 31st August, 1997. My daughter was Christened that same afternoon.

It seems like yesterday.

I was working up in London but came home every weekend. I had been out in Bentleys and heard something about an accident about two in the morning. Back in London on Monday and the flower outside St James was incredible.

The Queen and her mother were always said to be very close then she went and married her cousin who was not just foreign born but seen as certain type of foreigner hence the Queen Mother's nickname for him but the Queen and the Queen Mother was said to have continued a very close mother and daughter relationship, not sure about Philips relationship with hs mother in law mind as I've seen it said in the past he was terrified of her, Queen Mother brother was killed by the Germans mind.

I'm unsure what you are alluding to here.

They were distant cousins, not cousins, Queen Victoria was a Great Great Great Great Grandmother to both.

Philip was born Greek and was in line (not direct) to both the Greek and Danish thrones (which he gave up on marrying the Queen) and whilst it was true that both his brother-in-laws were SS officers, he himself was in the British Navy and served aboard active ships throughout the war.

You say we do not know when she will die, that is quite an eye opener.

Bill Gates knows when she’s going to die. She’s been vaccinated so he decides.

Incorrect.

They first met when QE was 8 and Philip 13 at a wedding.

The meeting you are on about was when Elizabeth and Margaret made a visit to a Naval Training College with their dad, the King. Philip was 18 and attended that college, he was asked to look after the girls while the King was doing a tour.

They didn't start courting there and then, which is what you are making it sound like.

Taken from a magazine story.

“Like most romances, it was one that grew very gradually,” said Warwick. “Sometimes people forget or don’t know that, way back then in the ’30s, the ’40s, the ’50s, 13-year-olds were essentially children. Princess Elizabeth at 13 was still in low white socks and a matching coat, the same as her sister, Margaret. Philip was 18. He’d got girlfriends of his own.”

In the years that followed, Elizabeth and Philip occasionally corresponded and even bumped into each other in royal quarters.

“They were relatives–third cousins through Queen Victoria,” pointed out Warwick. “And we have to remember that, during the war, Philip was actually away in the Royal Navy. When he was on leave, he would come and stay with the royal family at Windsor Castle–with his uncle, Lord Mountbatten, and his cousin, Princess Marina, who was Duchess of Kent. So he would see a lot of Princess Elizabeth when he was on leave. But otherwise, we’re told that they had a cousinly correspondence.”

Yet some of Philip’s family were angling for the prince to marry the heiress.

“There were members of the family who were kind of hoping, if not encouraging, a kind of love match between these two. It was in 1944, when the princess was still a teenager,” said Warwick–explaining that Lord Mountbatten pushed the subject so much with Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, that the monarch said of Elizabeth, “‘She’s much too young. If it’s going to happen, let it happen naturally.’ But it was through their correspondence, through their meetings, that they did fall in love. They both became devoted to one another, we know that.” The two eventually married in 1947.
