He’s gone for experience today for sure.

| Routledge starts on 17:44 - May 22 with 852 views | Thornburyswan | Personally I’d have gone with the extra midfielder, probably Smith for Cullen, to allow Hourihane to play slightly further forward & compensate for his lack of legs/work but can see Routs experience being useful vs the press from Barnsley. | | | |

He still has some pace left in him too. On the break with Lowe will ensure chances. With Dike dropped they are going hoofball for sure.

He has the ability to make the runs that break the line when they are pushing a higher line as they have to do. Also still has the ability to put his foot in the ball and look up. We often do better with him when we are one up and the other team can’t sit back. That’s effectively the situation. Us not conceding an early goal is crucial.
| Routledge starts on 17:49 - May 22 with 813 views | Catullus | Will he last 90 mins of the high intensity press? Maybe we'd have been better off with the same starting team as the first leg and using Routs later on again. We'll have to trust that Coops has read it right but.....Hourihane...I hope he proves worthy tonight. | |

Definitely not in the side for 90 mins unless we are at least two ahead.

The alternative is Cullen who looks physically weaker than the majority of those attending today's match. He offered nothing in the first leg.

Well given Coopers predilection for making late subs, maybe he'll swap him out for Whittaker with 4 mins left He's in anyway so lets hope his guile makes a few chances for Ayew and we are clear and easy after 30 minutes!

Fair comment but it show how weak we really are and pretty much it remarkable we are where we are tonight. Hope a miracle happens anyway. Hope we are both happy in a couple of hours

Wonderful effort by Routledge to earn a free kick that led to the goal.

Correct, exactly what Cooper has been talking about recently. Anyone we have in the ranks to play the role that we require, is either naturally another position or not suited to the lone role at all. Cullen was tried there last week and did as expected, not very well. The fact that today, in the most important game of the season so far, we had to rely on 36 year old winger not known for his finishing ability says it all. It truly is remarkable what we have achieved this season. Can’t speak highly enough of them all.

He never would have played the 90, he probably had 10 minutes or so left when he got injured. It makes sense, he’s one of our most creative and intelligent players, it’s not as if he’s static for the hour or so he plays. Let him run himself into the ground then take him off. There are decent options there too. Cullen if we need him, Roberts to either allow us to go 532 or to play more advanced.
