| Swansea City return to pre season training on 17:04 - Jul 3 by londonlisa2001 | I only highlighted as they are cocking up if they are using old photos. And they seem to be using photos that are Wales Online sourced which is odd ( the link on the photo says Wales Online rather than the usual series of numbers). I realise you can’t check due to time which is why I highlighted for you. I haven’t seen a single picture of Cooper being there. Which is very strange. He may be of course, but weird of the club not to show him. And then for Wales Online to print this picture. It’s almost trying to tell a story that may not be true. Not even pictures of him welcoming new player… |
I totally agree his non attendance today is odd, but could be easily explained. Most other clubs have got managers and coaches already interviewed, with new players, on the training ground etc. With all the news on Cooper recently I’m surprised the club hasn’t said anything today. It doesn’t help.

I’m not sure about that at all. Managers turn up for first day training. [Post edited 3 Jul 2021 19:11]

| Swansea City return to pre season training on 19:32 - Jul 3 with 997 views | ReslovenSwan1 | An issue that needs understanding is his current agreement and what talks he has had about a new contract. Clearly if he has been angling for a new deal and not getting the response he wants he should be able to examine other avenues. He is out of contract in 12 months but has golden handcuffs until then. He failed at Fulham and Palace because of talk of dull turgid football in my opinion not because of the £m buy out clause. Had he been Brendan they would have paid it. Cooper himself knows what he needs to do and that is improve Swansea's attacking threat. If he can get Swansea performing passing and scoring he has the ticket to multimillion pound Premeir league jobs for him and his coaching team. He needs to do what the rest of us fans want him to do. If i was him I would improve my own coaching set up before Winter instructs it and they get into a stand off like reportedly happened to Monk. | |

It could be another few days before he rocks up. I don’t recall pre-season posts in the past featuring the coach particularly heavily. It’s all about the players coming back in.

Not a great look given what’s gone on over the previous month or so though is it? Not bothering to turn up when he doesn’t have to just seems very Steve Cooper. If, of course, he genuinely wasn’t there. Not being in pictures doesn’t necessarily mean that. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Maybe you’re right but I can’t imagine a situation where a manager of a football club decides to have an extra few days off while your players, including new signing, come back in. As a matter of fact I’d be amazed if any club in the football league had footage of their first day back which doesn’t include the manager. Edit - thought I’d check for a few examples, first picture of Cardiff first session back, Mick McCarthy. Second edit - https://www.bcfc.com/news/arti George Boyd’s “diary” seems to indicate you and Jasper are correct though, doesn’t look as if management team rocked up on first day. Which is exactly why every manager should come in, and I think most, if not all, do?

Some managers don't even show up to midweek training before a game if they can help it (Sam Allardyce most famously, jetting off to Dubai at every opportunity). False alarm over something not particularly alarming.

He does have his fair share of haters. Given what’s gone on with Fulham and Palace, it’s strange the club didn’t make a point of putting him in photos today

Not hate. Hate is something you can smell and it's best tasted close up. Ive done so countless times. I hate what some post,I hate what player and managers do but if anyone at all deems this "hate|" then ,trust me, they know sweet fark on. I detest Cooper a a coach, manager ,tactician and indeed leader of out team but hate ,nah. Its just as well few have met me as I'll show them what hate is about.

It’s a modern term. It doesn’t quite translate as ‘people who hate’ like you’d expect it to. It’s softer. Kind of means people who highlight everything he does badly without acknowledging things he does well.

It’s odd that the club didn’t highlight the fact Cooper was there in their 40 odd gallery pictures today ? Something isn’t right.

Agreed. You’d think one of the local journalists like Mitch would be doing some digging.

Talk? It was a lot more than talk and it was there for all to see, or did you miss all the televised games? Was he there, was he not, I don't care. If he is still going to be our manager I just want things to improve, I want better performances not dour, turgid wins akin to putting a fiver on the lottery and winning £3.40.

Because it's modern doesn't make it right. It is "wrong". Simple as that. It's like R/B pertaining to the abject drivel of modern day chanteurs. R and B are the likes of The Yardbirds Animals (British) Gene Washington,Fats Domino, Bo Diddley to name but a few.
