Thoroughly well deserved and well done to everyone who helped the nation thru the COVID battles.

Lets hope they get worthy pay rises in the near future too.

The annual NHS budget was £137.4 billion in 2016/17.

It was £212 billion last year.

Seven months in to 2021 and it is already at £181 billion.

That more than covers the extra £350m per week, wouldn't you agree?

I wouldn’t.

The NHS budget for 2019/2020 was £150.4bn, up £13bn on the 2016(2017 figure which is less than the £350m promised. The £212bn figure includes more than £60bn of additional funding specifically for the pandemic, it in no way relates the money additional general expenditure which was the thrust of the Vote Leave claims.

The below sets it all out and gives more context about spending trends.

£60 billion of that was pandemic response, not your average year

Boris promised £350m extra per week for the NHS after Brexit though

He didn't though, it was a vague suggestion about saving 350 million AND spending extra on the NHS because a direct promise isn't something mnay politicians do.

The bus said "We send 350 million to the EU a week. Lets fund our NHS instead" and we should be wise enough to know that's not a promise of 350 million per week extra for the NHS, largely because anybody paying attention knew we didn't actually send 350 million per week once our rebate was factored in.
What was on the side of that bus was as good a promise as any manifesto you'll ever see. Political bumfluff.

The NHS has seen it's budget increased but it also needs reform...and on this I should stop now because I'll end up ranting about devolution and it not being a true UK NHS anymore!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

That would have been put in regardless, because of the pandemic. let's see what happens if and when this crisis ever ends.
