Scandinavian countries have socialist policies.

You seem to have answered a question I haven’t asked there.

I asked if you have any examples of countries that have implemented socialism and it been successful long term…

Knowing of course that there isn’t any examples of it and in order to even make a case you would have to point to countries that aren’t socialist in the slightest. The Nordic model isn’t socialism, and doesn’t claim to be.

People need to understand opinions are just that.

P posts without poison and hate . The fact I do not agree with much of what he writes is as of nowt.

Too many see great posts as those with which they agree. The converse is often true..

The Nordic model is a hybrid system which features a mix of capitalist economics with socialist values.

We are talking welfare programs, social benefits and income distribution.

So it’s not socialism then. It’s a mixed-market capitalist economic system that features high degrees of private ownership, it’s not socialism or anything resembling it.

We aren’t talking about small freckles of socialism propped up by a wealth of capitalism. Because that would of course be seemed more capitalist than socialist.

So do we have any examples of socialism that has worked long term?

We don’t, do we.

It's socialist policies that the Scandinavian countries implement, they have very high taxation to pay for their socialist policies.

Do you agree with the Nordic system compared to USA, UK ?

Do you think the Nordic model is the best economic and social system in the World ?

It’s not socialism though, is it. It’s capitalism.

The Nordic model works for small countries because it is essentially capitalism. Capitalism will always have a high degree of success probability wherever it is implemented.

Socialism won’t though, which is why it has never worked anywhere in history and usually fails after a generation or two. Not only does it fail but it usually leads to decades upon decades of economic depression, some struggle to recover to any sort of real degree.

That’s the beast showing fangs, employing the full coercive/terror stratagem of the police state.

What people on here are actually advocating when they employ the term’Socialism’ is a rosy mixture of wishful thinking and Methodist Sunday School teaching.

I’ve answered, you haven’t though.

Their capitalist Nordic model works well for them, it wouldn’t work in countries like America though due to GDP that would fall as it has for the Nordic nations, but that isn’t as impactful to them, where as it would cripple America and they wouldn’t be able to make it sustainable. So no, is the answer I don’t think it’s the best system in the world.

A good example of where both are needed for society to work.

Capitalism to charge the economy and pay for the socialism to stop folks getting left behind.

It’s the way forward for all and does not need to be a binary choice.

Socialism goes to far when it can’t pay for itself (let alone innovation) and capitalism goes to far when it becomes selfish and falls into economic conservatism.

Socialism can never pay for itself, it fails from the day it’s implemented. Nobody has any control over their destiny and it’s a waiting game before your family is searching out stale bread to survive. I liken it to jumping out of a plane without a parachute, you may still be alive at the current moment - it’s just waiting to hit the ground.

Capitalism gives an element of control over your families life. Each wealth class is completely interchangeable and you can go from the poorest class to the richest class, largely depending on hard work and entereprenpurialship.

Any smattering of socialist ideal within a capitalist framework is still capitalism. Any large taxation to supplement others will just see those people take their wealth (and their jobs) elsewhere. As you have seen in California and the exodus of the state.

I don’t disagree.

How you quantify the amount of socialism I don’t know.

What I do know is that it has to be there.

Not sure what you mean by “going on about it”. I was simply replying to you.

You made an observation regarding a possible reason, I responded to that reasoning by telling you that it didn’t really make sense as a reason.

This thread has become about you as much as it has about me. You brought up a view that you clearly didn’t want to be discussed, which is odd.

What an odd exchange.

Try no to get so invested, you won’t find it odd then, it’s just chitchat, and honestly I don’t care if you are far right.

Communism, even as an ideology, is only ever supposed to be temporary. Socialism in a capitalist society is perfectly realistic.
