| That idiot Johnson on 08:13 - Aug 21 by felixstowe_jack | Good news for the UK. The successful vaccination programme has saved an estimated 95,000 to 100,000 in England alone . If you add in deaths saved in Scotland, Wales and Ni that is 110,000 to 115,000 lives saved thanks to the UK government decision to leave the EU vaccine procurement process. Well done Boris. |
Johnson has been totally useless and 135,000 uk citizens have died. Brilliant scientists created the vaccines that saved many lives. Our brilliant Welsh NHS got them in arms. Our economy took the worst hit in Europe due to Johnson idiot policies like ‘Eat out to help out’. Cost many lives no doubt and let to another lockdown. Idiot. Trolley is the right nickname for the fool.

Nobody is unit to be a human being even you killy. Please respect the democratic wish of the UK electorate. Why on earth would you burn down schools that have the highest education standards in the UK. Would you burn all books as well? You sound more like your terrorist friends the Taliban and IRA. Would you ban all cars save 2000 lives a year and 175,000 injuries? Would you ban smoking save 78,000 lives a year? Would you ban alcohol save 7343? Life would be pretty miserable in your dreamland. Yes quite specific public schools have far better results and offer a better education than state schools. Why burn them down? Why dumb down education standards? No reply to any of the other questions. Guess they are too hard for you.

The uncaring, arrogant, entitled type of people they produce too often tells us all that its very being is a growing danger to our wider society. I prefer burned to the ground rather than closed, as it ensures no return. Practical considerations are important.

By the time the extras are factored in you could probably add another £3k, down here base line fees range esteem £15k and £18k, when you start talking about the schools the likes of Boris went to you’re up just short of £50k per year and the world these people live in is completely separate to our world.

It’ll be far more than that if a child has special needs. Of course that would be unusual as the % of children with SEN in private schools and mainstream schools are incomparable - I can’t imagine why the results don’t compare. Mind you, the gap is only really in attainment. When it comes to progress state schools do as well or better in most cases. Having said all that I have no issue at all with common or garden private schools.

My issue with private schools is probably the same as Kilky's. Kids that go there, when they leave they largely do better in life than kids from state schools. They may not be cleverer, no more intelligent than many stae educated kids but they get better jobs. The old school tie, family name and funny handshake brigades still open doors that most of us can't open. Look at the politicians and upper reaches of the civil service. Sir Humphrey types that look down on people who didn't go to the right schools. How else can we explain things like Bojo reaching the top. I suppose Simon Case proves me wrong though he went to a Grammar school and Trinity college Cambridge, so not Eton or Harrow and his Grammar would ONLY cost around 10-15k per year.

| That idiot Johnson on 17:25 - Aug 29 with 563 views | Gwyn737 | I agree with you on the top end ones where the tie carries weight. For others where university is the next step the playing field is pretty equal. The other reason I don’t call for the end of these general private schools is that I don’t see any difference between paying 10k a year for schooling, and buying a house for a premium in a ‘good’ catchment area. Same same. | | | |

You are missing the point. Individual choice i can live with. I do get that. Thats where i have been my whole life. Since the 2016 Brexit vote though i have changed my mind. These people care nothing for the UK. They knew the damage Brexit would do, but because they would make lots of money from the disruption caused then they championed it. And if it was funded by Russia then they should be jailed for treason. People from state comprensives just dont end up having these values. Its very damaging for the rest of us, so it needs to end. Steal £100 go to jail, push £100m to an old friend and its all good. It needs to end.

| That idiot Johnson on 19:07 - Aug 29 with 537 views | Dr_Winston | People should absolutely have the right to privately educate their children. Just as they should have the right to private health care, or any other service they require. More people doing things privately is less people dependent upon the state. Of course, dependence upon the state is the end game for some people. | |

Most of us couldn't afford to move to a good catchment area OR pay 10k for better schooling. My problem isn't with kids getting a better education though, my problem is the system that allows recruiters at the top end to give jobs to people who went to an acceptable school never mind how suitable they are. We need to balance out the recruitment processes so a school tie cannot get you the job. There are way too many Sir Humphreys, the problem is they control those systems. It seems even elected politicians are powerless in certain situations. Just look at Wales, the Senedd wanted to reduce the number of LA's but the WLGA got stroppy and the Senedd caved in.

Yep. The campaign against private education is based on nothing but envy. Of course, working class children had access to education approaching private levels too via the Grammar system, but the same interests campaigned against them as well. Nobody is allowed to be better in their eyes. Mediocrity for all.

Agree completely with you on private school. Disagree completely with you on grammars. IMO grammar schools are far more divisive and demonstrably reduce social mobility. I’d shut them all. They’re kept alive by rare success stories where somebody’s working class uncle passed the 11 plus and now is a FTSE CEO.
