The problem is when a new manager has such a good run, like McCarthy, it will end badly ?
Or will it ?

In your opinion of course. It was extremely successful though.

It's not about moving on, they are in our league and Cooper is clearly still a much talked about figure.

If he loses against Fulham next, which is likely. The board will be awash with comments, so I think its fair we track the progress in a fair and equal manner.

Don't click if you don't like. The title is clearly about him.

Seems as good a thread as any to keep tabs on the records anyway, I’ll update after every game week.

Points per game achieved:-

Steve Cooper: 2.60 ppg
Russell Martin: 1.30 ppg

As promised, to keep up the ppg comparison this season for Resolven who thinks SC will have a worse season than RM:-

Steve Cooper: 2.16 ppg
Russell Martin: 1.21 ppg

Those stats look to me as if the gap is closing, then again it means nothing.

It will close up and lengthen out many times depending on results over the course of the season. The gap widened after the set of results before hand, for example.

The stats show how each manager is getting results on a per game average. Not sure what you mean by it meaning nothing. It means that.

People have had it in for Cooper for the last 18 months, they love it when he loses so I think it’s only fair to bring a semblance of balance to proceedings by covering all matches and not just the ones he doesn’t win. A good young Welsh manager is of interest.

That’s fair isn’t it?

Which bit do you think is winding me up exactly?

My point when Cooper was here is that he is an excellent manager getting excellent results. I was told I was wrong. Cooper was called a fraud. We were told we will see if he is a good manager taking over bottom of the league Forest.

Well we have seen him get 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in 6 games.

The same amount of wins in his short 6 games as we have got all season.

Why would that wind me up? I’m being proven right again aren’t I?

I didn’t say it was up to me, you do what you like.

But you told me not to respond to, you for some reason (I’m still unsure why). You clearly have some kind of an issue with this interaction, I don’t.

My suggestion was, if you didn’t want any response, then rather than tell others not to respond to you, it may be better to not comment in the first place.

Easy.

I am not sure who will have the better season. I think it will actually be quite close between the two. I suggested a comparison at the end of the season excluding roughly the first 10 or 11 games as a 'bedding in' period. A week ago they were on the same points .

They still are with both having a 1.5 points per game average after 2 games.

Why be concerned with the past as both were in entirely different scenarios and now both are level.

I can't see any logic in erasing months worth of results.

Both will need to bed in, both will need to adapt, both will have up and downs - you could argue that the circumstances that Cooper took over were far worse, and still should be. He hasn't been able to bring in a single player.

You take EVERY game into consideration, you don't just start from whenever the poor form from Martin ended and selectively shoehorn data.

Martin has managed 14 games this season and got 17 points.
Cooper has managed 6 games this season and got 13 points.

Football seasons are about ups and downs. You can't be taking away Martins downs and Coopers ups and then compare, its senseless.

If Cooper ''bedded in'' quicker than Martin did then that is to his credit and part of his makeup as manager, not something to be penalised for. He has started quickly in all 3 of his Championship seasons so far.

Something Martin needs to address in his managerial curve, he starts slowly, was the same for MK Dons. He can't get a free pass on that weakness.

They all count. every game. There will be no selectively adding or discounting matches here. Every league game they manage this season, counts.

Sure I’ll update. Not sure why you think I would do that only when we lose.

Do you have any quotes you are basing that off or just being a troll again?
