| Migrants getting in to the U.K. more than ever before ? on 12:55 - Nov 28 by Gwyn737 | The NHS and care system is held up by foreign nations though isn’t it? I’m not for one minute advocating a free for all - just a functioning system that’ll stop the need for people to cross the channel on inflatables. |
But to the public its seems like it is a free for all . Certainly for economic migration there are systems in place and some of those trying to cross the channel are trying to circumvent those systems .

The governments own figures show that over 70% of those floating across the channel are refugees/asylum seekers and not economic migrants. We’ve shut or have massive waiting lists for the official routes (where ones have been established in the first place). The government is refusing to properly address this issue. We’ve got Mr. Johnson and Mr. Macron busy playing to their respective galleries without making any proper plans. We’re going to need to sort this out on our own I reckon.

Funny because the French seem to think the UK is just too darn attractive to migrants, economically speaking. Taken from the Express, "French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said that Britain must be "responsible" by making the country less attractive for migrants. He said: "Britain must take its responsibility and limit its economic attractiveness. "Britain left Europe, but not the world. We need to work seriously on these questions, without being held hostage by domestic British politics." Apart from him being wrong, we didn't leave Europe, we left the EU and we did so because we could be more attractive a proposition. Again, they signed a deal with us they knew they couldn't keep to under their own laws. It's all BS. If 30% of them are economic migrants then come here legally and apply for the right permissions. Of course they can't because of the immigration rules so they risk their lives and it ends up with deaths, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/wor The father stayed behind because he didn't want to lose his job as a policeman and now his family may well be dead. How many more tragedies do we need? Does anyone have a clue what the answer is because I haven't. We can't keep letting people die, neither can we keep having thousands of immigrants/refugees coming here illegally. We have to do something but t has to be right AND fair. I can and will criticise the government but honestly, I'm blooming glad it's not my decision.

Its funny if you listen to the media and Labour politicians and that little oozing haemorrhoid Owen Jones and they’ll all tell you that Britain is deeply racist, British people are all scum and we all should just collectively jump in the sea and drown ourselves out of shame at how terrible we are. But the migrants want to come here because they genuinely believe we will treat them better and give them a better life than most countries out there. And people say we don’t do enough, according to the office of national statistics there were nearly 10 million foreign born people living in the uk in 2018. That’s 14% of the entire population. Of course not all of them are asylum seekers but it shows that we absolutely welcome people from all over the world to these shores. And apart from the odd isolated incident (which you’re always going to get) and despite the media’s relentless attempts to stir up a race war we don’t get the same sort of tension they have in other countries or across the pond. Most people just get along. The answer is simple. But it lies with France. Disperse the migrant camps on the coast, round them all up and process them under EU law. We could take some, then others go to Germany, Spain, Ireland etc. If they don’t like it where they end up, tough titties. But France are probably happy with them getting on the boat and leaving, I wouldn’t mind betting they are working with the smugglers.

I don't know if they believe they will get it better here than anywhere. The truth is, they don't. Our benefit system is no more generous than any other. France has taken many more than we have, so i don't blame France for wanting us to pull our weight too.

The French police /authorities are making it difficult for the migrants to stay and with pictures emerging of them turning a blind eye when the boats are being launched then imo I'd say this is French policy. its a pity they weren't so bullish in the 1940's

I can assure you the uk has a benefit system far more generous than spain as an example. Here if you don’t work and you are not spanish you get nothing. Nada. Which is why all migrants, refugees or whatever they are called this week, float on to the beaches here and leg it north to France. They don’t go to Italy for the same reasons.

Trust me there is no benefits system in Spain for anyone who isn’t Spanish who doesnt work. Pay in or get nothing is the brief. As an aside, where do amnesty international disagree with me ? If there is anything that they say contrary to what I’ve said, they are lying trust me.

And it’s a very cleverly worded article that unfortunately only talks in general terms and gives no specific details. Very Amnesty International. I’ll leave you with this from the gift of Spain website. The benefits system in Spain is very generous, but the key to taking anything from the system is to have paid into it in the first place: because the benefits are contribution-based, the more you have contributed, the more you will receive if you need it. However, you cannot just enter Spain and claim benefits, there is no system for that. You either work and pay contributions or you don’t, the latter meaning you get nothing.

Ok, what did I say ? Read back, take stock and come back to me, In fact no, I give up. You keep fact checking on a different subject to the one I answered. And I’ll keep telling you there’s no benefit system in Spain for people who do not work. And when it dawns on you you are trying to prove a point on information which is not what I am referring to you can do what a few others do on here. Nobody can come to Spain and claim benefits.

Just like ww1, when the French did the bulk of the fighting and took the sting out of the German army, while the BEF was doing it's best to avoid conflict. A bit of historical reading wouldn't do you any harm instead of making propagandised generalisations.

Your trying to educate pork here mate. Don’t bother, if he can’t tell the difference between an asylum claim and a countries benefits system then let him crack on. He’s like a couple of others on here, looking to undermine a few people even though what they are arguing is based on what they don’t know. Hey CV, are you getting hard yet 😂

It’s a bit harsh to suggest the french did most of the fighting. Ok they certainly took the brunt of it but Britain and the empire saw over a million dead all over the world.
| Migrants getting in to the U.K. more than ever before ? on 16:23 - Nov 29 with 502 views | Catullus | The claim about France getting twice as many refugee/asylum claims, it can be factually correct but France is over 247000 KM square, the UK is less than 94000KM square, they are 2.5 times our size. France has 122 people per square KM but the UK is over twice as densely populated at 260 per KM2. France has much more room than us, we have more people than them in a smaller country so they can take more. Amnesty claims they are all refugees, I don't believe ALL of them are. A large chunk are economic migrants. Amnesty has a vested interest in saying they ALL are. Still it's hard to complain about people from the middle East heading West when it was Western armies that shagged their countries up. Look at Afghanistan, we went in like a crazed bull, we bombed anything that moved, we made very generous promises then we pulled out and left them to the Taliban Awful. | |

During an initial six-month period, individuals applying for asylum in Spain are housed in shared accommodation. Here, they receive food and a monthly allowance of roughly €50. An additional €19 is provided for each child. Expenses such as public transport, medical treatment, language courses and the use of translators are reimbursed if an invoice is provided. In a subsequent six-month period, applicants move into private accommodation and the Spanish state covers their rent. In addition, applicants get a monthly allowance of between €300 and €500, depending on marital status. In a third and final six-month phase, applicants are allowed to work. They only receive social benefits in absolute emergencies. As the topic is about migrants, I thought it was relevant. If not then I won't comment again.
