It seems like an amicable split. A few hits and a few misses to be sure. They talk of a 'new recruitment' strategy with two new people set to join. Not sure what that means.

I think it means a different direction with new ideas and faces

That is not a 'strategy'. It could mean the use of a more mathematical or digital approach (in absence of a more suitable word - Analytical perhaps?) as used at Brentford necessitating people with different skill sets to Scott. It could be focussing more on Europe or Africa for example or younger age groups.

The statement mentions two new roles, but not necessarily new people. A few were already hired in the summer, split between senior and development duties.

Club must be spending a mint printing up new business cards for everyone every six months.

So what is the new strategy?

A new analytical approach. This means software and analysis tools perg haps things Scott s skillset was not suited to.

Or it is concentrating on u18 player only.

Perhaps concentrating on geographic areas like Africa like Belgian teams do very successfully or eastern Europe. Swansea have dabbled with camps in Ireland with no results whatsoever.

If we are looking to off shore talent we will find it harder to come by with our UK and FA rules.

No mention of players from USA?

Definitely Mark Allen flexing his muscles, we did respond to this on weds last week, for me it’s only news if he is being successful. The fact he is leaving a 195k a year post is good news for the swans.

timing is odd.
surely it would have been best for him to leave on 31st January 2022?

Africa, Eastern Europe, Ireland …..? 🤣😂😊

Try Treboeth, Tycoch and Townhill first.

Anyway how long was Andy Scott in post ? And did he do useful work ?

The u18s recruitment was restructured in the summer with Neil Roberts joining Jack Chapman with duties roughly split along regional and local lines. Whether that's the long term plan or was just a temporary fix after Mark Allen's promotion from academy duty idk.

Andy Scott worked with Brentford and Matthew Benham's scouting company while the developed their data-driven models, so I wouldn't imagine he'd be first out the door if that was to be our focus. Mark Allen strikes me as more a "contacts book" type than a spreadsheets man. Derek Langley joined us with an impressive track record from his time at Man Utd, but there had been complaints about their lack of modernisation in player identification methods.

Post-Brexit makes foreign recruitment trickier. Different nations have different work permit rules and Belgium is very accepting of non-EU players, even relative to France or the Netherlands, so it's always been a convenient first port of call for African players with no previous international pedigree.

Gives time to get new team together for January and maybe he had an offer where a club wanted him in time for the next transfer window.
Can’t say recruitment has been a roaring success but some decent finds this season.

Any championship team that signed Downes, Laird, Ntcham, Paterson, Piroe would surely be happy.
Albeit Paterson and Downes were instigated by Martin.

As was Laird.
Ncham it seems was initiated by Allen.

"It seems like an amicable split.
"seems" being the operative word.
They are hardly going to say that he just can't work with Martin or somebody else are they?

As long as the yanks don’t get that moneyball guy back, no one can be as bad as he was. Dreadful appointment.

Come on then brain of Britain, who have we produced from the Swansea area itself, apart from big Joe Rodz ?

Was it Jazz and Macca before that ?
Both retired now, of course.

Saddens me so much.
Surely get back to basics.
Where are our local boys of pedigree these days?
Within a 3 mile radius of our stadium we have been the breeding ground of quality players over the years.
Where do I start ?
Allchurches through to Rodon etc

Kilks doesn't consider them a youth product unless they were born in SA1 - SA7. Otherwise they're foreigners.

Wise?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Earned his money several times over with Piroe alone.
