Reading ffs….one of the few places in the uk you will never find any opposition
There must be up there with Ipswich, Wycombe and Cambridge……

Wow was I really that skinny and I love Doug's accent how swansea is he? lol

It was never going to be a trouble day it was just the perfect storm well over 2000 Jacks on an away game, about 2 hours up the road, a lovely warm sunny day, beer flowing freely and then Swansea City fans quickly realised the Thames Valley police had no control, no idea and no leadership so Swansea City fans just took full advantage of their vulnerability and dictated the day very much like the Luton v Millwall game back in the mid 80's simple as that it wasn't about fighting Reading fans it was just about pi1ssed up anarchy.

That Inspector should have been sacked the very next day.

I can only imagine that last sentence being said with a stifled snigger Cat.

Nope, no sniggers, not even heavily stifled. I take my son to the Swans now and the last thing I'd want is him getting caught up in anything dull. I've seen it far too many times. I've been very close to it on several occasions and I can't figure out why anyone ever thought it was fun or clever to lamp seven bells out of someone over football. Even when I used to laugh at stuff I was largely laughing at their stupidity. I let them get on with it and walked away.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Only joking, I feel exactly the same. Been on the end of it twice, both strangely enough at Notts County. Never, ever looked for it, just not my bag. Comical at a distance though.

A bit like Darlington mate 😉

Funny you should say that now they did once have a few and they often had Leeds with them for some reason….about your level in fact darlo with Exeter, Hereford and the shrews…a good 50 or maybe 80 on a good day. League 1/2. Back in the day of course when it was rife everywhere.

Totally surreal. Outside the ground I saw mates who had already been in rucks with the police and other fans. I was with "respectable" guys that day in the stand and glad I was in hindsight. There were still guys trying to encourage the prawn sandwich brigade to get involved from where we were.
Rubbish game though the funny point was the fan climbing the floodlight and fans singing the jacks are going up

For some bizarre reason Queens & Pencoed boys fighting each other that day.

Pretty mad day.

Really strange crazy day as if everyone knew something was going to happen

We hired a ford transit van that day and left it at a multi storey car park near the railway station. Its was unlocked windows open in a right mess beer cans everywhere with a mattress and a massive McDonalds picnic umbrella in the back. The police phoned the hire company thinking it had been stolen but when the woman in the hire company answered she said to the police in a Twin Town way "No love its alright don't worry the boys have hired it to go to the football"

Sure, particularly back in those days as most opposition clubs in the lower leagues had no fans who were lively, so the police were the obvious target or the usual fighting amongst ourselves which used to occur all the time. No doubt quite a few bans and six o clock knocks after? Some of ours got 5 and 10 yr bans for battles with the police and the agro wasn’t even in the ground!

My level 🤔
That day in the little side street outside the pub in Darlo centre mind.

Are you doing the numbers game again ? More than you, seats fans, hooligans 🤷‍♀️
It’s an age old fantasy. Apart from the empty seats of course.

Youve lost me there…most teams in the lower leagues had small crews back then. We had lots of different ones as you know, sometimes they hooked up, sometimes not….there was one small group you never wanted to bump into even as another cardiff fan. They didn’t go for numbers, they went to avoid so they go undetected and any Jack worth his salt knows exactly who I mean.

Rampaging making yourselves known through Bath city centre is the way to do it Benny, if you are looking for aggro with American tourists. Not sure what ‘level’ you’d class that at.

Don't think you realise what different groups of Swans there are Benny, 50 or 80 boys ..
There have been for more than that on the Valley Boys tours
