Surely the finest breed of dog ever to grace these islands.

Anybody disagree?

I prefer a Labrador or a Spaniel and preferably again, a crossbreed of the two.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Not that I’m biased, but definitely a cocker spaniel, around 3 years old.

German Shepherds are the best dogs.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

My Grandfather back in the ‘80s had a beautiful Alsatian, Kes. It was my job, never a chore, to walk him as Grampa became less able.

Fabulous dog he was, Doc.

My family has had five of them over the years.

Loyal, smart, playful and, it has to be admitted, wilful to the point of distraction sometimes.

This is the current one.

Beautiful, Doc.

I can’t imagine life without dogs. There are three snoring around my feet as I write this. I’ll not find better friends than these. 👍

Lost my beautiful 7yo GSD in November. She was my girl and I’m devastated. Too young to go.

We’ve also got a Choccy Cocker who is 11 this year and a fantastic character.

On top of that my daughter who still lives with us has a Lurcher. Oh my God…!!!

Dobermans for me, although someone I see in Pilot got a Springer, its a cracker busy intelligent and brilliant temperament, its a rescue dog he had virtually straight after he lost his last one at the age of 15 I think, two very different characters, although this one is only around 3 or 4, but still you can see that they are different characters, he's Liver and White as was is other one, I said to Mrs I wouldn't mind a Springer myself, tough call after 4 Dobes though.

It's always one of the saddest parts of life with a GSD is that you know it won't be a long one. 10-11 years tops. Unfortunately idiotic breeding has led to this.

Unfortunately I couldn't have a dog at present as I live solo and it just wouldn't be fair on the dog to leave it on it's own for 8+ hours a day.

Fortunately my GF has a deeply dopey Jack Russell type, my sister has a God Knows what rescued from Croatia and my mum has the idiot mentioned above.

I do OK considering.

Oh what a beaut. Cherish him Doc, spend every minute you can with him.

Have you seen Rocky the GSD videos on YouTube. He’s a fantastic beast as well. Strangely made me feel better when I lost Masie.

I've seen the Rocky videos.

We adopted two originally from South Wales Police. Sabre who was a Ginger Alsatian/Husky cross lunatic who wanted to jump ten foot fences to fight with other dogs, and Roscoe who some Bastard (that I'd still like to put nails in) battered all of the spirit out of. We'd had him a year before we heard him bark.

Super, super bright. Not the easiest to train like some dumbo lab - stubborn and independent workers, and it’s because they’re so intelligent.

Dumbo Lab? Come on mun, there's a reason they're used for guide dogs.

My sister had a GSD and it was thick as mince, they took it to classes but even the class owner gave up on him. Worst still it developed a bond with my sister and it wouldn't let my bro in law anywhere near her, he'd come into the room and it'd growl at him, bark, hackles up. They had to give it away after it properly went for him. The police took it in the end. I used to wonder if they ever managed to train him!

One of the smartest dogs anyone in my family ever had was a St Bernard.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

How do you find him with kids .
I like Dobermans but we are Mali people.
Sadly, we haven’t the guts to own one as when we had our GSD put to sleep,it was horrendous and to lose a dog at our age would be worse.

Ok I’m 72 but still fit and love training a dog. Malis are time consuming though Steve and when we start taking holidays again, hopefully soon, a dog would be a tie. My daughter has offered to have it but not sure how her Mali would accept another dog for a couple of weeks .
Kennels out of the question as they are not the best for being left without owners . They live to please .
Bloody heartbreakers they are

I’d post a photo of o
Daughters Mali but don’t know how.
