BBC funding 13:57 - Jan 16 with 4150 viewsJACKMANANDBOY

I must admit I do not watch much BBC, standards have dropped and news and current affairs is full of opinion rather than journalism. I find the World Service on Radio to be pretty good, otherwise Netflix, Amazon, C4 Player and Sky give me more than enough choice for the hour or so I watch TV each day.
Amazon's production budget is astronomical by comparison, the likes of SKY have a much bigger budget for top class sport, chasing old ladies for £150 quid seems futile in comparison. The BBC audience is skewed to the over 50s which is unsustainable.
Forcing the organisation to change is probably the right decision and should have happened 15 years ago.

Mary Beard conducted a glowing 'bring back Hilary' ad on the BBC, paid for by us, and called it an 'interview'.

People who pay the licence fee, who pay Mary's wages, expect her to ask Clinton some questions regarding some of our concerns. This is bias Gwyn. The bias is in your face, clear for all to see.

If the BBC are prepared to lie to us, and conduct propaganda campaigns for one American political party over the other....what else are they not reporting / lying about.
The Presidency of the United States is as big as it gets Gwyn.
How about 'journalists' whose wages we pay, instead of making assertions that there was no evidence of election fraud in the US presidential elections 2020 (impossible, they claim...despite running those same stories in the opposite direction in 2016 - Despite the current corrupt regime trying to permanently change the rules of US elections in an unconstitutional manner right now)...how about they actually get their arses over there and investigate the claims being made, interview people who have sworn affidavits, interview politicians involved in the Audits, and then demand answers from Democrat politicians, pressure groups, Mark Zuckerberg etc.?
...and then we could all make our own minds up based on the evidence presented before us and how convincing the response was.

Did you know that in Georgia there is video evidence of young people with backpacks dropping off thousands of ballots in the 'absentee ballot boxes' in the early hours of the morning.
Can you imagine what the BBC would have done with that when the Democrats were accusing Trump of stealng the 2016 election?
The average Brit does not know these things because they are not reported on.

https://www.christianitydaily.

This story is kind of relevant right now don't you agree?
The BBC will only be running stories that claim Republicans are planning to "steal" elections by insisting that only American citizens vote and only vote once, having to provide ID for example.
You know it, I know it, we all know it.
The BBC has lost all credibility, they have done it to themselves.

Mrs Clinton would make an excellent President.

She loves Swansea and the Swans.

That’s the same story, isn’t it?

I don’t think you can hold the entire episode accountable to the BBC coverage.

Sometimes whilst trying to present sides to a story, something an individual won’t agree with will come up. That’s not bias, that’s impartiality. I’ll say again, most trusted UK news. Consistently.

Mind you, Winston’s earlier point has got me thinking….

I didn't hold the entire episode accountable to the BBC, I pointed out that the BBC weren't interested in investigative journalism around this episode because it didn't suit their agenda...but then I'm sure you got that from what I wrote, you are a teacher after all (comprehension should be a strong point)... which makes me wonder why you are misrepresenting what I said.

"Most trusted UK news" just means that the BBC has a brand, based on journalism of the past, which people up until now have trusted.
The young people (<40) now don't watch the BBC...and the older (40>) centre/centre-right people have come to realise that the BBC is both biased and despises us and our values.
It is now a channel for old Lefties who like to have their biases confirmed and not challenged.

The writing is now on the wall for the BBC. As somebody else pointed out earlier on the thread...those old Lefties who think the BBC is great value for money should have to fund it themselves, I now resent paying money to pampered old luvvies who don't deserve my money in order that they can continue to earn a fortune sneering at me.
I'm sure millions feel the same way.

An example of some questions (they are US focused - but lots should be of interest to the BBC) that "journalists" (people who are on a quest for the truth) should be posing...

Obviously terrible news driven by a despotic, authoritarian, populist government in the final throws of their tenure. It’s tantamount to censorship when the spiteful and mean spirited Nadine Dorries says he BBC should be ‘held to account’ …. For what? For holding our criminal PM to account, that’s what. No doubt it will get raving support from the Brexit supporting looney Bodger cheerleaders. One day you’ll realise this is all about him, not you.

During the election campaign we thought that the BBC, particularly Laura Kuenssberg and Fiona Bruce, were biased toward Boris and not the scruffy one. We even thought Kuenssberg was a Boris fan girl or on his payroll. Indeed I seem to remember her being described as his unofficial spokesperson.
I don't know what he done to her since because that position has changed. There are still decent reporters at the BBC but the standards are not what they used to be and I get my info from a variety of channel. I still visit BBC.co.uk/news first every day though.

Should everyone have to pay full price for something they hardly ever use? I don't even have BBC radio on in the car.

You wouldn't pay for Sky if you never watched a sky channel.

There is something of the BBC I do look at regularly, the online news.

You don’t need a tv license to listen to the bbc radio stations or go on the bbc website. The tv license seems such an anachronism today, they do need to change it. The only reason I got a license in the first place is because I got fed up of having to eat my telly every time the licensing man came around.

Murdoch will lose money over this - the Sky platform doesn’t host the BBC channels for free. Kiss goodbye to all the things you take for granted, all for about a tenner a month. No more R4, R5, popmaster, BBC Online, iPlayer, world Service, Quest, CBeebies, learning, News 24, Dave, etc….. all for a fraction of what you’re prepeAred to pay for Sky, Netflix, etc. Bloody idiots.

I would add that I would be happy to see the licences fee like a bus pass - if you draw state pension the licence comes for free. Way too socialist to go very well here, but just a thought.

I’ve always thought the BBC to be biased to the right and genuinely believe they gave Horis an easy ride over the last few years.

The Conservative government seem determined to neuter the BBC and Channel 4, two broadcasters who’ve investigated allegations of impropriety and misconduct by the government. The media is, by enlarge controlled by a small group of people who lean heavily to the right, because the BBC are impartial they look like an outlier compared to the rest of the media. For just over a £3a week, it’s good value.

if anything it's you that gets wound up if anyone has the audacity to disagree with any of your views, but hey, you crack on butt, because if you think I give a toss, you're mixing me up with someone that does.

Looks almost as if you’re quoting a different post, as literally everything you have posted there is incoherent.

Where did I say anyone was stopping freedom of thought? That’s right, I didn’t.

I don’t care if anyone doesn’t agree it’s my views - do you think I shouldn’t post them then?

Someone’s wound up, but it’s not me. 😂😂

You’re not on my radar, and I’m not mixing it up with you. If you didn’t quote me I wouldn’t be aware of you or whatever views you hold. Read on if you are not equipt to be challenged to think for yourself.

Look up ironic.

I am happy to be in the minority. Do you think I should form an opinion based on what is spouted on here?

You’re last sentence is worth a mention, because it makes absolutely zero sense.
