We’ve gone from Mel Charles hitching a lift to The Vetch on the back of a milk float to mediocre foreign players demanding private parking spaces for their Bentleys in my lifetime. The excess needs to be reigned in. Working people of finite means are the lifeblood of every club, they deserve better than to be played for fools.

Unfortunately those times when 'working people' identified with the footballers they watched week in week out have long gone. As long as we have wealthy Saudi, Russian, Chinese, American etc 'investors' willing to pay inflated transfer fees and wages then that disconnect will prevail. I cannot see that changing now. It seems that modern football club supporters welcome such investment, regardless of it's dubious origins. Just look at the reaction of Newcastle fans to their Club's takeover. Yes, bumping into Swans players down the old snooker hall has long gone.

Not really. Season ticket holders have already paid. We would likely get a good few thousand more coming in at that price, which would offset the loss. Plus extra food and drink sales, possibly merchandise sales. Plus the fact that people would likely come again if they enjoyed it. Better atmosphere too. It's all about marketing.

Builthy, I think there are 6500 thousand seats available that are not already paid for. Probabably 4000 for the home support. It would be a nice gesture but surely it would be loe making exercise, especially if all the seats are nor sold? Away fans will probably come anyway but what percentage would that increase by if prices were slashed? Better merchandise sales on the day and more food sold for sure.

The marketing has to be right. We as a club are not great at marketing. There shouldn't be all those empty seats every game.

Are we saying that every member of the Uncle Sam club has put their hands in their own pockets (after the sale obviously) to fund the same? If not, why are you firing across the bows of a a major body that was responsible for actually saving the club?

According to Mr Winter the US owners, Mr Silverstein and other shareholdrer(S) have all invested in the convertible loan note. This means the local Welsh shareholders (except one). The Trust are the only shareholder who has not contributed as 21% shareholder to the new money that has come into the club and subsidised the season ticket prices for example. This thread asks for £5 per game subsidy. Who is going to pay for it? Why not the Trust? The fans seem to have no problem the Trust paying £250k to English legal firms. A £200k cheque from them will allow the club to pay the £5 ticket price. Sadly the Trust cannot do anything as it needs a members vote. This will take months. The Trust did a good job in 2002 I applaud them. They have however lost their way and need reform just like the WRU did 20 years ago.

- Correct, the trust were the only ones excluded. - Correct, the trust were the only ones excluded. - probably because they were excluded. - democracy can take time. - reform into what? They are a supporters trust, which is what they were set up as and what they still operate as. [Post edited 18 Jan 2022 18:26]

Reform into an entity that can make deals, invest the club and make decisions not taking 6 months to a year. The SCST is a turtle that has outgrown its exoskeleton and refuses to shed its old shell. There are limits on it but these need to be investigated by a consultant to define a credible strategy that is good for the club and city. It is now serving the interest of the English financial services and legal community. This is not what it was set up to do. This should have been done in 2015 when US investors were introduced and needed.

- they can do all that now should it be required. - you know legal representation is required (no idea what relevance their nationality is) to pursue the sale of shares. Which is a sound strategy. These funds can only be spent in relation to the club unlike the personal finances of any other body. This is exactly what it was set up to do. - as has been told to repeatedly lack of funds dictates what the trust can do as well as trust regulations. So that would have been a waste of money and time.

The "US" owners reap the benefits of owning the Club , They bought it with their eyes wide open , so why not chip in yourself if you're happy and have the funds to do so
