I think it is when you look at the summer spending as well.

Fans see loans and don't think the club is spending money. Wolf and Christie are big investments for the short-term, and young Finley is far from a cheap option.

The club lined deals up in the hope/expectation that players would move on, and when said players stayed put the club pulled the plug. Given the sums involved in this window and the last it's the only sensible move. Limitless spending on players coming in is a non-starter, demanded only by idiots. Of course, had the club not bothered to line up alternatives and players had left late in the window anyway they'd be getting slagged for that too.

No one wants limitless spending but refusing to cough up a measly 300k for a single player who’s essentially guaranteed by all accounts to be worth much more than that in a few years is simply awful business to put it mildly

All these players are fantastic in January and often disappoint by June. Goykeres Sweden u21 signed not given a chance by Cooper. Manning likewise. Swansea have made some serious blunders. The US people have had enough, Fulton is a brilliant player they gave him a good contract on Coopers' advice. No one else will pay him those wages so he stays put. Walsh is a great player when fit. Well he is fit and still not picked. The only player who can dink a free kick in the squad buy the looks of it. If the club make long term commitments it has to honour them. No room for Longman or O'Reilly. Both good players on big money like Fulton and Walsh were. |
Cooper played Gyorkes and sussed him out he has withered away at Coventry after his “glorious “ start Cooper also played Manning he was brought in on a free and seen as cover just keep on posting crap

Two things. A - it was £300,000 we didn't have. If you spend money you haven't got then you're not limiting your spending. B - There are no such things as guarantees in football. One bad tackle and it's game over. Celtic can take that punt. We cannot as things stand.

Manning was not bought in for a free. Wrong again. Goykeres is back in the Coventry team and firing again. Young players are like this. Look at Brewster lost for 18 months. [Post edited 1 Feb 2022 19:42]

How are loanees considered investments? We aren’t going to get promoted this season so won’t see any financial benefit from them, nor can we sell them on.

The wolf one is interesting but ultimately we need Bennett and Fultons wages off the book to make any in roads in future signings.
