From what I have seen, UK football has sent a clear message to Putin, not that he cares. I agree FIFA needs to send a strong message but Infantino got a medal from Putin so don't expect much there
There have been demos in Russia but broken up quickly and forcibly by Russian police, they go in hard on people who object to Putin.
What struck me though was the Ukrainian people's response. We have seen people on here seem to defend Russia, claims that they have an illegal government or at least that Yanukovych was illegally removed. Well when tens of thouands of civilians rush to sign up, to take up arms it tells me that they love their country and believe in their government. if they wanted rid of Zelensky (y'know, for being Neo Nazi and all that Putin and at least one on here has said) you might expect them to Welcome the Russian troops. The people though are backing Zelensky overwhelmingly and fighting for their country.
We don't need mass demos over here. Putin wouldnt care. We need the worlds governments to do everything they can to punish Russia (without resorting to Nukes) so kick them out. Every sporting body should eject them immediately. Stop all flights to and from Russia. Do everything that we can economically to make Putin stop this madness.
Just one thing though, if the worlds governments (well, China and other Russophiles won't but hey ho) do this, our prices will go up, possibly massively. petrol and gas supplies will be affected so with high prices there could also be shortages.. Fortunately we are heading into the warmer months but even so, if it was November, I say lets do it.
Lets cut Russia off as completely as possible. | |

Did you watch the cup final, plenty of support for Ukraine there and the whole stadium burst into the Liverpool anthem, YNWA, when the announcements were made. Lots of people carrying Ukrainian flags, wearing their colours.
I see FIFA have told Russia they can't play under their flag or have their anthem played, it's shocking, appalling. Infantino is too chummy with Putin.
