| Points comparison on 13:21 - Mar 22 by STID2017 | Did you actually watch the game ? Anyone there or who watched it on TV would have seen how passionless he was throughout the game. I don't know what he said to them but he may have well said nothing. For all Martin's faults, at least he shows some passion. |
I did watch it yes. He isn’t the type of manager to be remonstrating on the sidelines, not in his nature. A bit like your mate Laudrup in that respect. Did he bottle it after the Carling Cup Final? What has Martin’s passion done exactly then? Apart from getting himself booked that is. Give me winning games and a relaxed manager any day than losing with a petulant one.

Just the point though. We had a relaxed manager and no passion when the biggest prize was on offer. Beggars belief. He clearly didn't care a jot

Laudrup wasn’t ranting and raving on the sidelines when he was here with the Premier League on offer. He failed to win the League and clearly didn’t care. Right?

What would he have done differently? He picked the side as he always did, he played a defensive counter attack game as he always did…. They got a penalty after 10 mins, went 2-0 up 10mins later and we we got a man sent off on the hour mark. Are you suggesting if he wasn’t linked to Palace the ref wouldn’t have given them a penalty or sent our player off?

He wasnt in a two team shoot out for the EPL title. Or even a top six place. He did however have the drive and ambition to win the only honour we were up for winning. Plus only needed one bite at it. Unlike Cooper who to reiterate had two attempts at the play offs and failed twice Cant remember if Laudrup was ranting or not when we won the only major honour in our history. If not, then obviously didn't need to ...

it happens to the best of managers Clough failed to win the fa cup final despite getting there....what wouldhave said if Frank's had lost in his second successive play off final...at least Coopet was demonstrating improvement losing semi finalists o his first season losing finalist and higher league position on his second season whilst those he is being compared with om here have achieved?

Maybe so but at least we reached the heights then. The let down with Cooper last May when we failed to compete was so palpable. We didn't have any high to fall from any time during the game. Within 10 minutes it was clear we weren't in the game and I am sure many wished they hadn't bothered going.

In who’s view? Again show me a post if your saying you thought Coopers team was shout for a top 2 or even a play off winning ending, and we will have that conversation. If Cooper “failed” because he didn’t get unexpected promoted, then Laudrup failed because he didn’t unexpectedly win the Premier League. Can’t have it both ways. Laudrup wasn’t remonstrating on the sidelines, clearly didn’t care… right?

You are being absurb now. Laudrup team were never in touching distance of the top six of the EPL. Cooper's team were on Feb 5th 2021, 5 points behind top place with two games in hand. After that, thanks to Cooper's ineptitude they fell away and lost confidence and looked a shadow of the February team when they appeared at Wembley.

That’s not true is it. We didn’t even get a Champions League place in the end. Thanks to Laudrups demeanour and ineptitude we fell away into mid table.

Again you are comparing eggs with cheese. Our position after two games had no bearing on the argument. Cooper's team's position after 27 games did have a massive bearing on the argument. Talk sense man

It’s perfect sense. After those two games and seeing how well this team could perform my expectations changed. We should have qualified for the Champions league at least. So Laudrup failed because he dropped us down into mid table. 27 games… that’s an awful long way from the end. I’m amazed you expected promotion after just 27 games. Probably where you are going wrong.

| Points comparison on 23:37 - Mar 22 with 633 views | Dr_Parnassus | After 24 games we were only 1 point behind Liverpool and only 8 points off a potential champions league top 4 place. Such a failure to finish 15 behind them and 25 behind the top 4. Shocking really. Such a failure. | |

Let's be reasonable about this, the two can't be compared unless you live in fantasy island.

Because someone suggested that unless promoted, even when we aren’t expected to - then that is a season of failure for Swansea City. A quite ridiculous point of view. So I think it’s a perfectly valid point to raise that unless we have extreme and unexpected league success elsewhere then that is also failure, a point the poster in question of course would not like to be consistent with due to his love for all things Danish. As annoying as I’m sure it is for you, the point will continue to be made when someone suggests back to back playoff finishes is a “failure”.

They aren’t related. You don’t have to be promoted to have a successful season. Just like you don’t need Champions League qualification to have a successful season in the Premier League. If Brentford stay up, that would be a fantastically successful season for them. If Derby stay up this season it will be a fantastically successful season for them. Show me where you thought we would be promoted before the season started and I’ll listen to your point, otherwise you just continue to talk nonsense I’m afraid.

The most ridiculous posts on this forum are ones where you ask people to " show you examples" Just WTF do you think you are ? A college lecturer? The font of all knowledge? We are not completing projects, essays or a thesis. Pull your head in FFS. We all have different opinions about everything. Most posters realise that and will accept that whilst offering an opposing opinion. No one has to bring up posts, tables, etc, especially from almost 10 years ago. All you type is your opinion. Have the decency to allow others their opinion.

I’d say the most ridiculous posts are ones from people so annoyed that others have been proven right that they pretend that they expected promotion in seasons when literally nobody did just so they can pretend a manager failed. But hey, I’m sensible.

Non comparable. It could be said that Cooper was given a second chance but hadn't learnt from his previous "miss out". I won't get annoyed at someone else's opinion, it's just that, an opinion....... My view on the Brentford game was we went into it already defeated and I think Cooper already had one eye on going if/when we failed, those ingredients mixed in together was always going to see us come out flat. It should have been seen AND played as a one off cup final but again it wasn't and the preparation and mindset had a massive play in that. The first season I can pass off as what it was, a good attempt. My opinion is that you are barking up the wrong tree with the comparison as both are chalk and cheese.
