Laird is on 5k a week.. 
I would imagine we were paying it all. Even if we were only paying 3k of it, it’s not like Man Utd were going to uproot him to save 40k over half a season.
They took him off us because we were languishing down the bottom end of the table playing terrible football. They have him to Bournemouth because they were at the top end playing decent football.
Hence the need to be as high up the league as you can. |  |

Any team would struggle if they lose a handful of their better players, we faced it when Ayew, Woodman, Roberts and Guehi left.
Manning will certainly have a test on his hand next season, look at Barnsley after they lost both Mowatt and Duke from last seasons squad......its not always as black and white as it appears. | |
