Should the Senedd be Abolished on 20:57 - May 30 by Luther27
Survey’s and polls mean absolutely hee haw. I’ve personally never been asked how I feel about anything. How about a referendum for the Welsh people regarding what is a very important decision, especially in times such as these.
How do you feel about anything then ?
Drum roll …..
Beware of the Risen People

I've constantly said the same thing. Except for the "little money" thing, Wales gets enough money if it was spent properly. We get more money per head than most of England.
These polls are nearly always found to be wrong, they are often weighted, which basically means changed to suit the opinion the question setter wants to push.
The only poll that matters is the actual vote and over 53% didn't vote for anybody in the Senedd with just 10% voting for the pro indy party.
Those 18-24 year olds, how many of them actually bothered to vote and how many of them will change their minds as they get older and experience the realities that the current older generations know all too well?
Kilky is, as usual, living in cloud cuckoo land
Possibly, possibly not, the money we receive never seems to match inflation, which then means it is a real terms cut. (Although it is much the same for the rest of the UK too). I think most polls will be weighted in some way or another and even if they are not the chances of hitting a perfect demographic to get an accurate poll are pretty slim. Voter mindset does quite often change with age, this is mostly due to accumulated wealth, most by the time they are in their 40s, 50s, 60s etc have a house, family, some savings. And there vote in line with what would have as little impact on themselves as possible. The age at which voting intentions change over could be rising due to how difficult it is becoming for younger people to buy property and accumulate wealth. As much as i think Indy is the way forward I agree Indy probably is miles away, unless things change i.e scotland, n.ireland i cannot see it happening. English independence would be more likely currently.

Pretty cool sometimes but not always. Thank you for asking.
Correct me if I’m wrong but 650 MP’s cover 65 million people….roughly. That’s 1 MP per 100,000. The Senedd ratio is approx 1 member covering 50,000. I think that’s enough and there’s no need to expand.

Maybe half the MS's are to pass the laws in English and the half to pass the laws in Welsh. That is the only reason I can think of to need double the members per head compared to Westminster.

I can remember SWT having "Llanelly" as a destination.
With another 15,000 seater venue opening in Cardiff in 2024 why is the Senedd not looking into the infrastructure to enable these events to take place. We all know the main problem is the Brynglas Tunnel and the Senedd is doing nothing about it, even turning down funding from Westminster. So sort it out or stop future development, after all that is what you are supposed to be there for.

I said it earlier it will turn people off coming to Wales for events & holidays to go along with all the businesses that will not move to South Wales due to poor infrastructure.
The idiots in the Senedd (& this board) think companies will move their goods around by train & a family of 4 will spunk out the best part of £80 each to travel by train to Cardiff for a gig , that's without them getting to West Wales to holiday.
The Senedd/Drakeford slowly turning Wales into a 3rd world country.

Yet another drum I'm always banging. The Senedd has restricted powers, Westminster retains control of many things. Yet our politicians reckon they need approx twice as many per head as Westminster to be able to do their jobs properly.
How many would they need if we went indy?
It's just building a bigger gravy train so more family and friends can be given a place on the train. They are actually admitting to us they aren't good enough and need more MS's than MP's to do less of a job.

Plus I believe Drakeford the first minister for Wales is on about £148K a year. Johnson Prime minister for the UK is on about £161K a year, less than 10% difference. Leaving political bias out of this it doesn't seem right.

I think both Westminster and the Senedd have massive problems with how MPs and MSs are elected, both will not be a representive system for how votes are cast.
The new MSs and electoral process does almost nothing to add more representation.
I just wish we could do away with party politics, it is archaic and is a huge stumbling block to true democracy.

Scottish Parliament - 1 member per 46,000. Ni Assembly - 1 member per 17,000.
Just thought i'd mention it.

The problem is Cardiff thinks it's a major city but isn't. It doesn't even crack the top fifteen most populated urban areas in the UK.
Having a 70,000+ stadium right in the middle of a relatively small urban area with appropriate mass transit was asking for trouble. All well and good having loads of pubs nearby, but good luck getting away from the place or finding a hotel room without getting gouged. It just can't handle the kind of crowds it thinks it can. Different story if it was Manchester, Liverpool or London, but it's not.
The Brynglass Tunnel/M4 problem is another matter entirely. It's one the Senedd needs to sort before pouring even more millions in to encourage Cardiff's inflated sense of self worth.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It wasn't an argument one way or another. It was simply for context after the comparison with the number of MP's at Westminster.
Why make a comparison if it wasn't for a reason? The context is what? Purely that they have more? Has having more been a good thing for them? I say no but then, I believe in small government.
