Thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that A good insight into his mindset , I know it as words but he came across as a genuinely decent guy with a love for the Club

Totally agree. I thoroughly enjoyed the interview. It is clear for all to see how all 3 of our managers in recent years have shown their total trust in Matt. Very articulate and portrays leadership qualities in abundance off the field. Call me old fashioned though but I prefer my captains to be a bit more vociferous on the field. Yes I'm probably just a dinosaur.

Yes you're probably right. Too often we base our opinions on a 90 minute game of football. So much more to consider throughout the week on and off the field.

Agree there are many ways to show leadership , some respond to kick a up the back side , others not so . He knows the group far better than I but I would sometimes I'd like to see a bit more hwyl from him. but maybe that's just his nature

He gets a very good living out of us. He is captain, incredibly.
Nobody seems to want to make offers for him,in the way they have for other.

Serious question but did you watch it, ? we all have our opinions on players but sometimes a bit of insight into the individual mindset can be educational and provide a better understanding as to why they play a certain way

How much money have you contributed towards Grimes' wages then?
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

"He gets a very good living out of us".
This is not a good way of thinking and in fact is a little simplistic. A child with sweets will look at things in numerical terms and personal benefits. As you get older you look at thinks more holistically. A gift here can have long term benefits. The "on the house" always gets me as I do not have an entitlement mentality.
HJ and co (the sellouts) are decried from doing well out of the club but the earned it as a group and deserve to be wealthy. Only a fool would begrudge them and there are plenty of them on here. A toxic group think.
The word 'US' is also suspect. It can apply to Trust members as they are technically owners. Fans who are not owners are loyal long term customers in actuality. I like going to Costa coffee but do not call them us. They give me freebees with my loyalty card.
Not having other clubs offering money for your players is not a criteria for value. Routledge Fabianski, Tate, Britton, Dyer club stalwarts were never linked with other clubs but are still highly valued and among Swansea greats. Britton left but was actually forced out. Rangel had some minor interest at one time but signed a new deal. A Swansea legend. He only left when Swansea told him to go. One of Swansea best up there with Hadziabdic. Bought for £30,000 and never sold. A £5m+ footballer without doubt.

All the very best team captains I played under had one thing in common - they led by example; they put the work in and we followed. They did not need to shout and scream to make a point - a thunderous stare was worth a thousand words. We have a captain who fits that template perfectly - long may we be able to keep him.

With respect,Grimes is hardly one with a stare. He is not,in my opinion, one to inspire as our performances prove when we have capitulated entirely. He is no leader ,in my opinion, whatsoever. Clearly a pleasant chap but I would rather a more full on captain.

Highlights how much difference it makes if you have actually played the game or not.

Not really. It simply shows we have different opinions. Ive been in teams of various sports and the better captains are the more vocal ,passionate, brave etc.One to raise spirits.Ive no idea as to what teams you have played and Ive no wish to get into personal spat.

Doesn't it just. Especially if you've played CM.
Utterly convinced the vast majority of Forumites haven't properly kicked a ball.
They're mostly frustrated no-hopers, not even wannabees. The types that were almost always last to be picked in line on the school playground.
A proper perspective is a healthy perspective........

Please don't underestimate me AC. I stand by every word. Whether you and others disagree changes nothing. You're perpetual dismissive comments about Downes shows that you own opinion could be flawed. Downes is the one that has attracted interest from a Prem League club ;Grimes the Great is unwanted by others it seems.
One doesn't HAVE to have been a "great" player;True.

Wasn't referring to you mun (but I can see why you may have thought so,apols)
Referring to the likes of overly rotund Winstone - undoubtedly the last pick, in so many ways. Never kicked a ball he could see.
Grimesy commanding and controlling with aplomb, without Downs in the way.
