The wife of Carmarthen East MP Jonathan Edwards who was assaulted by him is shocked and appalled at Plaid Cymru’s decision to return the whip to him and welcome him back to the party. Mr Edwards previously accepted a caution for the assault on his wife, issued a public apology and attended an educational course about domestic violence.
Once again a person in public office has committed a fairly serious and deeply unpleasant offence and yet is allowed to still ‘serve’ as an MP. And by restoring the whip is Plaid Cymru complicit in condoning these sorts of offences?

Edwards committed a crime and has been dealt with via the criminal justice system. He’s admitted his guilt, taken his punishment and he should be allowed to rehabilitate himself and get on with his life, but in my opinion he should not be allowed to continue an MP. Anybody who commits a criminal offence should be disqualified from being an MP. Obviously it has to be something serious, nt a speeding ticket or parking fine.
Any sitting MP who's found guilty of breaking the law should be automatically deselected and a bye election called.
They should be held to higher standards. We have allowed standards to slip so far we ended up with, well Bojo and his chorts. I wouldn't trust them to be school governors let alone run the country. | |

What is also true is the tories gave billions away to fraudulent companies who didn't provide what was needed, they know billions was wrongly handed out but they aren't trying to reclaim it meanwhile they hound people on benefits if they owe a few hundred.
Hell the DWP hounded me for 4 years for money I didn't even owe until I had enough and told them straight, NO, take me to court ottherwise if you come back to me again over this I'll take you to court for harassment. Not heard anything since.
It wasn't only lefties out clapping mind. Plenty of people who aren't lefty appreciated what the NHS have done. They could have done more if they hadn't been let down badly by succesive governments over the last 60 years, that includes the Senedd who are even worse than the tories have been in England. | |
