| The Penalty 11:04 - Aug 14 with 4347 views | Thrasher6 | Having seen it back this morning.....it was never a penalty. Darling never touched him. The ref was staring straight at it....and didn't hesitate. It seems we always get the rough end of the stick with these decisions.....although you could argue that the standard of refereeing is to blame and nothing to do with bias towards us. | |

| The Penalty on 09:28 - Aug 15 by jack247 | From my perspective, it’s now linked to supporting the football club (see YJB chants for numerous players with no prior connection to the area). Using Elis James as an example, I’d consider someone from West Wales who goes home and away whenever he can, far more of a Jack than someone from the Sandfields who supports Liverpool or Man Utd. Appreciate that’s not how the term originated. |
Fair Someone from Fleet St does NOT support Liverpool or Man Utd. They are brand followers. I find them hard to handle frankly and they are one of the few body of people I would avoid.

| The Penalty on 07:52 - Aug 15 by jack247 | Absolutely correct, but only tells half a story. If all you want is certainty over whether decisions are correct, then watch every game on tv. If you want to see patterns of play and have a holistic overview of what’s going on, rather than the small square following the ball, then watching live is the better option. The whole atmosphere and camaraderie, which is obviously a different argument, is for me at least, a big part of following your local team. A mixture of both, which I’m lucky enough to have, suits me fine. As an aside, I think the Championship probably merits VAR, which would eliminate this issue. |
Patterns of play again I think is better from the armchair, the angles you are forced to watch from are often extremely misleading to give a false picture of what is actually occurring. It’s very rarely a “small square” as imagined. Almost everything game play wise is better at home, what isn’t is vastly outweighed by what is. Whenever I watch a game at the venue I’m always thinking “I’d like to look at that again when I watch it on TV”, usually because I’m not entirely sure what happened when live. So many people have “just got back” from a game and don’t even know roughly how many shots we had in each half. Atmosphere etc then yes absolutely going to a game is better.

That’s sometimes the case with away games, as it’s pot luck where you sit and you’re often put in a corner in a lower tier. Saturday was another example, as the view would have been fine, had they not had pillars supporting the stand. I’ve deliberately gone for a season ticket near the back of the stand for that reason. It gives me a great holistic view of what’s going on. It without doubt better than TV. It’s down to personal choice. Where practical, I’d always rather be at the game, but yes I’m rarely going to be as informed on penalty decisions, offsides etc.

In my 30 years watching the game I don’t think I’ve ever thought I have a better view than on the TV. More enjoyable sure, but it often leaves you wanting to watch it again. Not just key decisions, but the all round game play. I remember STID and co came back from a game and I had to prove to them how many shots and how more attacking we were in the second half than the first, they were convinced it was the opposite.

Long time since you came back from a Swans game. Had Scott Sinclair scored his hat trick to get us into the EPL when you were watching us ?

| The Penalty on 22:12 - Aug 15 with 826 views | TenbySwan | VAR is coming to the Championship . A big extension is being built at Stockley Park to give them the capacity to cover two divisions. Not this season though. Possibly not the start of next but you never know | | | |

I'm pleased tto hear it. I hated VAR at first, but I've been converted. We could have certainly benefitted from it in recent times.
