Committees standards should be very interesting. Be fascinated to see what Lord Pannick QC’s brief asked him to advise on and how they can justify a £150,000 brief fee

The most contemptible cow had her comeupance . We are suffering for her time as Home Sec,to this day. To say to Police officers at annual conference …You re crying Wolf,Police always do.,just about sums her up |

Exactly, and she's going to have sh*t of every kind thrown at her, no matter what she does. And it's already started by some on this thread, minutes after her becoming PM.

Truss has been in cabinet since around 2012, she is not a new comer. Her performance whenever under scrutiny has been woeful, she dodged any real interviews during the leadership campaign (can you imagine, Cameron, Major or Thatcher doing that ?) She keeps changing her position to suit the majority, Lib Dim, anti Brexit, pro Brexit, hard Brexit. She told Rory Stewart that she could not imagine anything worse than being Foreign Secretary before of course, becoming FS. Many people are basing their opinions on her history not an unknown person.

Come on Sir, you'd say similar about any Conservative becoming PM. She's PM, whether you like her or not, give her a chance for goodness sake.

It's not even history, she is coming up with ludicrous proposals as we speak. Lets freeze energy bills and have the consumer pay it back over 10 years. Not for one second considering that maybe prices don't go down. Or maybe it has been considered and she just doesn't care. She has a track record of being a bit of a thick liability and has proven it numerous times, but what the heck lets give good ol Trussy a chance.

I wouldn't I'm not particularly anti tory or pro labour. I'm stuck in the middle. Tom Tugenhat would have been a good choice, I'm a big fan of Johnny Mercer, Tobias Ellwood. David Gauke. Rory Stewart is a man of great dignity who saw what Johnson was and called him out. My Tory MP, William Wragg is excellent and a very decent man. May and Cameron were flawed but inherently honourable and did not, especially with Cameron worry that the UK was a laughing stock around the world. You look at recent history and do think surely we have better than Corbyn Johnson and Truss. I cannot understand why Sunak was not elected, he would have been by far and away the better choice but a country mile and much more of a threat to Labour. Personally, I think they should have gone for someone completely separate from Johnson's cabinet. If she has any sense, she won't have JRM or the like anywhere near her I agree that Truss probably has a poisoned chalice and I don't believe for a second Labour actually want a General Election at the moment. Add Ben Wallace to that list, he'd have been very good

Sunak wasn't elected because the party members didn't want him. Probably a bit too honest over the whole "let's not cut taxes whilst the govt is giving money out hand over fist". Although having said that, the members weren't too enthusiastic about Truss either. I suspect that if it had been a straight membership vote, even if it took two or three rounds to get down to a final two, Badenoch probably would have won. Either her or Mordaunt.

You think JRM will help them win the election? Do you think he’s relatable, especially in places like the Red Wall or do you think he’s part of the stereotypical elitist view of the Tory party ? Do you think people like him understand people struggling to get by day by day ?

Sunak was by far the better candidate, had sensible proposals and is clearly an intelligent bloke. But Tories care more about their own wallets than anything else. And thats exactly what Truss promised, no more wealth redistribution and erosion of workers rights.

Labour will be absolutely delighted, with Sunak, PMQs would’ve been very interesting and not an easy ride for Starmer. There’s a new podcast called Newsagents with Emily Maitlis, they interview her old Uni professor, he said she often came out with wacky ideas and would stick to them.

It is either extremely brave or political suicide. He is exactly what we do not want to see in Government as he is perceived ,rightly or wrongly,to be on the 19th Century where young girls went into service whilst their parents worked 14 hours a day the the factory. A man who looks and sounds ridiculous to anyone not of his social circle. I would love to buy him a drink though and have a chat.

I think a lot of people are ignoring the elephant in the room when it comes to Sunak not winning the race. I won’t elaborate.

A lot of people seem to be seeing an elephant that isn't there when the overwhelming majority of polls of party members suggested that a black woman was the preferred candidate.
