I have to show respect. 13:55 - Sep 13 with 3709 viewsReslovenSwan1

British football is getting increasing political and forcing fans to "show respect" for all sorts of things. The list is getting bigger and the commitment required is increasing.

- i lost £150 going to Birmingham "showing respect" MANDATORY

- I have to "show respect" to fallen soldiers every November 11 for about two week. MANDATORY

- I have to "show respect" the GSTK. If I did not would most likely be punched. MANDATORY

- I have to respect "taking the knee along with a black fist salute". I not know what it is about but I have to show respect apparently. It was originally related to the murder of a criminal junkie somewhere in the USA MANDATORY.

I was given abuse by my Welsh nationalist mate at the Millenium stadium "giving respect"
when Princess Margaret died. I had no respect for her at all.

This is football no place for respect. That is why I am £150 out of pocket.

I wear a poppy myself on occasions and donate but it is not mandatory outside football and sport. I could of course chose not to go.

I think I understand now why the Op is so adverse about being called a sheep botherer , the perpetrators must have recognised him by the sound of his contiunor s bleating , talk about making yourself a target

99.9% of planet earth feel insulted about being called a sheep botherer. I have travelled nd n know this. Two leeds fans were killed in Istanbul for their mild banter in 1999. The Arabs in Qatar will not take any nonsense either. I am not your normal Welsh football fan. They dance to the tune of racist English pipers.

There was no need for you to lose £150 then, you missed the football that's all. You should have found something else to do in Birmingham, its a great city.

I doubt 100,000 people were more than slightly disappointed rather than upset. The games aren't cancelled they're just delayed for a bit.

I also very much doubt the Royal Family gave two hoots about the games happening or not they had more important things to worry about. There was no royal decree and this isn't the 1500's.

I would personally be annoyed if someone booed or disrespected anything to do with my family. Its nobody else's business though, I certainly wouldn't punch anyone but who booed the anthem, I would think they were a disrespectful moron though.

Would you boo GSTQ or GSTK if you were standing next to Mike Tindall?

This isn't about the Queen or England it's a matter of common decency.

Mike Tindall is another having a great life on my tax payments. I did find other things to do I had no choice. I am sure he would smack me in them mouth if I spoke out of turn about his granny in law. He knows where is bread is buttered.

The booing at Wrexham and Liverpool were the direct result of FA mismanagement and treating the fans like second class citizens. Cricket authorities were more sympathetic to the stakeholders.

If I had freedom of speech and objected to the action carried out on behalf of the Queen I would have been beaten up. I had no choice but to show respect It was not a option.

They are not all cap doffers in north east Wales and Liverpool. Here is a statement from Wrexham.

"To have the club’s name in the media this morning for all the wrong reasons is not a scenario that should have occurred and we wish to apologise to all who were offended by the actions of the minority, while thanking the vast majority who did observe the one-minute silence.

"A number of the individuals who disturbed the one-minute silence were asked to leave the Racecourse Ground for their own safety."

Thinking out loud earlier today when posting on this type of topic, I may have missed it but all the times Liverpool booed GSTQ over many years I don't recall Liverpool apologising, yet other teams do apologise if their supporters are deemed to have done something wrong.
Some Liverpool fans booing a minutes silence this time in honour of the dead Queen and still no apology from Liverpool football club not that I have heard of anyway.

I keep saying I haven't heard of because I find it incredible they would not appolgise, so I keep thinking I must have missed it, previously booing the nation anthem in honour of the Queen was not one or two fans either it seemed like thousands of them booing at those different Wembley finals.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

I would be amazed if Zara Phillips or Mike Tindall get or need any cash from the royal or taxpayers purse. They're pretty successful in their own right being world class sports people.

How do you know the booing at Wrexham and Liverpool were the result of a protest at FA mismangement? Cricket matches were also postponed on the Friday. They started on the Saturday and the postponed football matches will happen again. It was a symbolic gesture. It may have been a minor inconvenience but that's the rub of the green unfortunately.

You have freedom of speech and didn't need to demonstrate respect, you could have stayed outside until the minutes silence was over, you could have gone and stood in the concourse. Those who actively made a noise during the minutes silence demonstrated disrespect, that probably wouldn't offend me personally but I'd think very little of them.

That is what this is about, nobody forces you to respect anyone under any circumstances, however some people may take exception to those who demonstrate disrespect. I would if it was directed at my family, but it's uncalled for in most circumstances.

Free rent at Gatcombe park (The impressive Grade II-listed property sits within a 730-acre estate between the villages of Minchinhampton and Avening in Gloucestershire). Given as a gift from the Queen who is supported by my taxes.

Zara spin offs are massive from sponsorships linked to Royal status. Its a good life for Mike. Zara would not make much without Royal connections. Expenses and of course no inheritance tax when HRH Anne passes.

I was shocked to see England playing on Saturday when the football was banned. It is a class issue. Swansea fans demonstrated they accept being badly treated. They have low self esteem and "own" racial abuse and actually engage in it.

The point I am making is I am increasingly asked to show respect for all sorts of things. BLM for example. If I disturbed the Queens 1 minute I would have got a kicking. If I disturbed the BLM gestures I would have been called a fascist an maybe got a kicking.

The press see thing differently to you.. Apparently 'the Swansea fans showed their respect' for the Queen and BLM by not objecting. It is respect by default. Show respect or get a kicking. This happened with BLM as well.

So Mike and Zara don't get any cash from the royals then.

Postponements weren't a class issue for crying out loud both the St Leger and Rugby were postponed there is nothing more upper class than that.

Postponements didn't treat fans badly, just inconvenienced some slightly. There are probably a few who are now able to make games they couldn't have otherwise made.

The Swans fans didn't demonstrate they accepted being treated badly they made a gesture to remember the queen, I did and that's as far as I will go.

Being asked to show respect isn't making it mandatory, you'd only be abused if you disrespected that particular issue. If you ignored it nothing would happen.

Anyway, the football is small beer in all this. I'd be livid if my medical appointment was cancelled on Monday.

There are many of Irish and Welsh decent in Liverpool,Wirral and Deeside;it is not and never has been a hotbed of Monarchy that rural Devon or Norfolk ,for example ,are.
There is a rebelious spirit in many families that has been passed down.

It is a very different part of England to say Kent or Suffolk or Hampshire.

Of course they get very significant benefits from Grannie and Mummy who are in the pubic purse. Also free board and lodge for life from the same taxpayer source.

Welsh professional rugby (working class) was postponed, English rugby less working class went ahead. England (and Wales) cricket was not affected.

Postponement treated me very badly. I heard of it on the bus to Birmingham. My hotel had a 48 hour notice. There was no need to postpone but they did anyway. Liverpool and Wrexham fans expressed their disgust. Good for them.

I have no respect for either the Monarchy or the BLM. People who shut up for 60 seconds are not necessarily showing respect. The silence in mandatory for fear of physical violence. I argue there are too many of these gestures.

I m glad you see my point over these unnecessary and damaging Royal obligations. Others include loss of income for businesses such as the bar I went to on Saturday night. Many people had much of 2020 off on furlough.

The PM, Starmer and the Royal Family were there. Police presence would’ve been huge.

"People who shut up for 60 seconds are not necessarily showing respect."

That's right, and exactly what I've been saying all along. So you don't "have" to show respect and its not "mandatory".

The Friday Rugby matches were postponed - this isn't a class issue it was a football leagues decision. It's minor in the grand scheme of things.

I'd rather lose £150 than a hospital appointment. Get over it.

Sadly some of the 1000 s with postponed operations will also have to as you put "get over it". There may even be some who do not "get over it".

Only perhaps a dozen or so with no access to private health.
