That walking football got us back from being 2 down yesterday.
Individual errors without the ball yesterday cost us 3 points......reality is, we need to cut these errors out. Combine the age of the back 3 yesterday and you will glaringly see what Martin is working with. May I add because I know what you will think after you do the age count, Martin has to get in young to develop hopefully for the teams benefit but mainly to sell on for profit.
We cut those errors out and that possession football gets us 3 points yesterday.
Stop talking sense on here as its futile, im fed up off the cr4p that is spouted by some fans? Kids are making schoolboy errors and a lack of concentration yesterday cost us dearly, to blame the coach set piece or otherwise is pathetic. The players know when they have ballsed it up along with the coaching staff, for example Darling has cost us dearly lately but i think there is a good footballing CH there and development and building is better than dropping or benching. But some on here think that players like Grimes are holding us back, I have said before on here we will never ever be able to replace him if we let him go.
No, I was talking about the wingers attacking down a flank, taking players on. Not so much the John Toshacks in the box. Sorry, didn’t make it clear.
We need width, we need pace. Yesterday Wigan attacked us that way and the space we gave them to do so was criminal.
Oko-Flex looks to be able to do that but we saw what happened to him.
Yes, I agree with that. We need the likes of Oxo-Flex, but we need him to be positionally aware and do the off the ball work too. With and without possession.
There’s no doubt he causes panic, makes defenders come to him and opens up time and space for teammates, which should be a critical component of the way Martin is trying to play. He was out of position quite often, but I was still disappointed he didn’t come back out for the second half, as I thought the positives outweighed that.

He found space on numerous occasions but the ball just went backwards.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

I mean drawing players to him, so there is more space inside for the likes of Cooper, Grimes, Allen when they are playing to try to create something or Ntcham to drive at a less organised defence.

That walking football was why were 2 down and struggling to get the first goal back. Playing thse players out of position, Cooper on the wing? How can we justify constantly playing players away from their best position?
Cooper has been a revelation in the middle, a bundle of energy that has driven us forward, he was wasted on the wing.
Lati is no wing back but to play in Martin's team you have to say nothing and do as you are told, it seems. Also, why give Lati the armband, why not Fulton? Lati is no leader, in my opinion.
Yes the back 3 are young in general terms but Cabango is experienced and darling has played quite a few games himself, then we have lati and Manning, the latter isn't young so again, why give lati the armband if youth is a problem?
Wigan have been very poor but we had to fight back to get a draw, we struggled to break them down and several times there were boos from the east as we passed sideways and backwards when a forward pass was on.
Yesterday wasnt good enough but who does Martin blame? Apparently the players didn't listen to the fine detail. It wasnt to do with tactics and selection, the players didn't listen.

We conceded the goals from set pieces, as soon as we go 2 nil down after 15 minutes then we were going to see a lot of the ball and our possession was going to be high.
Walking football had nothing, absolutely nothing with us conceding 2 goals from a corner.
Not many teams will come back from being 2 nil down to grab a point.....we did it aided by the subs and changes made. I admit that I thought the changes were baffling but they helped us to get a point that was never on once we went 2 down.
The only thing I could say with Lati as captain, he has experience of being a captain......in quite high intensity matches so I can see the decision behind but I wouldn't necessarily picked him as captain myself.
There will always be boos when patience is being lost......football fans are very fickle and a lot very impatient.
Martin of course deserves fingers pointed at him, after yesterday so does the set piece coach aswell as the players.

Well maybe, if we had started off at a running pace we wouldn't have conceded the set pieces because Wigan were first to every loose ball the first 20. They outran us, outworked us and pushed hard while we were so slow to react.
Walking football isn't just about attacking, we were slow to react defebsively which may just be why the mstakes were made, a bit of panic set in and bang, mistake.......bang, mistake and we are 2 down.

Defensively we allowed them so much space it was amateurish.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

I still dont get it that our manager/coach who spent his professional years as a player as a defender cannot get us to hear cohesive defensive unit when needed
We leave too much space. Playing 3 men defensive we give wingers time and space to attack. For example Rangel Angel would not want a skillful, fast winger to have the ball at his feet for fear of being ran at and turned and yet we expect 6 foot plus centreback to deal with with the same thing. Rangel would try and stop the winger having it to feet by closely marking them and if the ball is put in behind him he would have cover from the center. So to counter the winger you would have to have your centreback out on the wings leaving us short in the middle. We are not set up properly defensively to protect the wings and teams have exploited it time and time again.

My belief is they aren’t good enough in such a structured system.

Turning average players into very good players takes time, some are simply never going to be good enough.
Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Those who can do, those who can't teach.....maybe defenders can't teach defending?
Whatever happens, we cannot keep deending like that and hope to win games. How many times has our poor defence been exploited? How many games have we been lucky or thrown points away?

or mabe cant coach.....itneresting fact that about teachers if you look at Rugby foe example some of the best coaches were themselves teachers Carwyn James, Graham Henry they knew how to get the message across
So many on here keep coming back and blaming the players stating they arent good enough.
Or aren't technically competent to play Martins way......well a good manager utilises his reosurces to the best he can maybe he needs to adapt to use the players strengths I'm fed of of the excuses made for him Yesterday was yet another example of his tactical ineptitude, LAti as captain?, Cooper on the wing? Taking off our most threatening player in Oki Flex?
Yes we recovered to get a draw and if Piroe and Cooper had been a little sharper we could have won it ,,,,but that would have been lucky

Part of that problem being our "wing backs" are so high up the pitch most of the time that they can't defend, when the oppo break they are often already behind our wing backs and bearing down on our centre backs.

The way we are set up should we should have a wingback, two midfielders one attacking and one defensive and one of our centrebacks that's 4 players if the ball goes to the flanks who should stop the opposition players from having any options open to them, The centre forward, the two other midfielders and middle centreback should also crowding out the centre of the pitch. The other wingback and centreback guarding the opposite side if play is quickly switch but they must be close to the opposite flank players to make the switch not viable. If they don't work together and get closer to players they have time and space to bypass the press, it even seems as if we are sprinting full pelt to close people down but we are too far away to start with and a simple moving of the ball enables the player to go past them as they cannot stop and turn. On the flanks seems as if Wolf, Laird and Christie all got burnt out last year, and even Manning has come a cropper ending up with the hamstring injury this year, with the team not been organised enough to condense the play to our advantage
Ah wingers weve had our share, broke my heart when willie Humphries was released, and we have had a great bunch that followed Evans Moore, Conway, a converted Bartley .Lennie, James , ..........
Yesterday we gift 2 goals to a team looking for some kind of result , so 2 up away from home, park the bus , just sit back. tough game for wingers, maybe that's why he was replaced.

And yet his attacking play enabled the goal before half time.

Martin said he was subbed because of his work rate off the ball, not good enough apparently.

Scapegoat his movement was instrumental in getting us a goal, if we score two more early in the second half by all means sub him to strengthen the defence. Change for change sake didn't need changing at half time
Prepared to turn with the ball on the edge of the box instead of playing "safe" ball back to whoever, instead drew defender into challenge and luckily ball fell to Manning as he pushed on into the box. You make your own luck.
