Glad the top sides are getting through Holand v Argentina will be a good game. Hopefully Brazil Spain Portugal and Croatia will make it as well. [Post edited 4 Dec 2022 21:23]

| Senegal v England on 20:48 - Dec 4 by union_jack | Yet some will still find excuses as to why France were not at their best (nothing to do with England of course) or it was the wrong time of day or poor refereeing decisions or crowd too loud / quiet. You know who they’ll be😠|
Its how i saw it fella, Senegal were poor, england didnt have to go above and aboard to win the game, just admit you want england to win UJ, you just can't stand any welsh not fawning over them.

I’ve made no secret on here that I support England. I just think some posters are not giving credit when it’s due is disappointing though not unexpected (I didn’t put you in that bracket!). They’ve played reasonably well to date. Last night would have been more difficult if Senegal had taken their early chances though I still believe England would have won. Saturday? That’s going to be a different proposition altogether and one in which England are going to have to be at their very best to win. Personally, I think France will edge it. However, it would be nice to see them get credit if they do overcome France because they’ll have to work for it.

I give credit when it's due, england haven't played anyone that will test them yet, Senegal were all over the place and they didnt have to play well to beat them, they werent put under any pressure, I just wish we had their group we might have had a better chance of getting through but with page at the helm I doubt it. If england beat france on saturday it will most probably be because they played well and better than france, the quarter finals are all going to be nip and tuck, a bit magic, luck or a mistake will be the difference in all 4 games, its going to be great.

Union. It’s because you are a fair minded ,objective poster that sees you get crap which fireboy shows is all over this site. Let’s let forget that. Fawning my 4 skin. Is that where we are now,a nation let down by a clown coach with ott and injured players taken to make a nation feel proud ,one that sings an anthem ,then to show how truly dire we are when it all comes down to it. We wheel out a 78 yr old flock singer to ramp up the anti English feeling and even have kids in school sing it. I dont support England in any way,as I would not Cardiff City,a fellow welsh side. I wouldn’t have a drink with them either Wales or not. That England are obviously so strong is choking many Welsh and even if they lose to France they will still be way bette than Wales. The reaction on here when they lose to France will be more joyous than if we were to have beaten Iran . Look at the state we re in

I certainly hope England win, and iwould want any home Nation to beat a Foreign team, I might be Welsh but I'm also British. Like you I think it will be close but France might just edge it

I'd like to see England get to the semis then get knocked out, I have no hate towards England but the media coverage after would fry me. As I have said in other threads I believe England have the best squad in the tournament.

Where I think France may edge it, is if Mbappe runs at the central defence. Senegal showed if you run at them with pace you can get through. Biggest regret is Wales not doing it with James and Johnson, its all well and good pace out wide, but central defenders don't like you running at them.

I thought Senegal were poor for most of last nights game they weren't the Senegal of old, harassing and pressing hard and attacking with pace.

Agreed they were poor although they had more shots at goal than England, but less on target. I still feel where they had England in any trouble was when they ran at the central defence. England were far superior but Senegal had chances but finished poorly. I don't believe Mbappe will miss those chances.

Agree with most of that. It’s difficult to understand how so many people on here can’t see how good England can be with the squad that they have. The game with France could go either way, England has the strength in most positions (Maguire & Shaw the weak points). France has some excellent players and Mbappe. Normally I would be confident that it’s all gonna end in tears but right now I am dreading the media frenzy if they beat France

Good post. I always enjoy a good England car crash like the rest of the world, but unfashionable boring old Gareth Southgate is making a difference. The England squad is not as good as the Beckham era man for man, but Sven screwed them up. France will win 9 times out of 10 though.
