Its a joke, although if its anything to do with my lad they are good in fairness, but his brother mother and me can wait |

| Now Ambulance crew voting to strike on 13:01 - Dec 7 by Dr_Winston | People should be Triaged at the door. If they're not there for an accident or an emergency (clue is in the name) they should be turned away before even getting inside. Mind you, GP's need a rocket up the arse as well. They've been on go-slow for about fifteen years, worse since Covid kicked in. |
I went in August to Morriston after a self induced football injury. Was triaged in a relatively short time and advised to go to Baglan as long waiting time at Morriston. Where I was treated within about an hour or so. Can't fault the staff who work for the NHS. Waiting times etc are not down to them. Government cut backs will eventually kill the NHS. Then we will be like the US, where people die without treatment as they can't afford it.

Sorry if you're that dull its hard to explain
| Now Ambulance crew voting to strike on 18:06 - Dec 8 with 609 views | britferry | Stumbled across an article about the Ambulance crews striking: Two years later, and the general burnout among NHS staff and paramedics continues. Much of the backlogs highlighted in elective care are also reflective of the state of my field. When I first started in the service, we’d attend anywhere between seven and ten patients in a single shift. Now, a lack of staffing, beds and infrastructure means that ambulances often become an extension of A&E, with crews having to stay with patients for as long as ten hours. It means that we’re not always there to help others in dire need. This isn’t the fault of the ambulance service, crews on the road or the hospitals — this way of operating just isn’t safe for anyone: both staff and patients. Doing what we do, in the conditions we do it in — for 12, sometimes even 16 hours per shift — is it any wonder that staff are leaving the NHS in record numbers? With the deteriorating state of our hospitals an open secret, it should come as no surprise that, despite there being 133,000 vacancies in the health service, the NHS is struggling to recruit. As an institution, the health service is bleeding out. My colleagues and I haven’t taken the decision to strike lightly. We just want a fair wage from what we put in, and to contribute to a service that is healthy on all fronts. Unfortunately, the current government’s problematic and chronic underfunding of the NHS is only compounded by its refusal to listen to the concerns unions are raising about how unsustainable its current way of operating is. Politicians were happy to and quick enough to engage with us when it was easy for them: smiling and clapping for us during the pandemic. But when push comes to shove, and difficult paths to improve the NHS need to be forged, it seems more smoke and mirrors than anything meaningful. So, until they engage with us and the striking nurses, along with our other colleagues across the health service, we’ll keep on pushing for better — for our sake, for your sake, and for the sake of the NHS. https://www.newstatesman.com/s | |

Unril the British people stand up and be counted in tbis argument, what will change? Sunak is pushing to change the law to limit strike action but that is obscene, in my opinion. Never mind having more politicians, never mind spending on Nuclear weapons, do something to preserve the NHS for us all to have that safety net for the future.

The worst bit is that they are more than willing to pay for agency workers at 2 to 2.5x what they are paying for a permanent member of staff. Its absolutely ludicrous. As ive said before, the NHS can be fixed there just isn't a desire to do so. The politicians and the media are not there fighting in the interest of the people, they fight for billionaires and their profit margins.

and many of them are the NHS staff working overtime... so just pay them a proper wage with a decent overtime and cut out the agency

We need more capacity- build it. We need more staff - pay for tuition & a decent wage. It's not rocket science, why nlt cut the defence budget or trident or maybe the shoddy bit of railway between London and Birmingham.

If there were sufficient trained nurses and working conditions weren’t so difficult there wouldn’t be gaps in need of covering. Generally, NHS overtime for nurses is paid at the standard rate unless it’s on the weekend or nights when enhancements are paid. Agency is different because a nurse’s permanent employing trust/authority will not allow a nurse to work an agency shift in their permanent employers trust, any agency work has to take place elsewhere. A nurse in Llanelli can’t work an agency shift in Hywel Dda, but they could work one in Swansea or Port Talbot. Reducing the number of Trusts could reduce opportunities for agency work, but a lot of the time of the people doing agency work are doing it to make ends meet. [Post edited 8 Dec 2022 21:41]

A political revolution has never been needed as much has its needed now, this lot just doing what they want, its a fing dictatorship not a democracy Sunak don't want people protesting/striking about their earnings and working conditions, so he's trying to change the Law, despicable slimeball, like the rest in Downing St. They want a Medical system like the US because they can put their fat grubby fingers into that pie as well, its all about greed nothing else.

Underfund and degrade a public service, make it unusable and deride it in the press. Force people into private healthcare and show there isn't really a need for the NHS as private is better. Thats how they tend to do it with most public services isn't it? Sunak was already swanning around courting US healtcare firms before he took to No.10, its clear where his priorities lie.

| Now Ambulance crew voting to strike on 18:49 - Dec 7 by BryanSwan | Are you blaming the staff that are constantly swamped for being unable to provide a timely service? I have had need of A&E services and the staff have been absolutely fantastic, do not blame them, it's the corrupt MPs and MSs that are doing this. |
No, not blaming the ones on the ground, the front line, but whoever is/was responsible for putting us in this position.

Surely an expert like you could explain it to me. You seem to know everything.. Listen I will say it one more time, I needed stitches, the only place open was A&E at Morriston, it wasn't as if I didn't need treatment, I only walked out, because of the wait. I suppose the only real alternative these days, once it get's past 11 o'clock is to wait until the morning, and go up to Port Talbot one, but you are quite annoying when you have not got any clue to the extent of my injury, to say I didn't need treatment, put it this way quite a few were gobsmacked when I walked back in the house, and said I'm not waiting all that time., and perhaps the scars I was left with, not having them stitched, would have been a little less.
