Cardiff City transfer embargo 14:24 - Dec 17 with 4463 viewsKeithHaynes

For not paying the first instalment of the Sala money, so sad all of this.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said: "It's a technical embargo, there are lots of legal discussions going on and those will continue to take place.

"We are pretty confident of being able to negotiate our way through this. It's irrelevant anyway until January 1, when the transfer window opens, and we are working hard to find an amicable resolution by then. We are working hard to resolve this in the interest of the club."

Asked if he was worried about not being able to buy new players in January, Dalman said: "We would like to bring in a few additions, but my conversations with Mark Hudson is to carry on planning as normal. We are hoping this is a temporary embargo, not permanent. But the manager believes there is enough quality in the team anyway to compete at this level."

How many transfer windows do you have to miss not to pay 15 million?

Is there any other punishment?

The way this season is panning out they’ll finish above us in the league.

Well they were confident they'd win the Sala case. Hudson thinks there's enough quality in the squad....hmm. They are just lucky the Championship is a complete pile of horse schitt this season.

As are we mind.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Quite right too. Why should they be allowed to go out and buy players whilst simultaneously refusing to pay for a player they signed four years ago (almost)? And why would any selling club agree any deal not knowing whether they are going to stick to the agreement or not?

They should be put under a transfer embargo indefinitely until they start paying in my opinion.

I’d ban them from any future transfers until they pay up what they owe.

They are in trouble, home draw against a team in the bottom 3 and 2 pints clear of the drop zone, it’s not looking good.

I don’t agree with indefinite or until they start paying… it should be a set time which coincides with having made the full payment.

That way it’s in their own hands, pay in full now and be able to deal in January or in instalments and not.

Thing is, if they pay in full they won't hve any money to bring new players in. Tan has handled this very badly and thrown the baby out with the bathwater. He has spent a fortune trying to win this case apparently, money wasted that could have been used to ay the transfer fee, at least in part. Then they could have signed someone in January.

Dalman says he thinks it'll be sorted by January, only if they pay up. I don't suppose it'll matter to us mind. I don't see our owners spending any unless we sell first, even then if we sold someone for 10 million I doubt wed spend more than 3-4 million. We won't get the players we need, Martin will continue to play stodgeball and we will end up 12-18th.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I didn't realise it was 3 transfer windows.

Tan will need to get his wallet out at long last

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I think the lawsuits were all about pride, Tan doesn't like to be told he is wrong and have it proven. The money was chicken feed to hin personally, but he has run out of options now and finally has to pay.

Morally this has dragged on to long, just get it out if the headlines and give the family closure.

They aren’t in a good financial position ( as businessmen ) for no reason, I’ve a sneaking suspicion they have numerous cards up their sleeve.

For no reason? I thought he was paying too much in wages, had spent on transfer fees but lost on resale, I thought he was putting 2 million per month of his own money in whichwould eventually break the FFP rules.

So basically the Basseys punishments for not paying Nantes 15 million is a transfer embargo for 3 windows?

Then they don’t have to pay anything?

Oh no, I think they still have to pay, the embargo is for not paying. there'll be more punsihment if they still refuse.

Ah great news, so a good possibility of relegation this season & then struggle in the 3rd tier.

& still add another 15 million plus to their massive debt.

Well done Vinny 👍
