| Cardiff City transfer embargo 14:24 - Dec 17 with 4462 views | KeithHaynes | For not paying the first instalment of the Sala money, so sad all of this. Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said: "It's a technical embargo, there are lots of legal discussions going on and those will continue to take place. "We are pretty confident of being able to negotiate our way through this. It's irrelevant anyway until January 1, when the transfer window opens, and we are working hard to find an amicable resolution by then. We are working hard to resolve this in the interest of the club." Asked if he was worried about not being able to buy new players in January, Dalman said: "We would like to bring in a few additions, but my conversations with Mark Hudson is to carry on planning as normal. We are hoping this is a temporary embargo, not permanent. But the manager believes there is enough quality in the team anyway to compete at this level."

| Cardiff City transfer embargo on 20:36 - Dec 18 by pencoedjack | Ah great news, so a good possibility of relegation this season & then struggle in the 3rd tier. & still add another 15 million plus to their massive debt. Well done Vinny 👠|
They have some other appeal areas, whilst that takes place I’m certain the embargo will be lifted.

But surely the interest on what they owe just goes up? Tan seems to have lost all interest in the Bassey's, think they should be pretty worried as I cant see someone taking on that massive debt & paying what Tan allegedly wants for them. Anyway be nice to see them in the 3rd or 4th tier for a few years.

I would imagine the usual 8% interest us added when all the avenues are exhausted.

No one will pay what he wants and he hasn’t the know-how to continue, eventually he will have to accept he is useless and kiss goodbye to £50 million that HIS CEO’s have blown, maybe he should charge them or sue them for it as he likes doing that. Dont think anyone really cares if we go down as it May hasten his departure….20 yrs ago we could pull in 20,000 at Ninian park in league 1 so not so different to what we get now.

You have posted you no longer go, not sure the loyal fans who turn up week in week out would agree that they don’t care if you go down. Tan has overseen the most successful period in over 50 years he even came to close to winning a major trophy something you haven’t done for nearly a 100 years, so be careful what you wish for. 20000? You’ll be lucky to pull in 12000 in the 3rd tier which will look great in the stadium you built with your usual delusions of grandeur.

20 years ago in terms of watching football is another era, nowadays there's much choice to do to entertain yourself , watching League one football with another 19,999 isn't one of them .

I think saying 20k in league 1 also ignores something else about football. Slowly but surely the big clubs are throttling the lower leagues to death. They won't be happy until there's a Euro league with no more than 2 divisions lus a reserve league and all the big clubs in it. As ths standard on offer continues to drop fans will walk away from local clubs. us older fans will remain, youngsters will continue to drift away. It may not happen for a fair while yet, 10-20 years or more but there is an ultimate aim for those big clubs, to hoover up as many fans as possible, to keep increasing profits. With Qatari and Saudi money coming in more and more, with USA businessmen looking, they will all try to increase their share of the beautiful game and they won't care how many smaller clubs they send to the wall.

I go now and then, in the main to catch up with old friends who have been going since the late 80’s like me, the football is an excuse to catch up really. I get what your saying re be careful what you wish for but sometimes knowledge beats money. Huw Jenkins far more successful than Tan? The opening game of the 2002 season we had over 17000 for the visit of the mighty….Wycombe! It’s possible to get decent crowds in league 1. | Cardiff City transfer embargo on 19:55 - Dec 19 with 1338 views | britferry | OFF WOL Given the way this issue has played out, amid a myriad of court cases, the club feel it is way too simplistic to just say 'Cardiff owe the money, pay up'. Cardiff believe they have been dealt a really raw hand here, don't have the money anyway, and even if they did say they would be loathe to part with it readily given the unique circumstances. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ also... Cardiff's case to CAS was twofold. Point one was to ask judges to reconsider the FIFA decision on which club owned Sala, Cardiff or Nantes? Cardiff remain adamant he was still a Nantes player as he wasn't properly registered to play in the Premier League owing to an error in the contract which needed to be rectified upon the player's arrival in the Welsh capital. The Football Association of Wales say their registration of the transfer forms was complete at their end. Point two, in the event of Cardiff losing point one, was about who should then compensate Cardiff for the tragedy which unfolded. CAS determined Sala was a Cardiff player, but at the end of their hearing deemed they were not qualified to decide on point two. Cardiff are unhappy with that outcome and have moved to the Swiss Federal Court, a higher body, with the appeal. This can likely go one of two ways. The Federal Court either send the matter back to CAS with a recommendation to rethink. Or they can uphold the CAS decision, in which case Cardiff are prepared to pursue a civil action against Nantes for damages. This would take place in the French courts and could be a claim for anything between £20m and £200m. The former would cover the transfer fee while the second figure, one presumes, would cover monies Cardiff felt they could have received had Sala kept them in the Premier League. Neil Warnock, the Bluebirds boss at the time, is adamant the striker would have scored the goals to keep Cardiff in the top flight. Cardiff are said to be confident over their claim for damages. It is understood French law is quite specific with regards employment contracts and, despite FIFA's technical football judgement, Cardiff feel they can prove Sala was still officially contracted to Nantes under French law at the time of the accident. In the meantime, the Bluebirds are also suing Miller Insurances LLP, saying the broker failed to properly communicate the process for immediately insuring new players. In their bid to the High Court, Cardiff claim Miller Insurance failed to act with the reasonable skill and care expected of an insurance broker.

Your average this season in the C/Ship in 17k ( like many others counting ST holders not necessary bums on seats ) like I say time / habits change , with the PL more attractive with easier means to access live games , you can dream I suppose but unless you're pushing promotion then those figures are now fantasies

Strange how little old Ipswich Town can get 25,000 in league one, Bradford 17,000 in league Two and Wrexham 10,000 in the national league.

That makes no sense, if he was still a Nantes player then Cardiff have lost nothing because they didn't pay anything. How many goals Sala may have scored is impossible to quantify and absolutely any outcome was possible including him having a career ending injury in his first match. Plenty of new strikers have failed to score as any swansea fan knows. Indeed, if he was legally still a nantes player then it's nantes who have lost out and as the flight was heading to his new club, it is them who have sustained losses, they have lost a striker AND been denied payment, they are the damaged party. Obviously I am no expert in French law but I'd bet that Nantes have lawyers who are.

They keep banging the same drum regarding his PL registration , that is no defence for not paying ,it just meant he couldn't play in a PL match , he was registered as a cardiff player with the FAW , the day he died , although he was registered he still needed the International Transfer Certificate before he could be registered to play in different competitions(including the PL). Murky world of football and its environs does not negate the fact that 3 times they've been told to pay up .

Anyone can get over 20000 for a one off game I can remember Swansea getting 20000 against Watford in division 4 when Toshack was new manager. Also 27000 v Aston Villa in division 3 early 70s.

There's a few who still insist our owners are milking us dry but I think most accept we have been soundly run and are financially stable because they have been pragmatic. The problem is, to succeed in football you sometimes have to gamble. I think we are at that point, the owners have to take a gamble in the next window to strengthen us because we may have a real shot at promotion, at the play offs anyway. if our manager learns his lessons and is allowed to bring in 2-3 decent players anyway.

The point I’m making is that Cardiff were playing at home. Surely the play in their home kit - at home? Nothing to do with supporters buying their 3rd kit.
