Know some people who are there currently, they have been in New York for the last 48hrs and have been stuck in their hotel room and told not to go out.....its unbelievable out there.

I saw the news earlier, minus 45 in some places. They had footage from a tall building somewhere and apart from snow ploughs the streets were deserted.
We mostly would like a white Christmas/Xmas but that is ridiculous. I think it's their second coldest weather on record. In 1954 in Montana they recorded minus 70, Alaska apart that is their record Alaska having had minus 80! it is in the Artic circle though, Fairbanks. |  |

You can keep the snow I don't want any of it here, I won't be able to use my ASHP to keep water at the temperature to keep my Koi happy.
Plus the other disruptions it cause's we're not clued up enough to deal with Snow here, everything grinds to a halt, work calls a force majeure, its a total pain in the arse, it looks nice and its great when you'r in the Alps Skiing, but here its an absolute ball ache. | | | |

Only some parts of New York (as in New York State).
I’ve been here (NYC) since the 19th and apart from it being cold, it’s not been anything out of the ordinary. Beautiful blue sky, very little wind, no rain, tiny bit of snow on one of the days (Xmas Eve I think) which was quite nice.
If I didn’t have people texting me about it, I wouldn’t have even known about it. We must have been lucky here. |  |
